how much would it cost for the car to get shipped to me in syd and get it complianced with all that necessary things done? who would be able to do it for me (cheapest person possible).

what needs to be changed once the car gets here? seat belts? parts? tyres? etc etc etc.. is the car allowed to have any mods? bigger turbos, coolers, exhaust, kit, bigger wheels etc???

one more question - what if the r32 i import over has a rb25det in it? would it be eligible for importation?

Thanks.

There are a number of compliance workshops in Sydney, I suggest ringing around.

Coming in under SEVS, the car will require the usual work including new tyres, seat belts, side intrusion bars etc etc.

what if the r32 i import over has a rb25det in it? would it be eligible for importation?

Under the old 15 year rule this would have been possible, but not under SEVS.

damn..

what about mods done to the rb20 such as exhaust, filter bov, the usual bolt on stuff ?

would internals matter such as cams, injectors and pump?

or does it have to be completely bone stock?

Technically, the car has to be completely stock during compliance.

whyte, there is an importing FAQ stickied at the top of this section, give it a read as it has links to the relevant pages at DOTARS, that way you can get the info from the horses mouth, if you still have more questions by all means post them up, but a quick search through this subforum will give you all you need to know.

Why you would import an R32 you cant see is beyond me. For the same price or less you can have a car already here that you can inspect and test drive and that you dont have to pull everything off of to get complied.

thats the reason why i was asking. to see if it was cheaper to buy here or import one from jap. if i was to import one, i wanted to know if i will be allowed to keep the mods on or not.

sorry mate, not everyone can afford a R34 GTR like you *bows*

I think you may have misunderstood me. I wasn't saying YOU specifically are dumb for importing one. I'm saying that in general the market for R32's is pretty good over here with plenty of local cars to choose from in a wide variety with regards to 2 door, 4 door, 4wd, turbo, etc etc.

Importing one you will have a hard time finding a good one under 10-12 grand all said and on the road. You would easily find a registered one going over here under that.

    • I can get more photos of it here soon and I plan to make a thread detailing the process. I received the car this way and it sorely needs refinishing. That is probably the most appealing photo of it. Up close it is fading, cracked, and needs to be re-glued. Depending on their condition I'm on the fence between refinishing or making a new set.  Another angle hiding the pimples and razor pumps
    • According to this thread the RS4V with build plate RC40 comes with the R200 diff @ 4.083 ratio as well (mine has said RC40 denotation). We may need to check if the axle stubs are the same pattern as well. The auto subframes have longer axles. However I think yours being a later Series 2 as well, we should have the same bolt pattern for the diff stubs. Unless your upgraded rear also has upgraded axles. Either way, I would not be opposed to pulling the covers to check so I can inspect that  fancy rear core  Also I don't have HICAS. I don't believe that should change things but I hope the people here with heaps more experience than me can correct me if I'm wrong   Let me know if you want to attempt to make this work and I can get some pictures of mine from under the car.
    • It's not that straightforward. For example I have had this code because my ignitor/power transistor wires were unplugged. It knows something is wrong but has no idea what it means. If you want to actually diagnose this I recommend following the service manual flowchart for code 21. Ohm out the harness, coilpacks, inspect the ECU, etc. And again, it's entirely possible for there to be no problem at all but if you're running a different coilpack it'll trigger the code because it doesn't like what it sees.
