Kimi Raikkonen pips Lewis Hamilton

bit unoriginal arnt we... looks like it might be a close one. Ferrari will run light in final quali so as not to repeat the last race embarrassment.

that was a bit of an odd one... that leaves so many questions unanswered

What was with Alnoso?

Why was Kimi so slow in the last stint?

How was Hamilton faster on the harder tyres?

Why couldnt Alonso overtake Heidfeld?

Why was Kubica so much slower that Heidfeld?

and soooo many more...

Anyway, pretty uneventful like Sepang, im blaming the track. Im not a fan, no personality and who builts a track int he desert? Once again its a three week wait till the next round. Why they chose to do it this way we'll never know

i thought it wasn't too boring. Coulthard did well, both redbull's showing some speed and Heidfeld passing Alonso round the outside. that was a good move. hopefully things might spice up a bit when they return to Europe....

hahaha, why on earth would you install vista? lol

anyway, I thought it was a good race. shame that DC and webber both had car failure and damn was webber talking straight for once. he sounded massively pissed.

Really enjoyed last nights race. It wa actuallky a good race through the whole field.

Webber didnt sound happy...but was not happy to hear him be so short. Coulthard was very upbeat " We’re going through some growing pains at the moment, but we will get through it and we’ll be stronger on the other side, everyone’s working very hard back in the factory.”

Webber just sounded negative ;)

Glass houses though....it is becomg pretty clear to me that Webber cant pass to save his life. Good qualifier, races hard to defend his position, but seems to hesitant when following slower cars. Good thing he qualifies well as i dont htink he could race well from the back of the grid.

its actually 4 weeks.. :)

Lewis Hamilton is a freak of nature...has anyone noticed that? Hes polite, well spoken, diplomatic and hes got the skills to put world champions in the shade in only his 3rd race. He drives as though f1

im going to go out on a limb and bet he will win the next race. He shouldve won Barain if it werent for a tyre choice screw up by McLaren.

The boys a natural born champion.

Pitpass.com has a really good story about him and his dad

Like father like son

And i dont think he would have beaten Massa regarless of what tyre stratagy Mclaren came up with. Ferraris last test before the season opener showed how awesomely quick they were here on long runs, so i think he exceeded his damage limitation rather than lost the win

Who was it that said Kimi would run light in the first stint? hehe

And Hamilton was quicker, but again Massa went longer, which shows that he was quicker in qualifying with more fuel....

Good race, I watched it at 6am after work after being up for 32hours, and I wasn't disappointed :nyaanyaa:

The 4 week wait sucks harder than Honda too....

Anyone else find the battle between Barichello and Schumacher for next to last place rather amusing......there is $600 million well spent

Renault really does have rubbish drivers, maybe excuses can be made for Heikki as he hasn't raced for a long time but Giancarlo is just rubbish really.

Webber has every right to be pissed, he drags the car up the grid only to be let down in the race......although you have to ask questions about his race pace.....good to see Coulthard back on form.

What was with Alonso?

I think he just dropped the ball on car setup, happens to the best

Why was Kimi so slow in the last stint?

Don't think the Ferrari liked the hard tyres, Massa wasn't real quick either.

How was Hamilton faster on the harder tyres?

Well as Martin said.....the track rubbers up a lot but even so you would expect fastest lap to be set on soft rubber?!!?!?!

Why couldnt Alonso overtake Heidfeld?

See question 1. Heidfelds move on Alonso was simply awesome!!

Why was Kubica so much slower that Heidfeld?

Experience, car setup??? Hiedfeld seems in inspired form.

    • Reading through the engine service manual their advice is do a cylinder balance test. Unplug one injector at a time and see if the idle drops a consistent RPM. You can also do this using a Consult cable which is easier. They also call for unplugging the power transistor, then with the engine off and the fuel rail unhooked from the manifold verifying that you have good fuel flow (even injection, no dripping/leaks, etc) when you twist the CAS by hand. Also verify the spark by pulling the spark plugs and allowing the plugs to ground and turning the CAS by hand. I would also start doing the sensor checks and idle valve checks in service manual. Make sure the MAF tests reasonably, the intake air regulator is sane, etc. You may have to get new spark plugs.
    • This sounds very old of me, however since buying the Tiguan shit box, my view on shit boxes have changed.
    • I've looked up the parts number (41011AL501). It's around $700 OEM. Usually our Infiniti G35 here in Canada have interchangeable parts with my Stagea but the parts number are not the same. I have looked around and it seems the JDM 2005 V35 Skyline (which is the same as our G35) has the same caliper but I cannot confirm. And I can't find a repair kit. The inner brake pads drags on the rotor, seems to be rusty piston. Thanks for the info by the way
    • This coupled with 6-9 speed autos with ridiculously short gearing is why these modern shitbox cars always seem so fast off the line. If it wasn't for those things, Raptors would not seem fast. The problem we have is there is a driveability gap between a more gentle take off and a wheelspinning sideways launch. The difference between ankle flex required to achieve one and ankle flex required to achieve the other is about 0.5°.
    • Yeah I think I'm also with the opposite here. It's 'hard to keep up with traffic' because in the real world I'm accelerating with 15% throttle and they are pinning it. It feels like I'm being an overt dickhead at anything above 15% throttle, so the car sounds like I'm being an overt dickhead to keep up with/get ahead of traffic when I'm really just trying to drive with traffic. There would be no issue 'keeping up with traffic' if we used the same level of throttle input/aggression to drive around. People really do just drive around with their foot nearly pinned in econoboxes.
