Put Longherst in F1, he'll belt ya when your helmat is still on. Coudn't find a youtube clip from the paul morris incident,

Could you imagine Skafie in the F1, if you swapped Skafie and Ralf at the last race, you'd have Mark waiting at Coca-cola for a whole lap so he could give Heidfeld the one fingered salute...

okay...ill say it only once..

please. please. PLEEEEEASSSSEEEE!! never mention a v8 supercar driver with pride on this thread ever again.

its unsightly, unjust, euphemistic and downright insulting.

skaife was never, EVER going to be good enough for an F1 drive and neither was Longhurst.

but for ass kicking sake, and just this once, i reckon strife or longjohns would get a sniff on monty but by then the bogota bruiser would have knocked them both clean into next week...or put them both in the f**king tree if i were to coin the phrase..

if you want to talk up the V8 boys theres a thread especially for you and its not this one.

Actually Skaife would have been very good in F1. Back when racing drivers used to actually race a couple of different classes, Skaife won a F-Holden championship and the ATCC in the same year. I stand to be corrected on this. 3/4 of the current crop of F1 pilots are only there because they have money backing them. Certainly not a lot of talent in the current field!

cheers

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

That is the funniest post I have read in a long time. Not a lot of talent in the field?? Sorry but keep dreaming. We may whinge about Massa or Alonso or R. Schumacher or whatever.....but the fact remains all these guys have driving ability beyond our wildest dreams.

I love Skaife, awesome driver but so what if he won the Formula Holden championship? Craig Lowndes was JPM's teammate in F3000 but didn't get anywhere.

yeah, skaifey is a great driver, and very talented. I don't know if he was ever quite F1 standard but I would say he had enough promise that if he had been groomed for it from a fairly young age he would have been good enough to hold his own. I would say it's all 20% talent. 40% backing and 40% grooming/training/learning to become good in F1.

Anyway I love skaifey and I'm sure even if he was no good on track he could at least hold his own in an off track punch up.

Hmm, off the top of my head V8 drivers in the recent past that have tried to get to F1 via European/Pommie Formula racing & failed include:

James Courtney.

Craig Lowndes.

Marcus Ambrose.

Russell Ingall.

Will Davidson.

The last Holden bloke I can think of is Larry Perkins, but I may be missing someone/something.

You can arguably also include some try hard called Ryan Briscoe.

Oh and Nissan/Winfield chucked enough money at MS to enable him to go places. He did a few F3000 races if memory serves.

yeah don't get me wrong I'm not saying MS was an open wheel superstar that was let down by circumstance. I'm just saying he was (is?) a very talented driver in both sedans and open wheelers but had he been raised in europe and given the right direction and training I can certainly believe he would have had enough talent to carry him along to a good career. not saying he would have been the hottest thing of wheels, but he would have at least been worth signing.

if my memory serves me right, i believe courtney left of his own accord. he was sick of being put 2nd to all the paying drivers.... correct me if im wrong.

Quite correct on Courteney. Just reinforces what I wrote earlier unless you have money or are very well established/connected within the F1 community, you have buckleys of cracking the big teams. Even the lesser teams are now being absobed into larger teams such as Red Bull/Toro Rosso and McLaren and the new team for next year. Webber may go close but I think it will be a long time before we see another Oz F1 driver let alone WDC.

It maybe time to ressurect the Brabham marque! Who owns the name these days? Anyone know?

Cheers

It's unfortunate but thats the way it has always been and will continue to be in all top level motorsport. Remember Vern Schuppan had a great opportunity until someone called Niki Lauda came along with lots of $$$$.

Same with Chris Atkinson in WRC, he is there because he keeps writing big cheques.

even Schuey paid for his 1st drive with eddie jordan back in 1991....

Schumacher didn't. Mercedes did.

No one gets anywhere in motor sport without money & connections. If you looks at almost all the F1 drivers & even the yocal V8 drivers they are either sons of rich fathers (Sorfs) or well connected, or more usually, both.

Monty put Lowndes in the shade..and very nearly in the fecking tree!

    • You can use your VIN to look up the factory part number somewhere like amayama, and then look to order new if necessary. https://www.amayama.com/en/genuine-catalogs/nissan Depending on price you might want to rebuild instead. @GTSBoy I had an interesting insight into US market parts when the Titan rear calipers were sticking. New calipers were dirt cheap, about 20% more than a rebuild kit....they are just considered throw away maintenance items
    • Funny, but really not funny. Thank god (most) f the world has moved on since then
    • Lots of votes for driving onto a plank first; that is the quickest way I've found, 25mm is enough for my case but that will vary by car It also depends where you are going for. On the 32 I can get to the rear diff with my floor jack if I do that end first, and get it up on stands. Then I lift the front from either front tow hook as high as needed, also onto stands. Sometimes I need a small lift on the other tow hook to get it level enough If I do the front first I can't get to the rear diff because of the angle of the car Other options are getting to the front mount of the rear subframe from in front of the wheel (if only lifting one side, or just do both which is a bit of a pain compared to one lift from the diff), or also the gearbox cross member mount on the driver's side if you are  just trying to lift the driver's side. I This is the jack I use; it says 75mm clearance but of course that is only on the lower section so if you have to reach too far in like the diff you still get stuck. https://www.snapon-bluepoint.com.sg/category/Floor-Jacks/product/Floor-Jack,-2-Ton-Low-Profile

    • Ok so i will NEED to have this sensor anyway even with Nistune (or standalone ECU) https://justjap.com/products/genuine-nissan-boost-pressure-sensor-evap-control-system-fits-nissan-r34-skyline-c34-nm35-stagea-pnt30-x-trail-rb25det-vq25det-sr20vet?currency=AUD&srsltid=AfmBOoqfxX48bW9bEwH62orcNhtBfp7ekAL0C9Ca89ySFGUiBzXfXeze Is this the correct one? And this is only thing i need? No other "things" connected to the sensor or something? I do have the wiring.
