Well, after adamantly defending the police for years, I have finally been screwed by them

Senior Constable Cross issued a yellow for a Toyota genuine factory fitted windscreen on a celsior as he said he believed it had tint fitted based on the fact that 'it looked dark' (there is absolutely no tint fitted, and the other officer said he could see no evidence of film)

Even my brother in law, who is a cop, is bloody livid about it

bloody unbeleivable

Must be a new PR push

Ummm cant you see if film is on the window by looking at the edges of the glass on the inside of the car?

That's not on hey.. getting a sticker is a big chuck of time out of your day and is costing you money aswell to get over.

Find where he lives and go nick the $50odd bucks out of his wallet that it will cost you for the pits fee lol (joking!)

Have already spoken to the police ombudsman, they requested we submit a formal complaint

Will definately be taking this further

Its just great to know that you can get defected for an OEM item - basically means I cannot drive the car anywhere

Maybe I should just cut my losses, sell the toyota and buy a nissan - I wonder what toyota would think about their cars being defected for factory fitted windscreens :)

edit: Ryan, its funny you mention being able to see the film, one of the other cops on the scene actually pointed out to the guy who gave the defect that there was no evidence of any film fitted to the windscreen!

That really is ridiculous. Don't suppose you gave him a reason to be a loser about it?

I understand how much of an inconvenience it is though to have to take your car to the pits, have to do it myself at the moment.. got up at 4:30 just to get there early and then they didnt start inspections until 9 anyway.. wasting our time.

What do you actually think that will achieve? The defect won't be removed, the cop won't be sacked, they won't pay your bills and its highly unlikely the cop will even be spoken to by anyone in an authoritive position.

what will it achieve? personal satisfaction knowing I didnt just roll over and let him screw me... My brother in law is a cop - when an investigation is conducted, and the officer is found to be 'remiss' in their actions, remedial action is taken

Enough people complain, and something may happen - no one complains, NOTHING will ever happen

Plus, I would like an appology from the responsible party - that may never happen, but I will be asking for it - really, a bit of common sense instead of bloody mindedness on his part and we could have all had a good day that day

If the police will hold me responsible and answerable for my actions - they can do the same

Pretty sure you could follow up to the actual police station/district this particular cop works from. If you can, try to get to talk to him & explain it that he's wrong, he's wasting your time & money & will only affect him if it goes that far that you need to put in a formal complaint. It was a while ago but I remember reading a thread somewhere someone did just this & the cop agreed to cancel it, because he knew it would have caused him more trouble, than satisfaction for wasting half a day & $50 (back then, as said it's $83 for first inspection now, $58 after) for someone. Good luck though, but if you do need to get inspected go to an approved workshop instead of somewhere like Welshpool. Wasted my day off there last Monday just so I can get to work on time for the next 3 weeks (now 2.....)

and the next time he pulls u over, you may as well just drop your pants and bendover....

good on you steve :) like you said if no one complains how are we going to change anything!

Definately submit a formal complaint! Thats really bad luck mate it makes my blood boil. Not all cops deserve their position of authority. These people work for us and if he is not doing his job properly then it needs to be brought to attention. Good luck and i hope you follow this up untill you see some result.

i reported 5 cops back in the day for giving me a yellow at a booze bus and making me wait for an 'on road inspection team' which actually didnt exist. Made a formal compaint, did up a letter, long story short they got f**ked on hard and they all got demoted and moved from northbridge/perth branch to cottesloe.

    • @Supernanoyour car has ended up in my hands and I was wondering if there has been any work done to the motor?
    • Sigh... yeah OEM mount rear battery, very R33, very demure, very mindful.
    • Would need a substantial current draw in the car to make a bunch of sparks. Obvs to now test resistance to ground of the car's B+ lead. If there's a short there, you'll see it. Only likely place for that, as you suspect is alternator. But there is also the possibility that rats have had a chew on some insulation. Shitbox has the battery in the boot, yeah? Plenty of cable to attack.
    • Oh, I thought of that too... I disconnected the battery and hooked up the leads direct to the car without the battery in place. Sparks... I suspect the following: Alternator has decided to kill itself Starter has decided to kill itself I'll recharge the battery, then unplug both, and go from there. The above might take 6 months - however I did buy a Victron 15 AMP trickle charger, apparently it's better than CTEK? Amazon, delivery by tonight. https://www.amazon.com.au/Victron-Battery-Charger-15-Amp-waterproof/dp/B07P4LMMMD?ref_=ast_sto_dp
