hey all, my skyline has gone from RB20DE to RB20DET to RB30DET and still has the factory rb20de radiator and will need replacing due to summer. Is the RB20DET item larger and will it perform better? will any other nissan radiator with better cooling capacity fit? Is the just jap aluminium unit any good and a true bolt on?

I really want to keep it stock looking so a standard unit would be preferred.

Thnaks

I suspected the 20det was thicker. thanks simon.

its either a flushed stock 20det or a new JJ one. I really dont want anything aftermarket looking in my engine bay so i willl hunt for a 20det one

hey mate, i just got one of the just jap ones. Casting is pretty cheap looking to tell you the truth. Also mine didnt come with a drain plug and we are having trouble matching the weird thread it has. I'm yet to run it and see how it goes.

In my opinon, if your car is sporting a 30DET, I wouldn't even allow risking it to overheat. I have a Just Jap item in my car and it works well. If you resort to a RB20DET one, at least get it flushed properly

My car had a 20DE radiator so I was told, I scored a GTR radiator for $70 so dropped that in - had a whole extra core.

Have just ordered one of those alloy group buy radiators from fatz, looks the goods, hopefully it performs well too :(

I'd just go a justjap radiator. cheap, new, alloy, probably some form of warranty and bling factor. An old crap filled r20det radiator sounds like more trouble than it's worth.

i got one (R32 GTR) if anyone wants it $200 (or $150 pickup)..... useless, stock GTR rad worked better.

the pwr gtr radiators work a treat. either 2"or 3"core with a heat exchanger in the end tank. Rock solid water and oil temps. For a street car the 2"core would be better suited. They cost abit, but work perfectly on and off the track.

    • Does it also misfire equally when revving?   Josh is very correct in what you should do. The coilpack harness wiring loom itself is a known problem due to its age and the number of heat cycles it has gone through. Throwing parts at a vehicle to diagnose the issue isn't a smart or good way to do it. Secondly, you may have a bad coil pack, you pop replacements in, they fix that issue, but messing with the harness breaks it, so the issue persists. So now you think "well it wasn't the coil packs" and have to continue chasing your tail, potentially swapping back in your shit coil packs and returning the good ones (yes, I've seen people do this because 'it wasn't the problem' and they want to save money). And suddenly, you've got two issues with the same symptoms...   Diagnose, don't use the spare parts shotgun.
