downloaded the online update today,

so far i don't like it due to the amount of cheating that goes on, people smashing into you, bumping you off your line etc etc... I just did one race when at the start everyone was just smashing into each other, i try to stay out of the way but one dude smash me off into the sand i got back onto the track and fought back and won the race lol  but another race i was in 1st place with the 07 GTR and then another gtr smash me off the track in the hairpin of fuji :@

i think they need to revises the black-flag system as it does work but not good enough to stop people from continuously tring to cheat...

but all and all if you get a race were everyone races fair its bulk fun! and it good to see how you go against other people

how do you go about downloading the update? when i opened the game it started downloading something, took for ages (well over an hour) to get about half way through and then an error message came up but obviously couldnt read it, was that the update? i had a look on the japan store but couldnt find anything there

i had the same problem, i just keep tring and then finally it download it completely. you can only download in the game

what are all the little options you get before you race. i know what the AT and MT are, and i am assuming the bottom 2 are tyre choice (i could be wrong) but whats the stuff in between?

the 1st opinion after transmission, is simulation or pro. mode

then

-active brake

-stability control

-Traction control

:P

Has anyone else finished this game? I did it a few weeks ago and the prize car is the 2005 GT-R Poto... without the 'in-car' dashboard view. Pretty underwhelming if you ask me  Anyway it's a good game and certainly makes the wait for the full game a bit harder.

also finish it, but need more cash to buy the ferrari 599 as that is the only race i have left. so just been doing online racers

Hey Michael, the 599 race is easy... I found most races are easy if you set the car to 'standard' (I think its called standard) simulation and not 'professional'. The 599/Z06 etc are just too twitchy on full throttle out of 2nd gear corners using the gamepad. Not sure if it's any better with a steering wheel. I reckon the '1-2 finish' F430 race at Suzuka is the best when setting the car to professional simulation... very challenging.

I got a white 40G PS3 from Tsutaya in Kobe for 38,500 yen btw, thats a good $200 cheaper than typical Aussie prices which is a real shame.

Got mine the other day, been online in nothing other than a Bayside Blue R34 GTR V-Spec II Nur :D

My username is R34Maniac.. so it wouldn't be hard to find me :P

The 599 is impossible to drive on the online race on Daytona with those terrible tyres. I saloute :P anybody who can drive it on there without aids.

God the Suzuka 10 lap race is hard.......it's easy to do ONE perfect but to 10 of them to get to number one is SO DAMN HARD.....I'm using the R35 GTR and the gold trophy is just out of reach ARRRGGGHHH

and btw....the Z06 is so shit its not funny, it has NO BRAKING POWER!!!!!!

Can anyone clear up something i am interested in asking?

I may be wrong but some here have bought their PS3's from Japan and are playing them via a HD TV that supports both NTSC AND PAL?

I have a 32 inch Bravia LCD and i know without a converter i cant play PAL games.

Are there any other problems besides colour system compatibility?

Or is it that i'm missing something.

Really, i just want a piece of the online GT5 action..im champing at the bit to claim the flag...

    • You know how your car rolled through a fence in your last jacking escapade? Scissor jacks increase the likely hood of that sort of thing happening immensely!

    • Just trying to get my head around this. At 5psi of boost, you turn on your wmi pump, and then you're using a 3000cc injector, to allow flow upto the actual engine, where you have your 6x200cc injectors and a 500cc injector. If the above is correct, what advantage are you obtaining by having the 3000cc injector blocking flow, is this just incase a line breaks between that injector and the motor you can stop flow immediately? Or are the 6x200cc and 500cc less injectors and just spray nozzle?
    • Welcome! New member myself, but I had an R33 back in 2002. Best advice I could give, based on my experience: if you're running the factory turbo, be very conservative with boost. I made the mistake of just fiddling around with the boost controller and cranking the boost for fun, and the end result was my intake pipes popping off frequently from the constant deluge of oil that was being blown into the recirc by the stressed-out turbo, which itself was siphoning oil from the engine and farting it out both sides of its centre bearing (or something to that effect). If I could do it all again, I would have gotten a new turbo and had a tune dialled in professionally and then just left it alone! Funny you mention the metal shavings in the gearbox, as I had the same thing - the probe plug (magnetic drain plug, essentially) would come out caked with shavings. At least it was doing its job. Not sure if that's just sacrificial wear and part of the deal, or if my gearbox was shagged, but I wasn't abusing it. Enjoy the R33 - they're a dying breed, and if they weren't $35k+ on CarSales in Queensland, I might have picked up one of those again, instead of the 370GT I own now (though I'm loving the 370GT, that big 3.7L V6 just hits different).
    • Howdy folks. I owned an R33 back in 2002, which was thoroughly beyond my capacity (financially speaking) to maintain/insure, so we parted ways in 2004. Fast forward 21 years (to literally yesterday, in fact) and I'm now the proud owner of a 2007 V36 370GT. I'm happily surprised by how much power the VQ37VHR makes, compared to the RB25DET, considering the latter is turbocharged. I had planned to add a turbo at some point but I'm on the fence about whether I'll even need it (though I do love the sudden onset of extra torque). Any other 370GT owners around the traps, I'd love to hear about your experiences with this car (good and bad).
