I just took a careful look at djr81's rotor photos - on my as yet uncracked DBA4000s, the slot is NOT machined all the way to the edge like it is in those photos. It stops a few mm short. Perhaps they updated the design?

djr...they don't make 5000's for the rears which is why I was considering 4000's

Also had a look at greenline and nengun and for the life of me I can't find mu or endless rotors for the rear of a 33....am I going blind?

No you are not.

Sorry for the bum steer. I thought they did. Dodgy memory.

I think the reason is that the handbrake works on the inner drum section (or hat if you like) So no one makes the hatted rotors for the rear.

They dont make any 5000 series at all for the povvo pack 32 R's either.

Except for a mob called Biot who appear to.

Hmmm so you can't get rear rotors from greenline/nengun and the RDA's and DBA's crack with track use....

Whats options am I left with to replace my worn stockies then?

You can get plenty of rotors, just not hatted ones. Check the usual imports mobs. Endless/Project Mu. With the way the dollar is going lately they will be practically giving them away....

The Biot stuff looks well bling if you can get your hands on them.

Maybe AP or Brembo do one also. Big $'s, but.

Actually looking at the difference between djrs and mine it looks like they may just machine the a 324 to bring it down 296 - look at the way the vanes go all the way to the edge on the 296's and are smoothly machined, where as the 324 still have the cast finish and stop well short of the edge. Perhaps they further machine poorly cast 324s to make them saleable as 296's....

Reckon you may be onto something there.

Notice also how much wasted rotor face there is on the inside of your rotor.

just because nengun says so doesn't make it true. I have bought from project mu scr pro rear rotors for BCNR33. yes they are 2 piece and have the drum built into the hat.

LOL...for the rears im thinking std Nissan with some home made slots machined into them

Im all for the fish hook or long curved slots like the G4 as there are less likely to be stress concentrators.

Im just going to sell my car and get a Mk 1 Escort. Single piston sold rotors are less complicated and up to the job when you have a 650kg 180hp car :(

Lol Baron....I wasn't suggesting that to be the case....I just need to find someone who will supply me the rotors here in Oz.....does anyone know who I could contact?

Sorry to bring this up again, but from where did you order them? I can't find anyone who either lists them or is willing to admit they can supply them...

And DBA are not talkign to me now, perhaps they dont want to lie as their investigations may have revealed that my installation was in no way at fault :P

Anyway, if they dont do something to stop the failures or at least properly educate those installing them then they are going to continue to lose lots of business, shame really. I woudll rather run used std Nissan rears then anything DBA, and its not because of money, just confidence in th :(e std product doing a better job then anything dba sell :P

    • Hope you aren't too sore after that one, might take a day or 2 to notice yet and I guess it is a loooooong drive home. On the bright side, tube frame front end is a thing at superlap, right?

    • The chart of front pressure to rear pressure (with one being on the x axis and the other being on the y axis) is not a straight line on a typical proportioning valve. At lower pressures there is a straight line with one slope, and at higher pressures that changes to a lower slope. That creates a bend in the line at that pressure, called the knee point. If you do not change the proportionng as the pressure gets higher, you will suffer excessive pressure (at one end of the car or the other, depending on which way you look at the proportioning action) and then get lockups at that end. The HFM BM57, from my memory of previous discussions, is based on the BM57 from a different car (to a Skyline), with a different requirement for the location of the knee point and the distribution of pressure front to rear, and so is not a good choice for an upgrade on a Skyline. Here's a couple of links to some old posts, one from here, one from elsewhere. A lot of it pertains to adjustable prop valves, but the idea is the same. There are plenty of discussions on here about this issue from al the many years of people wanting a cheap/accessible option. https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/ https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/
    • Yeah dunno why johhny posted that here with no context, just post on FB/insta bro where he put it up?  Laine had an off at T4 during Thurs prac, he's ok, car is less than perfect, they are done for the weekend, he can fill in the rest. Bando also binned it like 100m up the road.
