what else ya gunna do?

it'd be un-Australian not to go :P

Shaun.. better rsvp soon! I just checked the thread, and there are under 10spots left. I've read that they have put aside 10 spots for the bikes and the cars have the remaining 40spots.

I could be interested however, the track standard might be a bit high. That said, if people think I could "hack" the track, I will happily go for it.

lol

Don't worry!!! I'll be there to bring the standard down a bit. lol.

I would have really liked to make it back there to see how the car goes now it handles better but I have settlement that w/e. It was nice to drive a track that was more technical than others and also how layed back the day was. Oh well next time I'll be there!

Recommended to anybody thinking about it.

I see there is now some Elise's, some GT3's and a GT2 on the list as well (apparently).

I was thinking of changing my mind and finding another time to go but it's becoming a mightily interesting list of entrants.

Unfortunately we haven't been able to get Sutton Rd for this weekend so there will be another Wakefield trip to NSW early in the New Year run in conjunction with a Sutton Rd event but we are waiting for the NSW people to recover from their hangover and get the dates sorted.

With the Calder park WRX championship round the weekend before, this will be interesting to see if a) my car will be ready in time for Jan 20th and b) if i break something at calder, preventing me from coming to Wakefield

Afternoon Kids!

I've just received a PM from Autosports saying they are now chasing payments and they'd like to tie up payments by the end of the week.

Should be an awesome day!!! So if you want to reserve your spot, you MUST pay now!

I hope to see you there!

Hey guys, I was thinking of bringing the Evo down but was wondering how far is the drive from Melbourne?

From memory it is about 6 hours of driving but took around 8 with breaks/fuel stops etc.

Not sure, depends if i get some "issues" sorted at the moment.

But if its not ready, i will be dead... so its me or the car by Jan 07.

Just wondering if anyone has seen Ash since Sunday night?

Was talking to Bec today about this, is there a final consensus on this as I have the Thursday booked off but will make other plans if people arent going? :)

Guys, im in the process of doing a weekend of thrashing up here that you guys can come to, it includes a DECA style day, and a day at Wakefield (or i can sort Oran Park but thats harder)

Im being held up by the ACT government not choosing their exact dates for the ACT rally - due to a clause in a lease agreement one of the places we're going to use arent allowed to accept bookings until the rally dates are booked first

So my hands are tied.....for now :)

By all means go up for this trip (afterall, 2 trips is better than one) - but for the guys that miss out, ill make it well known when ive organised my one so you guys all have enough notice etc to get time off work etc

For those that weren't aware the majority of us are no longer going up for this.

However if you have paid it is still on and you can still attend.

Stay tuned for another SAU road trip to wakefield soon! So much fun.

    • The German place in Cabramatta was rock solid, fresh pretzel cooked to order back then. Then it went all quiet, after all the poker machines were removed, then I believe it closed for good. I did drive past the other week and noticed outdoor lighting a big screen, but no idea what is there now.
    • Yeah I suspect even if you hold airmass per cycle/cylinder constant if you get too far away from stock you're still going to have problems running the factory tune within the bounds of the factory load scale. Cams, different displacement/rod ratio, etc. I'm just lucky that the GTIII-SS with wastegate boost + CA compliance cats is pretty much equivalent to stock turbos. When I have actual space I can finally get it tuned and modify the fuel system for flex fuel to 100% handle any detonation concerns when cranking the boost to whatever those dinky turbos can put out.
    • I would say no, why, because my daughter, who also lives in Goulburn, hasn't recommended us going there Pity, as we miss all the German joints around in Sydney, actually, the restaurants are the only thing I really miss about Sydney, and a special mention to Ishibanboshi at Bondi Junction, their Kara-age Don is heart cloggingly deliciousness (always added a special boiled egg...or 2) 😋
    • Does that German restaurant still exist in the old place out the NW end of Goulburn? When I say "out the NW end of"...I am really being vague. It was 1997 when I was last there, and the only point of reference I can recall is that it was on the opposite side of the main drag from the big merino. And when I say "opposite side of the main drag", I don't mean "on the main drag". It was either a couple of streets back from there, or might have even been out in the sticks a bit further. Was an old farm building or mill or somesuch. And when I say "the big merino" I might actually be thinking of a completely different part of town, because I just looked on maps and the big bugger is not where I remembered him to be! The food was good, consisting largely of various German mystery-meat sausage/loaf things and kartofflen.
    • So while the second sentence is completely correct and the whole point of the conversation, the first sentence bears consideration. If this bloke is just hoping to throw big turbos on and drive it around, because there are no helpful facilities at all in his tropical paradise** then he likely has zero chance of even knowing what the TP is on the last column in the stock maps, let alone know whether the ECU is operating anywhere near it or past it. So the point is very very moot. And, per what I said before, at stock boost on those turbos, you may well be off the end of the map. **I'm just back from Vanuatu, so I know exactly what small Pacific nations can be like wrt paradise without requisite facilities. But it's not even that simple. I put a high flow on my car and had to drive it around without a proper tune because of the lack of opportunity*** to put the bigger AFM and injectors into it to allow it to be tuned. I had to turn the boost down to less than I had before, and back off the boost controller's ramp, because it was exploring parts of the map that it didn't drive in before, and really couldn't access for tuning on the dyno either, and so was pinging. It was still well within the last column, because when I first**** set up the Nistune on the Neo I rescaled all axes of the maps to give some more space to explore. ***Family dyno was broken ****This was 13 years ago, and the TIM thing wasn't a thing then and so TP would definitely grow when pushing past the stock tune's limits.
