Some nice track cars on here so i thought i'd post up my Rally car for anyone interested.

Built it up myself with my Dad and i run it in the Amsag rally series and Cams events. It is time for something new though so S13 Silvia is in production at the moment and hoping to have that up and running by mid next year. Looking to be able to do some track days in it as well although it wont be that well set up for tar.

good one Jason. What's in it?

I have a soft spot for the old Dattos. Had my share of 1200 coupes, sedans and a ute, 120Y coupes and a wagon with everything from A12 on twin SUs, A12 turbo, L16-18-20 and CA18DET engines. And a 4.4l V8 240K coupe.

Yeh gotta love them simple to work on and take a beating day in day out with not much complaint haha.

It has the A15 with plenty of head work big cam, bored out and running twin Dhelorto's. The rest of the work is in the suspension disc brakes all round with vented rotars etc etc its prolly taken about 3-4 years of playing around to get it up to a decent car that is supprisingly quick against all the 1600's and even some of the 4wd guys. It just lacks any straight line speed so ive decided to retire her and go with the Silvia which is going to be a whole different story but im looking forward to it.

oooh any pics or more info on the 240K?

it was a project car several years ago now, but I sold it on. Shouldn't have, it was a really clean rust free shell. Had flares, not the GTR style ones but would have been easy to change them over. It was a Leyland P76 4.4l Alloy V8, basically a bigger version of the old Rover V8. Supra 5spd. Should have kept it... I have some pics somewhere on the hard drive at home, but it wasn't much to look at really. I bought it at a time when I had about 3 projects on the go and never did anything with the car. Always regretted selling it though, and even tried to track it down to buy it back a couple of years ago...

mates parents gave him a 240K as a first car... was absolutely mint, old lady owner had done about 60,000km... he whinged about it and we used to make fun of it, sold it really cheap in the end... now they are popular again and worth a bit he is spewing he got rid of it... some flares, chin spoiler, a V8 and some old school 0 offset rims... would have been perfect!

hindsight is always 20/20

that is a good price! turbo clubman ftw!

look what Santa's bringing me. It may be a slightly late delivery, but I'll let him slide just this once:

these are unbelievably good value from the states at the moment. Will wait till I see how long they take to get here and what the service is like after handing over the money before I recommend this guy to anyone though.

I am loving the idea of a Clubman, but reading up on the whole Lotus 7 Replica cars there are a few good ones around and soooo many dodgy ones. How do you tell the difference

I want a R300 Caterham without an engine then throw in some sweet 9,000rpm NA goodness :D But then i live in an apartment that already has a living room full of parts so think i need a house before something like that :D

Defiantly not doable in an apartment, nor is a datto :D

    • Hi guys, long time no post as per usual! It's been a busy year so far, the biggest thing being a new job.  After 28 years in the automotive industry I decided it was time for a change.  I was losing faith in the industry and where it's heading.  Now in a completely different industry (electrical) working for a company that manufacture water pump contollers.  Not as sexy as cars but it's an interesting,  challenging industry. I now don't work Saturdays which is a bonus!  It's still 50-55 hours a week but having Saturdays ack after 28 years of working them is awesome!   No news on the GT-R but i did decide to add some more JDM goodness into my life....           1990 300 ZX.  She's not perfect but for a 35 year old car she ain't bad!  Just going to tidy it up a bit and enjoy it.  It's currently auto but will start stockpiling everything for a manual swap. It WILL distract me even further from the GT-R but im hoping not for too long! It somewhat proves a 6'8" freak can fit in a 300 ZX.  Sort of...  I drove it home from the previous owners house in Melbourne via Black Spur and Merton Gap (2 awesome bits of Victorian twisty road) and it was amazing!  Handles so well!!!   I don't think it would be worthy of a full build page but I'll post up some of the upgrades here if anyone is interested?  Cheers guys!
    • End game is to: - Remove all the slop from old worn parts - Adjust setup so that the wheels actually fit and the car is drivable (currently it is not because of the extreme rubbing on the guards).   Progress over the last couple of days, removed the rear hubs! Next steps: - Buy bushings - Replace bushings/bearings on hub - Reinstall
    • Cracked deck  And other cam snap stuff
    • A few random issues have popped up since my last update. My WMI pressure sensor failed within about 10 minutes of it seeing liquid. It was a 20$ China special, so I'm not surprised. My name brand replacement should arrive today.  My power steering assist also decided to crap out last weekend. The usual, works for about 60 seconds after starting the car then I lose it. I dusted off my old copy of NDS and connected to the HICAS ECU. Code 4 for assist solenoid.... I tested the solenoid and it's fine.  I knew the day where my HICAS ecu would crap out would come, and I welcome it. It was the last HICAS part on the car that is now in the bin. I've ordered an SSR and I will control the power steering solenoid with my Haltech ecu. It will be nice to have proper speed referenced assist again after all these years.
