Ok a quick update.

My head gasket finaly arrived from Tomei Custom one 83.5mm bore and 1.5mm thick.

Also New HKS oil cooler kit arrived in the same package.

Plenum is off being welded by a fellow names GT somewhere down gold coast way not sure who he is but came highly recommended.

So I am on the lookout for a rb20 billet fuel rail to suit 650cc Sard injectors, a 90mm billet throttle body and a nice thick alloy radiator.

Can anyone recommend any they have seen around, prefer one where the butterfly actually closers cleanly.

Cheers

Pics will be up soon

An update you want, An update you shall get!

The engines together and sitting in my car port, working on gearbox, plenum, and exhaust manifold. I decided to give it a crack at making my own exhaust manifold before I bought a 6Boost job from Kyle.

Thanks Kyle for the flanges and a few pointer's, be nice its my first time TIG welding :)

Yea thought about the lag but its goign to rev to 9500rpm and is built for it. We are looking at running 29 - 30psi thought it on the dyno.

Anyone know any good machine shops in Western subs brisbane need to machine flat the exhaust manifold flange as its warped a bit from welding it.

Thanks for the Gary, Have filled it up with silicone, Its a rb26 n1 Pump which looked the same as the one I got off my original rb20, but filled it up anyway as it looked a lil suspect.

So there is no bolt in the slotted hole, meaning no threaded hole in your RB20 block?

hi,

new here,

doing an rb24 build myself over in ireland. much the same. did you get the uprated crank collar for the gtr crankshaft?

any updates as yet? are your cams rb20 or rb26 cams? also are you running tomei valve guides or larger ones?

keep up the good build

Hi Reuben,

As far as i'm aware there is an updated crank collar on the crank shaft, But I am using a stock rb26 oil pump which will be heaps of oil flow for the rb20head.

My cams at TOMEI 270 IN & EX 9.25mm lift made for the rb20, I also paired them with TOMEI solid lifters and 2.6 Shims. As for the valve guides they are custom guides made by a local engine machine shop.

Cheers

Cameron,

You wouldn't happen to have a spec sheet for your pistons would you. I just got a set of custom pistons made by

JE and they came with a slight dome. They also seem to have move the compression height on mine down 3mm instead of 2.

They look a little different then any of the RB24 pistons I've seen before. At least if it's too much dome I can just have it shaved off.

Mine are the complete oppostie to yours, inverted by 2mm so the domes resessed into the piston, not sure on the term.

I don't have the spec sheet any more sorry, And i can't get to the numberon the bottom of the piston to get the info again from ROSS.

But my oil ring is 4.25mm in height from memory. Sorry I can't be much assistance i will try get the info from my mechanic.

Ok i dug up an email from ROSS regarding the ring specs, I have emailed them to get a copy of the specs for the pistons.

RINGS:

Bore size is 3.270” Ring grooves are 1.2 mm, 1.5mm, 4.75mm radial depths are .134”, .144”, .180”

    • Nope.    Grab a varex and turn it down as you get close to home, win win?
    • So, I've had my V36 for about a month now and have already copped an "excessive exhaust noise" notification from QLD TMR, reported by someone in my local area. It's a twin as per the original, and can have a bit of a throaty note to it when idling cold 😄 and if I do get up it a bit, it can be noisy, but it did pass a roadworthy inspection before sale, so.... ... but in the interest of being a good neighbour, I do want to quieten it down a bit. Is anyone here running a quiet aftermarket cat-back on their V36 or 370Z? And the big, bold question: does an aftermarket cat-back really make much of a performance difference on these cars?
    • The wiring diagram for the R33 RB25 is freely available, and is essentially the same same as most other RBs (just with differences as to which pin # does which job). To get the ECU to power up, you just need to provide power to the ECCS relay, and have the other power feeds that come in from the top left of the wiring diagram (wrt the ECU) that give perma power to the fuel pump relay, the ECU itself, etc etc, all connected. When you put power on all these it will just come to life. It's pretty clear from the diagram what needs to happen. Just follow the lines from the 12V + supply stuff in the top left over towards the ECU. I've even posted snips of such diagrams (not for vanilla 25, I think for Neo and 26) to various threads here in the last few months, talking about what it takes to get the fuel pump and FPCM up and going. Search these up and they will help get you started on doing the same with the vanilla 25 diagram. Hell, for all I know, I've done the same with that one in years past and have forgotten.
    • Yep...so unless someone posts up the answer you will need to probe from the ECU connector to the dash plug with a multi meter in continuity mode to trace the wires.  Note the ECU has multiple - and + (and across different key settings - Battery, IGN and Start) and most likely the power is fed from the connector(s) that is normally near the left hand headlight.
    • Thanks Duncan, I am actually just trying to get the Rb turning and running with the RB25DET S2 original loom itself  I am just trying to get it going outside the body and not thinking about the S15 or trying to match anything to the S15 loom at all I am only trying to see if anyone has done this and what pin they found to be the ignition trigger and ECU+/- on the dash connector, that's about it. Thanks
