Want a nice engine rumble and the electronics of a Japanese car? Buy a Subaru and chuck an exhaust on it :) buy my Liberty *hint hint*

I've been a passenger in a VR 5.0L and I have to say it was pretty boaty compaired to my stock Skyline. If you want a car to leave rubber on the road, get the V8. If moving is your thing, the Skyline does quite well

Pffft, Commodore - shame on you, Greg!

Buy a Stagea - you know you want to...

Seriously, imagine owning and driving a Commodore at an event like the Texikhana - it would be a shocker. My cousin used to have a VN SV89, and it spent more time in the shop than on the road, constantly breaking stuff - gearboxes (upgraded to Corvette bands in the auto), power steering, etc.

That's not to say that Skylines don't break stuff too, but they're a much better engineered car from the ground up, and will surely handle some punishment with less problems.

come on greg... remember wen i took u for a drive down my street? it took me like 30 seconds to pick up lol... remember?

now think of wat u will get with the commonwhore??? either nothing or bogan chicks from i dunno cronulla...

besides uv already had a commonwhore...

Another thing... I was talking to a mate of mine who owns a V8 Commonwhore, he just did his cams... so his mod list is: Cams, zorst.

I asked, 'so what's next in line?', he goes, 'I dunno man, that's about it... I think I'm done...'

I was like... well that must have been fun...

well if you like V8 noise (who doesn't) and have a keen interest in burnouts, smoke shows, dohnuts, stoppies and any other gay name for turning tyres then the commodore is the winner. it will have modest power, but that will be plenty to overwhelm the crappy suspension geometry and the nankangs. so you can smoke some crap rubber whenever you please. but the interior is low rent, the body looks very ordinary steering feels like it's being done by remote control and the gearbox is crap. apart from that it's a lovely automobile.

if you want something cool and V8 get a nice charger, or a VL group A walkinshaw plastic pig some thing that actually looks and sounds kick ass.

yidz .. u get the point

I know what you are trying to say but its personal opinion. Its very rare for me to say I like a 33 as I don't really like many apart from GTR / tidy GTR look a likes. You would buy this car for a completely different reason you would have an R33. You can't even begin to compare them.

Hell yeah. The problem is they are just a tad more expensive than $20k. Plus you wouldn't wanna drive it everyday :w00t:

The HSV, whilst being fairly rare, could be used as a daily driver and not have to worry about it too much.

If you want a commodore and skyline power just got get a nice vl calais with an rb25 conversion (or rb26 conversion if you can find one)

It will still handle like a pillow though, but at least in a straight line it will go ok

Ok after being verbally bashed for starting this thread and a good nights sleep on the matter i have decided to keep the 33 as i also don't want to have to change forums. And as sam pointed out last night on our trip through mccarrs creek 'you think this handles like a boat . . . . '

Thanks for the help guys

2-way coming up!

finally he has come back to his sense....

altho if the day comes i will agree to get a vs like the one u were looking at to use as tow cars for out GTR track cars :D

i knew u werent serious greg... i mean common u love the 33. i can tell... plus if u had the vs, u wont be able to go around round-abouts with ur front wheels in the inner lane and the rears in the outer lane for 2 complete cycles :w00t:

    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
