A while ago (3 and a half months) i lost my license due to taking a fall for a friend. Anywho my license was suspended for 6 months. Over all i never sped or burned rubber or anything, this friday morning when i was going to work a police officer pulled me over. To cut the story short, i will recieve a summons to court in about 2 months.... thats just when i actually get my license back...... Now this is a question what will the fine be, will it be extended more? or just a lump sum of a payement or both??

Im really lost here guys, if anybody knows anything about this please let me know. cheers

It will be extended most likely, could well be another 6 months.

As its your second offence (because you were stupid enough to take a fall for an idiot, cause he isnt your mate)... you'll get slapped with a bigger fine.

Maybe around $500-$700 mark i would expect for that.

Its only a rough guess, could be more or less, but thats around what i would be expecting to get slammed with.

Seems like you didnt learn the first time, and certainly not the second, may god help you

hmm nah that was just it, over all lets say if i didnt get in the drivers seat he would be in jail.. anywhays thats a long story lol

i work at burwood in telstra and i live in narre warren. Now every day i use to cach 2 buses and a train to get to my work....takes me like 2 hrs

on friday i was late and i took my car, it was traffic and i was driving normally no reving no nothing, then out of nowhere he pulled me over....

I had a serious talk to him and told him that i was seriously running late he preety much told me that he is sorry but he has to do his job, which i understand.

Droped me off at a train station and i had to leave my car there, as i was getting out of the car, he told me "sorry mate".

Anywho since this is the first time i got caught without a license, im just hoping they dont take it away for another 6 months, cauze the public transport is unreal, late and so daym annoying after a little time....

did anybody get caught driving with their license taken?

You will loose it for longer, there is no doubt in my mind.

You obviosuly didnt learn the first time, and the judge is going to see it that way aswell regardless of what you sprog on the court room.

what didnt he learn the 1st time? He said he didnt do it the 1st time.... or am i misunderstanding this?

Driving while susepneded is a criminal offence and as such has harsh penalities. You will lose your license for a longer period and in the worst case cancelled, which means you go for your license again. Get a lawyer and get ready to go to court.

I don't know why you would stupid enough to take the wrap for a mate for 6 month suspension and have such a major blemish on your driving record. This affects insurance and any other fines you get in the furure for the next 3 to 5 years. I think you better be having a word to your mate and get him to pay for your legal costs to be honest.

"hmm nah that was just it, over all lets say if i didnt get in the drivers seat he would be in jail.."

So presumably when you go to court you won't quote any of the "taking the wrap" part which is why this will appear as your 2nd mistake?

He must have taken care of you very very well for him to be spared jail time and you to wear a ban which has now had further ramifications for you.

In answer to your original question, Ash would be near to the money I would say but you have also fallen foul of increased anger/frustration against the modified car community at this time so you may be made an example of.

I wouldn't continue driving that's for sure. You'll easily end up in jail. I know someone that's been in jail 3 times for unlicenced driving offences and the first time he served 3 months so take your pick.. public transport to work or a new job making number plates.

No true friend would let you take responsibility for their poor decisions.

oooh oooh

ok i lost my license, and well had to keep driving to work, and occasionally having to drive my ex around as she didnt quite have her licence at the time (this was a while ago guys :()

anywho, got caught driving unlicensed twice.

Here is what happened

first time, $700 fine, no further extension on loss.

second time (they actually thought it was first offence, u can goto jail for up to 3 mths for ur second offence) $400 fine and a further 6 mths, now i only had my license back for 3 weeks, but gone again it was.

I pray you arent going to dandenong court, the judge there is an absolute asshole. All i can say is, seek legal aid when you goto court, they will ajourn the hearing for you, you will get a new date in the mail ... and they will represent you for free.

You'll find Judges are just confined to one court either.

Certain days they are in certain places... and most of them these days dont look well upon traffic offenses.

There is one judge who is an ex-copper, i had him for one of mine... and he absolutely gave it to the officer who charged me incorrectly, was quite amusing to watch without laughing :(

Hmmmm so there is a little hope after all... the thing is i am going to court to dandenong.... and because of all the rough things that have happened around there i guess the judge wont be light with me.....

As for the friend lets just say hes a living legend.... he preety much saved my dads life when he had a heart attack long story short if he wasnt there my dad would be dead.... so loosing my license for him i would do it again....

As for the court case, yeah i guess i will have to go to the legal aid, and just ask him what would be the harshest punishment i will get, im guessing a big fine and another 6 months....

i dono ill talk honestly with the judge because in the last 3 months i drove my car 3 times, twice to the shops and the time i got caught..... ah well what can ya do

ill keep updating to see what comes of this, anywhays guys tnx alot, at least i get some idea whats awaiting me there

The whole story with the police officer was this, he pulls me over and asks for id. I step out of the car, and said i dont have my drivers livense but i do have bankcard et etc he takes those and goes back to his car, writing on on a pad my details...

Comes back says "Ok mayt, so what was happening here", Thats where i told him, look im really sorry about this, for the past 3 months i have been taking public transport to work, today i woke up late and drove.

He says "Fair enough", then adds "Is it ok if i added that to your answer to this question, Why were you driving with a cancelled license" i said "yea"

Then he says did you know about your license condition, i said yea, and that was preety much it. He made me park my car on the side. After that i preety much

told him that i was sorry and that i know that i am at fault, he interrupted me and said "Look mayt i understand ya, but its my job" i said "fair enough officer"

Started walking to the train station, which was about 5kms away. He pulls up next to me and says "jump in fella ill drop you off at the train station" So i jump in

and he tells me his police id number, so when i go to work and if they ask me why i am late, i can say that i was helping him out with a car accident.

Honestly speaking the guy was a preety understandable officer, at the end when i was coming out he told me that i might get a summons to court, to which i said thank you for the ride officer, have a nice day.

Strangley enough as i was waiting for the train with my head down, i noticed him looking at the notes, then driving off with a nod as i looked at him.

Sure i would love it nothing more than if he just tells me not to do it again..... but im also hoping that he comes to court maybe just give me a fine, but yea stuff like that happens, so ill keep you guys posted, once again tnx for all the input guys, really appericate it

Mate it will be fine and further suspension. It will give you a conviction for suspended so if you get caught again after that your car can be impounded under new HOON laws and very likely to get jail time. Courts are very hard on traffic offenders in my opinion compared to Crime offenders like Burglar's and theives.

Good Luck with it.

    • I think the concept is highlighting the various scenarios where thicker oil helps, and thicker oil potentially doesn't help and only generates heat and costs power, in turn for safety which isn't actually any safer (unless you're going real hot). If anything this does highlight why throwing Castrol 10w-60 for your track days is always a solid, safe bet.
    • Jason should have shown a real viscosity vs temp chart. All the grades have very little viscosity difference at full operating temperature.

    • Yep, if you are applying filler it sounds like there is something wrong with the body lol. Safe to assume there is going to be a lot of sanding going on if your still applying fillers.  Picture a perfect bare metal panel, smooth as glass. You lay down your primer, it's perfect. (why are you going to sand it?) You lay down the colour and clear, it's perfect. No sanding at all took place and you've got a perfectly finished panel.  You won't be chasing your tail, sounds like you were prepping to start laying filler. If your happy with the body after the sanding, there is some bare metal exposed and some areas with primer, no issues at all, start laying the filler. You are safe to lay filler on bare metal or primer (of course check your technical data sheet as usual for what your filler is happy to adhere to).  This isn't a 100% correct statement. There is primer that is happy to adhere to smooth bare metal. There are fillers that are happy to adhere to smooth bare metal. Just make sure you're using the right materials for the job.  Typically if you are using filler, you would go primer, colour and clear. I've never seen any instances before where someone has laid colour over body filler (maybe this happens, but I haven't seen it before). So your plan sounds pretty normal to me.
    • I don't think there's any way someone is push starting this car.. I honestly can barely move it, and moving it and steering it is just flat out not possible. I'm sure it is, but needs a bigger man than me. I have a refurbished starter now. The starter man was quite clear and consise showing me how nothing inside a starter really should contribute to slow cranking, and turned out that for the most part... my starter was entirely fine. Still, some of the wear items were replaced and luckily it didn't show any signs of getting too hot, being unfit for use, etc. Which is 'good'. I also noticed the starter definitely sounded different, which is a bit odd considering nothing should have really changed there.... Removed and refit, and we'll pretend one of the manifold bolts didn't fully tighten up and is only "pretty" tight. GM only wants 18ft/lb anyway. I also found a way to properly get my analog wideband reading very slightly leaner than the serial wideband. There's Greg related reasons for this. The serial output is the absolute source of truth, but it is a total asshole to actually stay connected and needs a laptop. The analog input does not, and works with standalone datalogging. Previously the analog input read slightly richer, but if I am aiming at 12.7 I do not want one of the widebands to be saying 12.7 when the source of truth is 13.0. Now the source of truth will be 12.65 and the Analog Wideband will read 12.7. So when I tune to 12.7 it'll be ever so slightly safer. While messing with all of this and idling extensively I can confirm my car seems to restart better while hot now. I did add an old Skyline battery cable between the head and the body though, though now I really realise I should have chosen the frame. Maybe that's a future job. The internet would have you believe that this is caused by bad grounds. In finding out where my grounds actually were I found out the engine bay battery post actually goes to the engine, as well as a seperate one (from the post) to the body of the car. So now there's a third one making the Grounding Triangle which is now a thing. I also from extensive idling have this graph. Temperature (°C) Voltage (V) 85 1.59 80 1.74 75 1.94 70 2.1 65 2.33 60 2.56 55 2.78 50 2.98 45 3.23 40 3.51 35 3.75 30 4.00   Plotted it looks like this. Which is actually... pretty linear? I have not actually put the formula into HPTuners. I will have to re-engage brain and/or re-engage the people who wanted more data to magically do it for me. Tune should be good for the 30th!
