this it probably the most likely story.

sad to hear that this can go on!

Is that the carminder?

We have them in our cars, the only on-going cost $9 per month for the sim-card, the other one no cost unless calls are made .

It uses GPS to lacate the car and GSM to call you, if it moves, someone opens the door, starts it , cuts the main battery or even low battery ( bellow a pre set volt value).

Much better system that QT as it has unlimited cover as long as it is above ground ..

Sounds like a better system than QT but does "above ground" also mean "not in a semi trailer"?

It might be a silly question but I'm looking into something like this as I'm driving my car more and more all the time.

As long as you have a clear vision of the sky , it will be able to give you it's location, if it's in container it won't work but then it will give you the last known location. Same when you go in a tunnel or underground car park, it will give you the location of the point where it disappears.

it looks pretty good, but even though they dont charge monitoring it seems you have to pay $50 per year 'registration' and if you want maps that have street names, and street numbers you need to pay for the mapping service which as best I can tell is $800 odd. unless I've got it completely wrong. I must admit I dont fully understand the differnces between all their options.

No registration fee is needed ( unless you get them to monitor it) and you dont even need maps but if you want them you can get the software for about $150-200. The only on-going cost is the cost of the sim+any calls made from the car to you.

The unit will give you a longintude and latitude every second you can check that on any map, call the cops or shut the engine down if its driving.

If it gives you longitude and latitude, why do you need maps? Wouldn't whereis.com.au or even Google Earth be as good and free?

Sure would...

Only reason you would use the maps is if you want to dial into the vehicle with a modem and watch the car move around a map in real time.

The GPS/GSM tracking units will work if the car is in the back of a truck, so long as the pantech is not metal. If it is metal, then nothing would work...not even a mobile phone...

However, as soon as they drove the car out of the truck, you would get a position, and the unit would record the last known position.

it's good saying the docks should be checked, but the police wont even get that authority for weeks, which then will be too late.

i reckon these cars are long gone. best to start sorting out insurances

Not saying all car theifs are imigrants and not saying all imigrants are criminals / trouble. But for the size of their population, they are very over-represented :P

Your opinion is off-base. Not because it's politically incorrect (that's not enough reason to be off-base) but really that's not quite right.

Firstly, we're all immigrants in one form or another because we live in Australia. So it would make sense all immigrants would be represented highly, but it wouldn't mean they were over-represented.

If you consider it that immigrants are all those who aren't whities (the original invader) then it still doesn't hold because it's the indigenous population is actually the one over-represented.

farrrkkkkkk

    • You are selling this? I have never bought something from marketplace...i dont know if i trust that enough. And the price is little bit "too" good...

    • It would be well worth deciding where you want to go and what you care about. Reliability of everything in a 34 drops MASSIVELY above the 300kw mark. Keeping everything going great at beyond that value will cost ten times the $. Clutches become shit, gearboxes (and engines/bottom ends) become consumable, traction becomes crap. The good news is looking legalish/actually being legal is slighly under the 300kw mark. I would make the assumption you want to ditch the stock plenum too and want to go a front facing unit of some description due to the cross flow. Do the bends on a return flow hurt? Not really. A couple of bends do make a difference but not nearly as much in a forced induction situation. Add 1psi of boost to overcome it. Nobody has ever gone and done a track session monitoring IAT then done a different session on a different intercooler and monitored IAT to see the difference here. All of the benefits here are likely in the "My engine is a forged consumable that I drive once a year because it needs a rebuild every year which takes 9 months of the year to complete" territory. It would be well worth deciding where you want to go and what you care about with this car.
    • By "reverse flow", do you mean "return flow"? Being the IC having a return pipe back behind the bumper reo, or similar? If so... I am currently making ~250 rwkW on a Neo at ~17-18 psi. With a return flow. There's nothing to indicate that it is costing me a lot of power at this level, and I would be surprised if I could not push it harder. True, I have not measured pressure drop across it or IAT changes, but the car does not seem upset about it in any way. I won't be bothering to look into it unless it starts giving trouble or doesn't respond to boost increases when I next put it on the dyno. FWIW, it was tuned with the boost controller off, so achieving ~15-16 psi on the wastegate spring alone, and it is noticeably quicker with the boost controller on and yielding a couple of extra pounds. Hence why I think it is doing OK. So, no, I would not arbitrarily say that return flows are restrictive. Yes, they are certainly restrictive if you're aiming for higher power levels. But I also think that the happy place for a street car is <300 rwkW anyway, so I'm not going to be aiming for power levels that would require me to change the inlet pipework. My car looks very stock, even though everything is different. The turbo and inlet pipes all look stock and run in the stock locations, The airbox looks stock (apart from the inlet being opened up). The turbo looks stock, because it's in the stock location, is the stock housings and can't really be seen anyway. It makes enough power to be good to drive, but won't raise eyebrows if I ever f**k up enough for the cops to lift the bonnet.
    • There is a guy who said he can weld me piping without having to cut chassis, maybe I do that ? Or do I just go reverse flow but isn’t reverse flow very limited once again?
