Ah the Brembo pads on ebay im guessing?

I use to sell them, got them directly from the Aussie Brembo agents as im a wholesaler, they are a cheap Semi metalic Asian Brembo line, rated to 650 but not made in Italy. (boxes cleverly do not state country of origin)

I had a few threats of court action from customers about them...they are that good if you get me.

Brembo by name only, not Brembo by nature.

Just some feedback on Bendix Ultimates

Car: 89 R32 GTR

Rotors: DBA slotted

Use: Street driving only (EDIT)

Braking performance seems quite good. Although they are extremely noisy after more than 3-4 minutes of street driving.

I have bedded them in as described by a few on this forum but have not taken any other steps to try and reduce noise.

Would not recommend the bendix ultimates, as performance doesn't feel any better than my EBC reds that I had previously, and the reds didn't have the noise issues.

Bit of an update on the Intima SS

About 6 months in of daily use with these and I can't complain at all about them

Gave them their first really good test a week or so ago along my favourite 5km stretch of country road, which really tests the brakes out on the downhill stretches and stopping from faster speeds coming into corners on the uphill section

They performed very well, with a slight amount of performance drop after 5 mins of heavy use. Not sure if this was pad or fluid related but I couldn't have been much harder on the brakes and they held up great

Looking at the pads I've got around 3/5 of the pad left after 6 months or so, and rotor wear and brake dust is very minimal

I do get a tiny bit of brake shudder when stopping from higher speeds with medium pedal pressure - say slowing from 100 to 40 or so turning off highway roads - the kind of normal braking you'd do to stop gently/normally. Stomping on them a bit harder see's this go away

So whats the conclusion for best all rounders on stock rotors..?

By all rounder I assume it's daily driver that see's some spirited driving? I'd recommend the Intima SS as above

How dusty are the Intima SS? I've got Remsa pads on all round atm but they're dusty af... they perform awesomely though, but if you don't wash out the brake dust every week they seem to drop in performance.

Last time we tested the Bendix Ultimates, a female careful slow driver got 20000Km out of them in a BA Falcon doing city driving.

After 20000Km the new rotors were all undersized, wheels went black within a day of driving everyday, braking for normal street driving was great but i cannot justify the expense of changing rotors and pads every 20000Km.

They are just too aggressive on rotors.

Changed the rotors, fitted EBC Red Stuff, zero dust now after the bed in phase, no more dust, no more rotor wear, 60000 Km later the same pads and rotors are still on the car, pads have about 40% left on them, rotors look 3000Km old, zero wear, no lips on them.

I can't fault the Intima SS pads, done around 12,000 on them so far and no noise, bugger all dust and rotor wear

I'm in the same boat... love the performance of the Remsa pads but fark me the dust... plus having white wheels and practically ocd with keeping them clean lol.

Edit again wasn't thinking straight lol...

I had intima sr previously and wasn't a big fan...

Now I'm stuck between qfm, intima ss, heard great things about the ebc green stuff but on mazdas anyone used them on a skyline.

My GT-R came with Green stuff and they were shit (I rear ended someone with them lol). Changed to QFM HPX and the difference was huge (didn't even do a brake bleed/flush).

What didn't you like about the Intima SR? They're supposed to be equivalent to QFM A1RM, right?

I had EBC Greenstuff on my old car and thought they were fine. They didn't last very long though. I've had the QFM HPX pads, very dusty and I could not get them to be quiet. I had squealing in all 4 corners. Remsa shut the noise up in 3 corners.

I think the sr's are track orientated pads... squishy, noisy and dull breaking until they're extremely hot then they perform, which by then is too late haha lol... hmm first time I've heard bad against the qfm, and also heard they are dustless previously... yeah I feel you on that Sarge the dust just isn't normal, looks like I'm leaning towards the intima ss pads then.

EBC Green stuff is for light kit cars around up to 850Kg and rated to 500 degrees.

I have spoken to EBC Australia about this, now you cant buy them in Aus anymore because of it.....Minimum is Red stuff now.

What local shops sell EBC pads? I can only find online shops.

Im in Melbourne (Bricks and mortar and online shop) and carry them.

Most shops dont hold them because they are expensive, however RDA/EBC deliver daily, most times twice a day so most shops dont carry them as they have no need to, ask they they are a few hours away.

Go Intima SS, AFM A1RM or the likes are garbage.

I know in the past there were many fan boys who supported QFM, I was one of them.. but these days there are other better pads to be had.

I will chime in here.

I used Intima SR for a track day. and they sucked a big proverbial dick. I literally crumbled them on the track.

QFM a1rm did 3 track days in one set of pads and they stopped my boat much quicker.

So for me the intima pads are "garbage"

The ss would be on par with the hpx, which I now also have and they drive absolutely great for normal street duties.

    • Update 3: Hi all It's been a while. Quite a lot of things happened in the meantime, among other things the car is (almost) back together and ready to be started again. Things that I fixed or changed: Full turbo removal, fitting back the OEM turbo oil hardlines. Had to do quite a bit of research and parts shopping to get every last piece that I need and make it work with the GT2860 turbos, but it does work and is not hard to do. Proves that the previous owner(s) just did not want to. While I was there I set the preload for the wastegates to 0,9bar to hopefully make it easier for the tuner to hit the 370hp I need for the legal inspections that will follow later on. Boost can always go up if necessary. Fitted a AN10 line from the catch can to the intake hose to make the catchcan and hopefully the cam covers a slight vacuum to have less restrictive oil returns from the head and not have mud build up as harshly in the lines and catch can. Removed the entire front interior just shy of the dashboard itself to clean up some of the absolutely horrendous wiring, (hopefully) fix the bumpy tacho and put in LED bulbs while I was there. Also put in bulbs where there was none before, like the airbag one. I also used that chance to remove the LED rpm gauge on the steering column, which was also wired in absolute horror show fashion. Moved the 4in1 Prosport gauge from sitting in front of the OEM oil pressure gauge to the center console vents, I used a 3D printed vent piece to hold that gauge there. The HKB steering wheel boss was likely on incorrectly as I sometimes noticed the indicator reset being uneven for left vs. right. In the meantime also installed an airbag delete resistor, as one should. Installed Cube Speed premium short shifter. Feels pretty nice, hope it'll work great too when I actually get to drive. Also put on a fancy Dragon Ball shift knob, cause why not. My buddy was kind enough to weld the rust hole in the back, it was basically rusted through in the lowermost corner of the passenger side trunk area where the wheel arch, trunk panel and rear quarter all meet. Obviously there is still a lot of crustiness in various areas but as long as it's not rusted out I'll just treat and isolate the corrosion and pretend it's not there. Also had to put down a new ground wire for the rear subframe as the original one was BARELY there. Probably a bit controversial depending on who you ask about this... but I ended up just covering the crack in the side of the engine block, the one above the oil feed, with JB Weld. I used a generous amount and roughed up the whole area with a Dremel before, so I hope this will hold the coolant where it should be for the foreseeable future. Did a cam cover gasket job as the half moons were a bit leaky, and there too one could see the people who worked on this car before me were absolute tools. The same half moons were probably used like 3 times without even cleaning the old RTV off. Dremeled out the inside of the flange where the turbine housing mates onto the exhaust manifolds so the diameter matches, as the OEM exhaust manifolds are even narrower than the turbine housings as we all know. Even if this doesn't do much, I had them out anyways, so can't harm. Ideally one would port-match both the turbo and the manifold to the gasket size but I really didn't feel up to disassembling the turbine housings. Wrapped turbo outlet dumps in heat wrap band. Will do the frontpipe again as well as now the oil leak which promted me to tear apart half the engine in the first place is hopefully fixed. Fitted an ATI super damper to get rid of the worn old harmonic balancer. Surely one of the easiest and most worth to do mods. But torquing that ARP bolt to spec was a bitch without being able to lock the flywheel. Did some minor adjustments in the ECU tables to change some things I didn't like, like the launch control that was ALWAYS active. Treated rusty spots and surface corrosion on places I could get to and on many spots under the car, not pretty or ideal but good enough for now. Removed the N1 rear spats and the carbon surrounding for the tailpipe to put them back on with new adhesive as the old one was lifting in many spots, not pretty. Took out the passenger rear lamp housing... what do you know. Amateur work screwed me again here as they were glued in hard and removing it took a lot of force, so I broke one of the housing bolts off. And when removing the adhesive from the chassis the paint came right off too. Thankfully all the damaged area won't be visible later, but whoever did the very limited bodywork on this car needs to have their limbs chopped off piece by piece.   Quite a list if I do say so myself, but a lot of time was spent just discovering new shit that is wrong with the car and finding a solution or parts to fix it. My last problem that I now have the headache of dealing with is that the exhaust studs on the turbo outlets are M10x1.25 threaded, but the previous owner already put on regular M10 nuts so the threads are... weird. I only found this out the hard way. So now I will just try if I can in any way fit the front pipe regardless, if not I'll have to redo the studs with the turbos installed. Lesson learned for the future: Redo ALL studs you put your hands on, especially if they are old and the previous owners were inept maniacs. Thanks for reading if you did, will update when the engine runs again. Hope nothing breaks or leaks and I can do a test drive.

    • Yea - I mean I've seen my fuel pump which is decades old and uh, while I'm not saying this with real knowledge... but I sure get the ick at using anything in the fuel system that produced the state of that pump. Many years ago I went through multiple pumps (and strainers) before I dropped the tank to clean it out with extreme violence. I'm talking the car would do maybe 50km before coming to a halt, which resulted in me cleaning out the filter with some brake cleaner and going on my way. None of my stuff ever looked like what came out of your fuel tank. I don't think I'd be happy with it unless every single component was replaced (or at least checked/cleaned/confirmed to be clean here).
