A lot of the text seems to be in 'gif' form, so doesn't translate, and good luck getting 'em to ship anything for you, LOL

The translated text always ends up with fairly interesting 'syntax' too!

i'm sure there are some japanese forums.

i dont think you could readily buy stuff from them though. google translated japanese will not help you at all in trying to comunicate with people unfortunately. and many japanese people that dont speak english also dont write in romanji so wont want to post you stuff. it would be like a japanese guy asking you to address a package to him using kanji or katakana.

best bet is still yahoo for all your used japanese parts needs.

There is http://www.gooparts.com/ which has things but Yahoo is the best IMHO

In fact I bought an intercooler on Yahoo last night to replace my bent hoseclamp.

Because I can't write/read/speak Japanese I get Streeter to do all the stuff after I bid

if you want to contact him just email [email protected] but I am sure lots of other

people are doing it on this forum to...

I've rummaged through those 'local forums' as N1GTR put it, and usually parts are sent after a lengthy conversation via email to ensure that you're not getting the wrong part. I'd only ever consider it for extremely rare and/or discontinued parts which - if you can locate what you want - is an absolute godsend sometimes.

As Laurence said Gooparts has some good stuff too, but often in limited amounts and applications. There are alot of parts on Goo for your Toyota bB/Nissan Mocco/Honda Odyssey though...

Umm there is Up-Garage... or are you looking for online only...

any part in particular, i go to about 4 different Up-Garages every week in my area, which is West Tokyo.

I was looking for cams, and rods, but ive now found rods, so its just cams im looking for now - although i cant buy any yet until the next stage of the build is done

Also in the future ill be after new brakes, and a few little things

I know this is slightly off topic, but I'm heading to Sapporo in Hokkaido in Jan on a snowboarding trip, and was looking to pick up a few small parts for my car whilst there.

Are used/new part stores common? ie. will i just run into one whilst there in the main city areas or will i need to hunt out a store out in an industrial estate etc...

Just after a few small common items (guages, cam gears etc, whatever i can find cheap really.)

Having never been to Hokkaido I can't say for sure, but if you want to find car parts places the best place to look is along the main roads usually, away from train stations.

for a well advanced country, i've found that the best bargains in japan are in secohan shops, over the counter so to speak.

now if some genius could make those shops accessible to the fanboys overseas then they'd be onto a goldmine.

Yes but freight... nobody wants to pay for freight, even if Santa personally sent that Hard Gay Kurohige Kiki Ippatsu direct to their door from the north pole...

Or are you suggesting Razor Ramon works the counters at 'J-Fanboy Warehouse' Sydney City store?

AHAHA hard gay that shits classic!!!

freight isnt to bad if the item is within ems size and under 20kg

Some directions to these seconhan shops would be nice to start with, I got this from one of the earlier threads

UpGarage-Tokyo-Chiba

Get the JR out to Chiba (airport line) or Chiba Minato .From here either catch the monorail or simply walk along underneath following where it goes. Once you get to the stop one from Chiba Minato station alight from the monorail and head north up R16. There is a Red stage Nissan dealer on the right and a couple of petrol stations on the left, Up garage is just after these on the left hand side

cheers

I have done a fair bit of Hokkaido and I can say you wont have much luck finding much there. HKS Hokkaido is about the most exciting place and even that is a tiny shop...

    • I wasn’t able to replicate the sound anymore. It was a one time sound so maybe it was just coincidence but it was like small pebbles being dropped in a coke can.   should I try cleaning the MAF? It could be it’s functioning but dirty? I don’t know.
    • Update 4: Hi all. The car drives again! Haven't driven for long, only to store it in the garage again, but the test drive was successful. The coolant and oil leaks seem to be fixed for now. Temps on the engine were also very good, while moving I never even saw 80C water during the approx. 30 minute drive. Ate up all the coolant in the reservoir though so will have to fill that even more when I go to the car next time. One thing that pisses me off is that the RPM gauge is still f**ked, I even resoldered the board twice and used copper paste on the silly screws that are used as connections. Next time I take it out I'll take apart the board and fit new components, I'll see if I can get a replacement IC for it.  I have an appointment set for 22nd of September for the engine tune to 370hp. Alignment also still needs to be done. My hope is that I can get all the legal stuff over with by the end of this season. Anyone of you have advice regarding intercoolers? Currently there is an APEXI core fitted, one of those weird hybrid ones, 600x270x76. I don't think it's bad but it's not new and now I still have the chance to change it now to legally include it in the paperwork. Only issue is that the only options that would arrive in time are a HKS Type R intercooler or generic Ebay spec intercoolers comparable to a JustJap one. Ideally I'd order a Plazmaman but it takes over a month to receive which would mean making the car legal has to wait until next season. Would love to hear some input on this. Same story for my injectors, the previous owner was a nunce and put ID 1050x on the engine. They work but are obviously not ideal at "normal" power levels. But I don't see a reason to change them unless the tuner says it's necessary. I read online before buying a different exhaust that the top secret style rear diffusers won't fit due to the size of the rear resonators. My buddy and I made it work by slightly "adjusting the shape" of the mounting bracket and making some spacers out of 3d print for the mounting bolts. Fits like a charm. Just putting this here in case someone has this problem. Even the hefty HKS Silent Hi Power rear can fits without hitting anything.
    • Well they got my money but they are not getting my gearbox !
    • It's needed for rolling idle up, and I think it is a decider on VCT also.
    • I mean, not really. Link ECU's can absolutely still have errors from the ECU thinking it's getting a sensor it's not expecting. I would imagine the speed at the ECU level in Nistune does absolutely nothing anyway? I assume the ECU does not do any fancy TC stuff with regards to front+rear wheel speed or anything of that like anyway. Someone who uses Nistune may be more fluent in it.
