It would have been traded around a fair bit and I imagine someone with 1 wanting to swap it between their tens of cars often, to show off the plate, else be confined to driving the same car.

Pretty dated website...have seen 7 on a Ferrari a couple of years ago.

But like I said they prolly swap them around regularly. You wouldn't wanna leave one on there too long or park your car anywhere regularly else opportunists knock off the plate and give no fks for damaging the vehicle in the process.

My grandmother had 365 and that went for nearly 100k a few years ago. My uncle layed claim to them and sold them the week he inherited them the bastsrd.

They would fetch huge money from exclusivity; it's the one thing other rich people can't buy when all the numbers are taken.

What confuses me, is that the top 10 aren't always on the top spec cars from their respective manufacturers. Numberplates are clearly worth more than the cars, where will the extra 50k-100k for the top spec version be missed?

This site has a nice list of all the heritage numbered plates: http://www.vicheritageplates.com.au/spotted_1_digit_plates.html

Think "1" is owned by Lindsay Fox

lol, I always chuckle every once in a while discussion about the elusive "1" victorian rego plate comes up.... It's owned by Peter Bartels. He lives in my building.. owns like 4 mercs. It's on a silver E63. It's parked downstairs right now, I can go and take a pic of it if you like ;) These people are multi-millionaires.. There's another merc parked right next to it with 117, and a BMW X6 with the plates "95" lives in the building as well.

The real question here is which number do you, who lives in the same building, have? :P

while we're on the "1" plate discussion still:

just popped up on the Melbourne Exotic Car Spotting facebook page

GTRR34, no need to go take a picture :P

Facebook comments suggest that he turned down a $2 million dollar offer for the plates. Not sure if true or not

Kind of irrelevant if it is true or not; the plates are invaluable; really only worth what someone is willing to pay or in the case of rarity...what someone is willing to sell for. That could be a mil or it could be ten. In the case of cars and art though, people usually go off the last price it changed hands at...cause until it does sell you can't really say how much it's properly worth right?

  • 2 weeks later...

Spotted a white Lexus LFA in Pakenham yesterday. Only saw it for a split second and almost didn't believe it. Have only ever seen them as "Not For Sale" at a few select Lexus dealerships (Brighton ahs a yellow one and Blackburn has a white one) so seeing one, even for half a second, driving was sweeeeeeet :D

The white one at blackburn is HOT.... looks sexy... a lot of money for a not so fast car though.

Super sexy and quite literally the first car I'll buy if I hit the lotto big. Yeah, alot of cash for a car that would get outdone by the latest fazzas and lambos, but still quick in its own right though! Plus, the EXCLUSIVITY of it! Hhhnnngggggggggg!

    • Yea - I mean I've seen my fuel pump which is decades old and uh, while I'm not saying this with real knowledge... but I sure get the ick at using anything in the fuel system that produced the state of that pump. Many years ago I went through multiple pumps (and strainers) before I dropped the tank to clean it out with extreme violence. I'm talking the car would do maybe 50km before coming to a halt, which resulted in me cleaning out the filter with some brake cleaner and going on my way. None of my stuff ever looked like what came out of your fuel tank. I don't think I'd be happy with it unless every single component was replaced (or at least checked/cleaned/confirmed to be clean here).
    • I'm not going to recommend an EBC pad. I don't like them. Just about anything else would suit me better. I've been using Intima pads for a while now.
    • Agreed, and in particular the earth strap that should go from the subframe to the chassis but it often broken or left off. There is a section in the R32 workshop manual you can follow for troubleshooting if you don't see anything suspicious, and depending where you are (there is no location on your user profile) you should be able to get your hands on a second hand replacement unit still if needed
    • Yeah they mention as a R34 for 2.5 Turbo...but then again thos "small" were also for R34 by that different site. But i look into it and that 310mm EBC is for R34 GTT. And by those you linked the specs are the same 🙂    EDIT: I found these on one site here: DBA 4000 series T3 DBA42304S They are 310mm...and it says are for R34GTT...are there good? EDIT2: ok they have pads too.  What "color" should i get for street use? I dont want/need some noisy ones...(and if they are not that dusty that is good too)
    • Yeah, shame. Maybe  driver's carpet is available 🙏. I am waiting for both amayama and nangun to confirm.
