Automatic gearbox can be a tempremental sometimes, a friends V 300GT has gearbox dramas, Best bet is too fit an aftermrket Gearbox oil cooler. Solves the problem.

I Don't know if you guys have had the problem, but i have read forums in the U.S. where oil consumption with some g35 and mostly 6mt, seems to be a real issue. Infinity if pushed, has replaced engines.

Does anyone know for sure if the g35 is made in Japan or the U.S. because i was told this was a U.S. problem?

My drivers side power window switch is starting to work only when it wants...

You will need to replace your window electric motor available from Nissan @ approx $350

I've had to replace both now

They also seem to have issues with clicking rear wheels

Welcome.

lol, nah, I didn't have anything like that. But hey, as long as it works, and it seems it works even better now, haha. My range isn't very long, so wouldn't mind the double...

What you mean clicking rear wheels? What is the actual problem?

I am having problems again with my central locking and power window both on the driver's side. The auto electrician who knows the V35 repacked the power window motor and aligned the gears and it worked for a while but has now shit itself again.

Any clues why both have gone - do they use the same controller? Are the motors for both the same as the 350Z?

The window is locked in the up position and it interfers with the top moulding when closed because the release memory for the window to open and close the door is also not operating. Any clues as to what's happening??

Unfortunately seems to be quite a common problem. A few of the 350z guys have reconditioned the power window motor but also didn't last long so they just go out and buy new motors. Best price I've seen is $500 for both passanger and drivers side. Not sure why it would interfere with the central locking though.

  • 1 month later...

I've been searching for info on V35's to replace my ageing POS 1994 Maxima.

Window failure in a Nissan again! I thought they fixed this problem, how the hell do they manage to replicate it again? :P

The window motors in the Maxima have been replaced by an auto elec, after Nissan charged me $200 just to look at the car. All up has cost me $500+ and they still don't work!

The back rear window is chocked up with wood, which is very stylish.

The front windows would not come back up so I reversed the polarity and used the door entry keypad to wind them back up then disconnect the power all together.

Basically I don't need to deal with this f**king bullshit again in another Nissan.

Anyone actually had someone fix the windows in the V35 and have them stay fixed before I even think about buying a V35?

Is the same problem in R33/34s or just the V35?

    • Congratulations on your find  Did you mean it has 6k miles or was that a typo? Firstly, keep in mind some movement of the shifter is normal...it is a long rod hanging out of a box bolted to the engine. Having said that there are 2 next places to look: 1. Transmission and engine mounts. If these are worn or broken the shifter will move around more. They are reasonably easy to source and replace on a hoist, and possible but uncomfortable to replace car stands 2. On the bottom of the shifter there is a nylon cup that sits over shifter's ball end. If this is worn or broken the shifter will move around more than it should (but will still shift OK). That is a cheap part and requires removal of centre console, rubber shifter hole covers and a circlip in the gearbox shifter hole to remove the shifter. Re maintenance, as with any new import you should change all the fluids including transmission when you get it; never trust the seller and previous owners to have done the right thing. I am pretty sure R34 GTT is the same as earlier big box transmissions, so use any good quality GL4 75w90 trans fluid if it is shifting well (if it is hard to shift due to synchro wear, redline shockproof lightweight will keep it alive a bit longer before rebuild is required)
    • Well considering I have the exact same problem with that as the original one I don't think that the ignitor is the problem. I would imagine that this being such an uncommon problem the possibility of getting a new ignitor that is bad in the same way as the old one has to be very slim. I'll definitely pull everything apart this weekend and check the turbo out. Got quite a bit of things to check out Saturday like fuel pressure and the pcv so I'll report back once I do that.  Thanks everyone for all the replies this is all really helpful
    • Rb's have issues with bottom end starvation, not head starvation. Which either way, you probably wouldn't ever see on a dyno. Strange... What's pump gas for you? Octane rating?
