my gf calls me up and goes one of her friends just died in a car crash and it was on the news.....so i go and turn on the tv faarrr out......2 dead 2 critical and another 2 injured not so bad.

the car was a mess it looked worse then the farrari couple weeks back. i think it was a 300zx.

the news report labled the car as a nissan coupe........nice to know they aint pointing it out as a import...or such other things/.....ill try get more info and some pics.....

heres the story.............

Police believe the car in the fatal smash in North Caulfield was travelling at 140 kmh, twice the speed limit for the section of road.

Assistant Commissioner (Traffic) Noel Ashby told theage.com.au speed was the main factor in the accident which has left two young women dead and four others in hospital.

The women, both of Noble Park, died after the 1989 Nissan 300 ZX sedan carrying six women slammed into a brick fence shortly after 3.30am at the corner of Dandenong and Wattletree roads, police said.

Four other women in the car, all in their early 20s, suffered injuries ranging from minor to critical.

turns out the car was going 140 in a 70 zone.....man some guys realli need to slow down :P

Dude your right. I admit ive done some stupid shit, heck Ive done 140 Km/h too but... ON A FREEWAY WITH NO CARS late at night! Id never do that kind of dumb shit in a 70 KM zone... more so with 6 people in the car! If I ever do stupid shit then Im alone in the car! I never dare to do that with passengers!

i wouldnt be saying that to your girlfriend anytime soon :)

Oh cr#p... I remember seeing a Darkish grey 300ZX with I think Silver oldish style Enkei's going Caulfield way when I passed the Warrigal/Princess fwy intersection. This was about 3:30am after coming back from the city...

f**k that's scary. In this position, do you think would it be an idea to contact the Police?

when did 300zx's come with 4 doors? :)

They don't they came in 2+2 and the rear seats are REALLY squashy.

Sorry Dezz, strongly disagree buddy :D

Do you think they would be as tempted to do such speeds in a shit-box, i don't. There are alot of sensible P-platers out there (and in this club), but even these people get tempted or pushed into doing stupid thing, because the car has the ability.

I wasn't saying what I said because i'm a p-plater in an overpowered car....

I'm saying she had 6 people in a car that we all know is not capable of carrying 6...you'd be lucky to get 5 in a 300zx comfortably..

and there's no mention of it being twin turbo, so for all we know it was an underpowered and overweight N/A

you'd be hard pressed to get 3 people in 300zx comfortably, have you ever seen the space for the back seats? :)

Jeez - RIP

What were they thinking when they were doing that. It could have been worse, like the one on police rd in springvale. A pedestrian or another road user may have died. Such a waste of life.....

and finally the journalists dont know jack shit about imports, hence they said its a sedan

    • So could it be assumed it has been installed intentionally with potentially a power FC boost controller kit?
    • Had my rig on Matt's dyno at PITS the other day. After a few years between tunes I added a few sensors and swapped intercoolers. Result. 553hp at 26psi. Not bad for an FJ20 that was built in 2007. The problem.. It filled the overflow bottle on hard runs which leads me to believe the head gasket isn't sealing. I have a coolant pressure sensor which was reading cap pressure at 22psi and occasionally overrunning to 23/24 psi on deceleration after a pull. It was not spiking. It has arp2000 head studs and a cometic gasket. As its been 18 years in service, I pulled the engine out and head off. Everything looks good but we obviously have an issue. Where I'm at.. Years ago I had the same issue, I checked the stud tension and they were all over the place. Some at 60 to 70 and some up near 90. I nipped them all to 100ft lbs and this stopped the water push until now. I believe this compromised the gasket back then. What do I do? 2 options are..  1) I bought arp 625+s, which I could put in with a new gasket. Thinking Kameari this time, reassemble and try again. 2) strip the block, get fire rings machined in with copper gasket and try that. I do not want to push it more than 28 to 30psi. I think the turbo will be out by then anyway. (G30-770). My other concern is the long term ability of a copper head gasket. Are they streetable for years? I feel like a new gasket with the new studs will probably suffice, but I don't know. Any thoughts welcome and advice on copper gaskets and fire rings. Thanks!
    • I'm a fan of the JZX110, and the Aristo. Big cruiser cars, and with the factory cars, super comfortable and feel like you're driving an armchair! And the JZ motors are a pretty nice engine too, especially with some basic mods.   The import process, and the need to be able to trust people, and the fact there's so many scammers around is what ever puts me off wanting to go through that ordeal!
    • I don't care for these at all, but at least the underside looks straight and not rusty. A good basis for a long life. Many cars from Japan have been lifted with forklifts and f**ked almost irrepairably.
    • Yes, but it's not dumb or dodgy. You can build a perfectly good boost controller from a pressure reg, a relief valve (looks same same as a reg if all from Norgren or SMC, for example) and a check valve. I ran one for years. Only superceded with  EBC because I could get one for cheaps and wanted finer control.   THis mod is certainly not a sketchy boost mod, provided the boost is kept below the "spin to death" threshold of the turbos.
