I was thinking (which is dangerous)

Have you had a chance to weigh the front and rear seperatly of a R32 gtst to compare it to your ls1 powered jobbie...would be interesting to see how far the weight has gone rearward with the lighter motor but heavier box, GTR diff etc

we know that complete ls2 weighs 90kg, we weighd rb25de today and it maxed out the scales so 120kg+

SO Judging from what I remeber the weight balence is standard. you should be very damn close to 50:50 front to rear.

I cant believe how light the Ls1's are 30+ kgs lighter than an RB25de is quite suprising so that would prob be more like 50+ kgs over a DET once you include The IC + Piping etc and not to metion all that hangs right at the front of the car.

yeh it is at least 30kg as that was the max the scale would read, and it was short steer pump and exhaust manifold.

weighed r33 tubo box today and it went 57.5kg. i was very surprised as i thought it would be lighteras thats only 5kg lighter than the tremec 6 speed.

so i think i am up somewhere between 35-55 kilos in the driveline which i am very happy with.

basically this means that the car should be easier to make handle and my power to weight is up.

1000kg and 400hp is looking good.

ok, just read the whole thread..(phew!)...nicely done indeedy...now.. if someone wants a 31 or 30 to put a v8 in..call me...anytime :O

interesting on the weight differences, who'd have thunk it eh?!!!

cant wait to see full pics and vid!!!

Not too much to report, recieved coil-overs from Gary last week. just waiting for the lower arms and bars and bush kits now which should have by friday so with a bit of luck i might have the car back on the ground on saturday arvo. Also close to purchasing front brake kit, so car will be pretty much a roller again. That will just leave engine completion, which i have all the parts for, wiring & exhaust. some fiddly bits to do also like tin-work and ducting. catch-cans etc..........neverending.

yeh, eye on the prize. keep putting myself behind the 8 ball though, finish one thing then find something else to buy. looking seriously at that intake again, tuner reckons there is free horespower to be had with being able to adjust runner lengths so it looks like it will be happening next. Also going to give the E85 a go as all the race meetings are sprints so consumption wont be an issue. Doing endurance events might mean 2 extra fuel stops.

Keep the end in mind Stu!

I might come past this week to talk the sphincter of the universe about servicing the golf........will let you know

i have no doubt there is more power to be made on E85, cooler intake temps coupled with higher octane levels allowing more agressive tuning, its the consumption that is the concern as i only have a 50liter tank. but if its OK for V8SC, im sure ill be fine.

e85 is a great idea....we might give that a shot too. we've got a drain valve on the fuel cell, and datalogit to switch the tunes easily....will be good to see how it compares

lol. that is pretty cool. finally get that decent engine into a decent chassis. :P I like it.

can't wait to see your thing rumbleing along stu. it will definitely rock.

    • Say you've just laid all your filler and your about to start sanding, how large is the sanding block your using?  Like a high fill primer? Technically possible but would be a nightmare. Just guessing from the photo, but they look small enough that you might get away with using a 1k spot putty. Normally you'd use something like this on pinholes but with the type of project you're working on I'd give it a go.
    • Omg Brake pedal removal.. FML!!
    • I mean, I can confirm the TPS is at 100%.... I can confirm when we installed the TB and setup the cable that the TB was indeed fully open at max pedal travel.. the same 'curve' (WRT MAP vs MAP) existed with the previous setup/TB/manifold as well... No, we did not do a run with no intake connected. I would love to go back in time to do such a run to rule out the intake. It would have also been good to do a run with the airbox lid off. There's a test there where increased IAT vs more available air could be a positive tradeoff. I remember taking the lid off my R34 Turbo setup back in the day and noticing a monster increase, even if IAT's did go up. Could be similar. Hard to test unless I find a very deserted road.
    • That's actually encouraging to be honest. my motor was rebuild many years ago but it's probably done less than 30,000kms and fucc all limiter or drift, majority street / drag / roll racing. It'll be fine 💪🏼 I don't even have lines or a can for the cam breathers installed yet, there is zero oil residue or splatter on or around them, it drives beautifully so it seems healthy. Just a ticky lifter, yet they're almost brand new oem genuine Nissan and haven't done many kms at all...
    • Have you confirmed the throttle body goes to WOT (and stays there) during the run?
