I got a tuff decision to use either a Ford 302 5.0L V8 Twin Turbo or LS1 5.7L Twin Turbo for the 180SX. I already have the 302 V8 out of my old Fairlane so it will cost me nothing, LS1 on the other hand i don't have and will cost me nearly 2K to get one. To be a cheap skate or not, both engines will get me the estimated 1000HP i require.

I want more than 1000hp but I only require 1000hp, would like to keep power to weight ratio at 1hp:1kg lol.

Not a great deal difference in weight between a alloy V8 and The cast V8 either way it is just as light a RB26 4wd setup.

I might start removing the engine out of my Fairlane this week.

Got the 180SX fully stripped ready for transport to Race Bred Enterprises HQ, just got windscreen and rear quarter glass to be removed. Also waiting for our other R32 GTR shell to arrive, both car will be getting cut and shut and caged at the same time ;)

    • I know people cry at the price of the Getrag 12-14k for a conversion now, but it really is a nice mid point. Not going to get change from 10k on a gearset installed.  $30k++ for sequential.   I know you run the risk of a damaged used one and parts are hard to get but as a street car gearbox its really hard to beat. If you enjoy a more traditional manual, its the choice no question.
