But i dont know enough about the turbos to make a choice... Or be able to compare one turbo to another...

You already made a thread about this mate with the same question...?

http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/27...ws-t181715.html

True… but only sorta as I was just told things like buy a GT3076… for me not knowing much what the hell is that! What will it do etc etc etc

i just need some black and white answers so i can compare them to what people have actually used.. just sick of worrying bout this decision just want it done and dusted.. plus any workshops i ask just try and flog the stuff they have lying round. sick of it... this way im hoping to compare apples with apples and finally get a decision.

Turbo - get an HKS GT-RS. Around $2.5k new, $1.5k second hand + fitting costs (new will include kit with all components to fit). If you are paying someone to fit, you're looking at around $300 - $500. Should do 270-280rwkw on 18PSI. Boost from 3k or slightly before.

I have an HKS 2535 which is just a little smaller then the GT-RS, and it boosts from around 2.7k, making 250rwkw on 18 PSI.

Supporting mods

- Suspension needs to be up to the task of putting this power down. If you are still running factory 10 year old suspension, you'd be looking at $1.5k - $2k to go for a Sydneykid setup including fitting.

- You may also require a new clutch - $800+ including fitting. (depends on type, $800 would be for basic button type clutch, twin plate etc will obviously cost much more)

I am managing without a Z32 AFM, but you'll need one if you're pushing past 250rwkw. That's another $300 or so.

Re-tune on power FC ~ $200

Then factory in another 25% for other unexpected breakages or expenses. Then consider the risk that you will blow your engine and require a rebuild.

Did you even read the thread linked then?

It contains all the details, dyno sheets and so on.

If your struggling to understand that and dont think its black and white... then maybe you need to do some more reading :P

There is so much info on this forum if you take the time to look for it.

yer ok mate.. sorry bout the rant.. just struggle to grasp some stuff on here and there is SOOOO many choices!

Would be nice for some one to go here this is the one u need!

Well there you go -

GT-RS - $3000

Injectors - $800

Z32 - $300

Clutch - $800

Suspension - $1500 (optional but highly recommended - what is the point of having all that power if you can't put it down)

Retune - $200

Gtrs will keep you in the "safe" range for a stock bottom end and spool up very quickly. With cams you'll probably get to 265 or so...

it is definately the most sau recommended for an un opened rb25

+1 for GT-RS, however if you wanna go more towards the 290mark, then maybe a HKS 2835. You may need an engine rebuild some time after pushing this type of power. I'm limiting myself to 270@wheels for the stock bottem end for the time being.

If you have a friendly tune and your engine is generally healthy, your unopened motor should be fine pushing out well into the 260+rwkw's. HKS GT2835proS kit! The GT-RS in my opinion will struggle to put out your aimed power without cams and testing the boost on a stock motor. The 2835 will get you up there at around 1.1bar, and as mentioned if your motor is healthy and your tune is good then it should be fine, especially if its just a street car.

price wise, its been too long since i bought mine so make a few calls..

i think if im looking at the right one the price for the HKS GT2835proS kit from neugen was around $2200 that sound about right?

That price is for the turbo only, you would need to get oil, water lines, gaskets, etc all locally.

If you want the full kit, you're looking at $2900.

Don't have on myself, but my understanding is that the hi-flow is about the same as the 2535, which means 240-250rwkw, or 250-260rwkw with cams. Response would be still good, a little laggier then standard which is mainly due to the steel wheels being heavier then the standard ceramic/nylon combination.

ahhh bum dont wanna shell out for cams.... grrrr

Forgive my ignorance, but why would you hiflow when you can get a new KKR/Biagio/hypergear etc for sub $1000.

I know, I know, a hiflow is nearly a new turbo, but its not ALL new, and it is still an older pre '00 design [only in little ways I admit] but you can buy the new turbo, sell the old std unit, and come away with a brand new one for say $5-600.

The age of the hiflow is dead!!! It happened, it was good while it lasted, but there are better options out there now, its time to move on.....

BTW I've got a 3076 WG [brought it off Slide], so I'm not saying go and do this or buy that, just posing the question.

you need to decide exactly what you want. do you really want 270-290 rwkw or is this just a fat sounding number?

if you want virtually stock response and something that is quick to drive around on the street (and cheap) the GCG hi-flow or GT-RS is the no brainer as they are bolt-on. cams will give you another 15-25kw but may shift the boost threshold down lower so the turbo should come on a little earlier which is a whole lot more than it sounds in practice. 250-270rwkw is about where it will top out.

HKS 2835ProS more money more up top less down low (by a small fraction) SLY33 is correct (again imo) the GT-RS will struggle up top.

GT3071 60mm turbine 56 trim comp similar story but a bit of stuffing around getting all the bits together, if this is not your strong suit then the HKS kit is worth paying a premium for. these should make the midrange of your target.

HKS 3037 or GT30 (GT3076 in so many guises just ask 'the mafia') same story as above but shift your expectations higher more ponies less down low. HKS more cost but bolt on kit. these will exceed your target.

the more you want the more it costs (often exponential).

i bet you will be happy with a GT-RS and good tuning.

    • What 1.5 way? There's no such thing really as a 1.5 way, just different ways of explaining 2 ways with different ramp rates. HOWEVER. In any driving in a straight line your 1.5 or 2 or 1.7 way should have no clunking at all. With the clutch fully depressed the diff should be silent (unless it's welded but I'm assuming it's not). Something aint right here.
    • Clutch is a spec brand, new clutch system,( PP, flywheel, friction disc, etc. pull type) installed 100 miles ago, with no problems.
    • looking for some help and maybe some insight on others experience with a new LSD. R34 GT ran and drove beautifully, but always alot of grip loss due to the open R200 rear end, so I just installed a new 1.5 LSD way into the stock open R200 for a ER34. Simple. Everything seemed right. I test drove for the first time this weekend. as I started to back out the garage the first time slowly with tires straight it sounded and felt like I had a loose or half disconnected drive shaft...that was clucking around loose and shaking entire vehicle, and making it feel like the trans clutch was spontaneously slipping then grabbing very roughly while just letting out pedal slowly. I backed it out went to pull forward with the same noise, shake and slip grab feeling with hesitation, I turned the tires to back out more and then pulled ahead some same thing but worst because of added wheel resistance (which that I expected) puzzled … pulling it back in checking everything over and finding nothing wrong, I tried it the next day. same thing, couldn’t believe how it shook everything again making a terrible noise and making it feel like the trans clutch was slipping and grabbing, but I got it out of garage into the driveway, got it straight, drove forward and then reveres a few times in a straight line everything shaking , causing what felt like clutch slip and grab every time, sounded like right behind front driver tire and I could feel it in the floor board with my feet,... worst right when beginning to let clutch pedal out to engage slightly, shuttering and sounding terrible along the way…I managed to slowly get down the road, babying it the whole way, once I was rolling (out of 1st) seemed to be better and between shifts, then clutch felt closer to normal…not slip/ grab etc., but back down to any stop, straight road or turning, same thing. Made no difference if all tires were straight or if I was turning. All other gauge read out correct. with in 2 miles as planned I reached the empty parking lot and performed the break in procedure that came with lsd, essentially to drive in a figure 8 a bunch.  Did this, binding chattering, and shaking the car the whole way. I drove it back home seemed somewhat normal once I was in straight line and past 10 mph or so, and I know it will “bind” on corners and cause some tires squeal when turning especially from a stop, but when I begin to move it still causes what feels like the trans clutch to slip and jerk badly as well as shaking the entire car, and sounds terrible, that I didn’t expect. I used the fluid they supplied with LSD kit and did the breaking, planning to change fluid as they suggest after breaking, but wondering will it get smoother or less aggressive with use? maybe a 1.5 is just too aggressive for normal road driving?   I have a LSD that I put in my 71 cuda when I restored it, with amazing smooth , quite yet effective results. Different style LSD but that ones a joy to drive. maybe expecting too much from this R200?
