but half you guys dont even own GTR . how do you know they are better than gtir? LOL .

true.

All I can say is I find it hard to compare such different classes of car. I mean they are both 4wd but were designed for totally different applications. That said if you pumped infinite dollars into both of them my guess would be they would be hard to fault in a straight line or round corners.... I am probably way off the mark but there's my spin on things.

Bottom line is that a GTi R is a great car...

And why compare a rally bred hatch to a Group A/circuit bred coupe? Doesnt make sense!!

Thats like comparing a LeMans 24 hr car to a Drag car....

Designed and built for totally different purposes so both have pluses and minuses...

Again: GTiR=Good car. :(

if the gti-r was such a great car nissan would have kept making them!

i looked at a few when lookin to get my skyline but the interior is nuttin crash hot! very exective like.

From a traffic light drag the gti-r might get the jump on the skyline but on a rolling start the skyline can pull away. Heck with only 155kw@wheels i ran a gtir 4 times with rolling starts upto 180 click and i had 5-6 car lenghts on him each time by 180.

I think you'll find that the GTI-R was only built as a homologation for WRC purposes. It didn't cut it at the top level as a rally car so they didn't need to keep making them. Doesn't mean they aren't a great performance car though.

GTI-Rs are great cars,

SR20 is proven

Quad throttle body

Light and AWD

Respond well to mods - you can get hell gear for them

But - you MUST get an oil cooler for them or the engine will fry.... (if pushing then hard)

Also handy for a dinner party when you are serving grated Parmesan and Spag Bol.......

    • I am yet to see anyone ever regret a quaife or helical. ...other than drifting/skidpan duties. I kind of want to upgrade my factory helical with a Quaife (but really it's not ultimately that different, and is a MASSIVE UNDERTAKING), that's how good the hype is about them, that I want to try them 'just to see'
    • D2 and Ksport are essentially the same thing and basically just generic Taiwanese manufacture. Better than ChinaBay crap, but... not top shelf. Öhlins have got to be some of the best dampers around, so likely to be a good option. It's going to get to the point though where I suggest you buy from Oz. We have at least 2x excellent options here. If I were you though, I'd be talking to KW about doing something for the R33. There's bugger all difference between that and the 32. In GTR land, anyway.
    • KW only offers a set for the R32 GTR. Popular options are D2 racing, Ksport or Öhlins. I have a D2 Racing coilover set, though I don't know for sure which one.
    • Well, the good news is you have more than one very good option for new coilovers in and around your country. Worth the drive over to KW to talk about GTR stuff.
    • Fair enough, I am in no way a tire expert so I'm not familiar with all the terms and conditions. I'll definitely note down the AD09 to potentially try in the future. Rain is not too big of a concern for now as I will probably only drive in the rain when I have to. And considering I still lack experience driving the GTR I'd more than likely take it easy too. I have coilovers in the car but as I barely got to drive so far I never bothered to even check if they are adjustable haha. The suspension is almost entirely old and worn as well so I suppose when I eventually fix that in the future that would make a huge difference.
