The price on these things has come down by about $1,000 since they were released about a year ago. I have read the reports from purchasers who say that you get what you pay for.

BUT that was at $2300 for the callipers.

They are now $1300 including hatted rotors, pads, adapter plates and new hoses.

Why are they $1,000 cheaper in NZ than in Australia.

No one that has bought them has a bad thing to say and Just Jap are selling them for $2300 a set compared to $1,280 a set.

Im not saying skimp but lets be honest, 20 year old skyline GTR brake's Vs a brand new set with no bad reviews (yet).

Ive had two week old brembos fail on me at Phillip Island (thanks to very poor pad fitting by a major NSW seller of race brakes)

Edited by Dominic

Dom I ran these brakes at Targa they were fine - performed well no problems, no fade with good pads (I did have problems racing on the road pads). Got mine from Just Jap and just squeezed them under standard 17" rims. Also kit comes with everythin includin braided lines, shims to line up properly etc

BTW they are taiwanese with decent japanese seals, so not really chinese either (although chinese govt may disagree lol)

only thing to watch out...the original ones Just Jap had for GTRs had incorrect offset which caused ball joint to rub on rotor in hard cornering.....if you buy off ebay make sure it is the corrected kit as well.....offset is about 1cm further out

Hey Duncan, long time no see. Im back with a GTR and building it to Classic Adelaide Spec. This time an R32. Still keeping my EVO though.

In the end I actually found a better made kit for about $600 more

http://cityracer.trustpass.alibaba.com/pro...stem_Kits_.html

Forged aluminium and 850 degree pads, 2 piece rotors with hoses meeting international standards. Seems better value for $2200. 6 piston calipers with 330 by 32mm rotors

oh actually, i just read the article, they are actually D2, as long as they are geniune D2 i'd buy them :) and they are in NZ, might have to give the guy an email

lol, what is "genuine" D2? They are just like any other chinese made caliper/suspension/whatever except it has D2 written on them...

I think he means a real D2/Ksport/G2 as against a set of 8 pot ex champ car brembos with the letters D2 written on them;^)

They dont look too bad. But a few comments, if thats the hats they come with i would be a little concerned about there being so many holes around the bolts centres. I have seen normal; rotor crack between bolt holes, in fact only two weekend we almost wrote off a car in the bush on a rally stage because a rotor let go. And that was a 310mm aftermarket Volvo 1pce rotor...so pretty damn durable. And yet it still failed.

So having so many holes in the hat..well i hope its damn thick...and i cant think if a reason to have more then you need? Surely not weight.

Also the calipers look ok but they dont appear to have too many bolts between the forged havles. So thats just a casual obersvation based on the single pic...so couldbe miles out. But on the surface of it i think the cheaper D2 caliper "look" the better caliper and rotor

japaneese seals? lol.

just like my old k sport coil overs with "japanese made" damper in it. hahah only had to replace 3 rears in 6 months.

they seem to be ok performing. just like a wheel really. whether it be a cast piece of crap or a nice jap forging. they both do the same thing...

yeah there was definately one guy who had a manufacturing problem.....but I guarantee you the set I have had a genuine racing workout and were perfect.

Dom....whats the rules for classic adelaide - do they use CAMS tarmac rally regs like targa? ANd what is the cutoff year, mine is log booked as 94 r32, but I would love to try adelaide as well.

Cut off year is 1990 "but run on models are ok" look up their website. Pretty much the same rules as targa as most cars do both.

    • I can see between the water jacket and cyl 3 there wasn't a hard line of combustion gas. It certainly appears that the issue is coming from there. Yes, checked the tension. All at 100ft lbs where I set them 5 years ago. These blocks can crack but generally when they have been over bored. Mine is only 0.5mm oversize at 89.5mm. They break between cylinders around the 91mm mark. No sign of that with mine. My gut feeling is the head gasket lifted a while back when the studs stretched and i bandaided it by retorquing the studs. It's finally let go.

    • Yes, but, I paid cash and I'm pretty sure the receipt was in the bin 10 minutes after I got home Note to self, keep all receipts

    • So, version 4 intake is on its way I was looking at these a while ago but at around $200 or more it was a little pricey for something that might not work, but, I had it in my watch list, but, I got a message saying it was on special, and I had a code thingie to use, it eventually came in at $120 delivered, so BAM, BUY NOW.....LOL I'll need to have a look when it arrives but I feel it will "look" better than what I currently have, as it comes with a PCV fitting, so I will be able to get rid of the alloy pipe that goes to the throttle body with the PCV fitting  Well, that's what the voices in my head are telling me  Oh, and this happened today Yeap, it was a Trojan, and it was cheap, so I headed back to the hardware store and actually spent a little bit more on a heavy duty,  one that was actually recommended by a plumber mate, a Cyclone one with a fibreglass handle that is actually rated for clay The broken shovel will eventually be "modified" into a short handle shovel
