Hi Guys,

Well, I'm settled in to Japan now. Had a few highlights already.

1, the hotel in Chiba was awesome, even had a pc in each room and free broadband net in room. Plus single room still had double bed (very rare for japan)

2, went to Top Secret and pleased that I am still amazed by the cars there (even after what must be 10 visits there).

3, I got to use the magic beer robot/machine that tilts the glass and adds the head etc. but even better than the one at Narita, I got to use one at Fuji speedway, so I could drink my perfect Asahi whilst watching GT cars belting around the track.

4, I went back to bar scarface, and the owner was so pleased to see me he even gave me a present, and yes he still carves massive ice cubes out of some giant block!

5, Super GT was even more awesome than I imagined and Fuji speedway is like no race track in oz. the facilities are simply amazing.

6, Veuve cliquot is still as cheap as I remember at only $40 per bottle!

7, there is a bar in my hotel called Bar Baron! how cool is that.

Well, I'm now in Shinjuku and just about to head to Roppongi to meet a friend and get shit faced, and have some good food.

I will try and get some pics etc up tomorrow.

ciao!

( P.S bring me back a pressie a geysha girl pleeeeease)

got another couple of points:

1, the weather is awesome. about 18-20 degrees and sunny

2, I played a PS3 yesterday for a little while, and I have to say it was mind blowing. so much better than PS2, and imo better than X360 too. I`m thinking I might pick one up while I`m here

Last night went to Roppongi hills to meet an old friend of mine and his girlfriend Yumiko. We went to a really cool bar in Roppongi Hills (heartland bar),smashed a few beers there, then went to a really good yakiniku place. ate HEAPS there, and drank about another 8 beers, then went to a club (club vanilla) and got stuck into the spirits. Only in Tokyo would you be able to go to a nightclub on a monday night and have it packed full. We kicked on there till about 5am so I was understandably a little shakey today...

tonight thinking about heading to Iron Chef Chinese`s (i forget which one he is, Chen Kenichi I think) restaurant in Roppongi. I`ve heard it`s very good. Plus the novelty factor would be worth it too.

I`ve got heaps of pics of Super GT, and other stuff, but didn`t bring the cable with me today so will have to upload some later.

well, I`m going to go and grab a mos burger, then play a little more PS3. catch you clowns later!

had another good one today. mostly slept in, but then went and played some more PS3 (now played Ridge Racer 7 and Gran Turismo HD, they both rock).

Also went in to Akihabara, and spent some more time wandering around Shinjuku too.

Here are a few pics to kick things off. Tomorrow I have a few things to do in Chiba, then off to Daikoku tomorrow night. Should be good.

pics (I`ll caption them better later):

WTF? Is that an ichi-goh with wide-bodied-R34 bits, or an R34 with an SR20? C-pillar tells me R34, but the engine bay looks so short...

That image from the PS3 look incredible!

    • Hope you aren't too sore after that one, might take a day or 2 to notice yet and I guess it is a loooooong drive home. On the bright side, tube frame front end is a thing at superlap, right?

    • The chart of front pressure to rear pressure (with one being on the x axis and the other being on the y axis) is not a straight line on a typical proportioning valve. At lower pressures there is a straight line with one slope, and at higher pressures that changes to a lower slope. That creates a bend in the line at that pressure, called the knee point. If you do not change the proportionng as the pressure gets higher, you will suffer excessive pressure (at one end of the car or the other, depending on which way you look at the proportioning action) and then get lockups at that end. The HFM BM57, from my memory of previous discussions, is based on the BM57 from a different car (to a Skyline), with a different requirement for the location of the knee point and the distribution of pressure front to rear, and so is not a good choice for an upgrade on a Skyline. Here's a couple of links to some old posts, one from here, one from elsewhere. A lot of it pertains to adjustable prop valves, but the idea is the same. There are plenty of discussions on here about this issue from al the many years of people wanting a cheap/accessible option. https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/ https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/
    • Yeah dunno why johhny posted that here with no context, just post on FB/insta bro where he put it up?  Laine had an off at T4 during Thurs prac, he's ok, car is less than perfect, they are done for the weekend, he can fill in the rest. Bando also binned it like 100m up the road.
    • I feel there must have been a FB/insta post and the weekend did not start well at all I hope everyone is all okay
