Fast Ford, Performance Ford **prepares for flaming :)

I am struggling to find decent ones here without cars with 20" chromies or cars from pre war. :D

I shall use this thread almost as a suggestion thread to go and scout out potential decent mags. :)

I'm into performance cars / race cars. I subscribe to Drift Battle and Austalian Muscle Cars. I love the history in old race cars and how they used to make cars go fast and drift battle because all of the cars in it are built for drifting on a track. As it's been said. 20" chromies and 10 TV screens doesn't do much for me. I wanna see them on the track.

Curious to know which magazine would be more effective for advertising

MOTOR is the best....but English.

High performance imports is the place if your thinking of ads.

Why do you have to be so far away from me?

Which area you from?

I am from campbellfield Ray.

Had a convo last week about an oil cooler installation.

Maybe i have more reason now to come and get this fixed too. :D

Look Ill make you a deal...Ill work with you to work on this car of mine. Same price as you would have charged normally.

This way I can stay the whole day and not have to catch a train anywhere.

:) Im afraid the gearbox issue would take few days.

Its pretty much HPI now Ray.

Speed was a great mag that unfortunately died :D

Joel might be able to give some other idea...

But if you wanna advertise, i'll come chat to ya about sponsorship :nyaanyaa:

Least you wont have 15yr old kids ringing you about getting some dose for thier mirage

Yeah, I definately want to do something with SAU.

I always find myself browsing HPI and wheels at borders in chaddy. HPI is better for imports obviously, but wheels is also good for everyday cars and so on. Depends on what you want to target - I found out about RE Customs from SAU.

how about other forums?

IMO the best mags out now are Zoom & HPI....i subscribe to both :D

drift battle can sometimes be good too...

agreed, i was feeling a bit angry that no-one had mentioned zoom. anyone hear that reads HPI, should most definately pick up a copy of zoom, so they can se what they are missing out on, its basically HPI, but more content relative to aus, with some of the best technical articles from anywhere. HPI and zoom i buy every issue (they have been probably the biggest part of my education), and quite a few drift battle, with some street machine/autosalon/speed(have quite a few since b4 it died)

anyone know why speed went under?

I really dont read any mags now save for wheels or motor

The HPI's/Zooms etc i've found to be mainly filled with ads and some very much inaccurate topics and feature cars.

I mean, reallistically you'd think the editors would get the article at least technically checked.

You should know when someone is bullsh|ting for an article... it certainly doesnt look so good when the print something thats pretty much impossible.

Its like me saying ive got 400rwkw from a pair of GT-SS.

Everyone knows its impossible. But hey, i'll give ya a dyno sheet that says so :sorcerer:

Yeah, I noticed that with Fast 4s and HPI, they slowly fill up with more ads and less content, but Wheels has always been quality

    • You are selling this? I have never bought something from marketplace...i dont know if i trust that enough. And the price is little bit "too" good...

    • It would be well worth deciding where you want to go and what you care about. Reliability of everything in a 34 drops MASSIVELY above the 300kw mark. Keeping everything going great at beyond that value will cost ten times the $. Clutches become shit, gearboxes (and engines/bottom ends) become consumable, traction becomes crap. The good news is looking legalish/actually being legal is slighly under the 300kw mark. I would make the assumption you want to ditch the stock plenum too and want to go a front facing unit of some description due to the cross flow. Do the bends on a return flow hurt? Not really. A couple of bends do make a difference but not nearly as much in a forced induction situation. Add 1psi of boost to overcome it. Nobody has ever gone and done a track session monitoring IAT then done a different session on a different intercooler and monitored IAT to see the difference here. All of the benefits here are likely in the "My engine is a forged consumable that I drive once a year because it needs a rebuild every year which takes 9 months of the year to complete" territory. It would be well worth deciding where you want to go and what you care about with this car.
    • By "reverse flow", do you mean "return flow"? Being the IC having a return pipe back behind the bumper reo, or similar? If so... I am currently making ~250 rwkW on a Neo at ~17-18 psi. With a return flow. There's nothing to indicate that it is costing me a lot of power at this level, and I would be surprised if I could not push it harder. True, I have not measured pressure drop across it or IAT changes, but the car does not seem upset about it in any way. I won't be bothering to look into it unless it starts giving trouble or doesn't respond to boost increases when I next put it on the dyno. FWIW, it was tuned with the boost controller off, so achieving ~15-16 psi on the wastegate spring alone, and it is noticeably quicker with the boost controller on and yielding a couple of extra pounds. Hence why I think it is doing OK. So, no, I would not arbitrarily say that return flows are restrictive. Yes, they are certainly restrictive if you're aiming for higher power levels. But I also think that the happy place for a street car is <300 rwkW anyway, so I'm not going to be aiming for power levels that would require me to change the inlet pipework. My car looks very stock, even though everything is different. The turbo and inlet pipes all look stock and run in the stock locations, The airbox looks stock (apart from the inlet being opened up). The turbo looks stock, because it's in the stock location, is the stock housings and can't really be seen anyway. It makes enough power to be good to drive, but won't raise eyebrows if I ever f**k up enough for the cops to lift the bonnet.
    • There is a guy who said he can weld me piping without having to cut chassis, maybe I do that ? Or do I just go reverse flow but isn’t reverse flow very limited once again?
