$65 is way too expensive Troy.

Think about it, you drive from out east, its going to cost you $100 in fuel for a night @ the drags and to/from driving

Not to mention the fact you gotta be on your way well before 4pm if you want to miss all the traffic congestion on the Calder FWY itself.

Even being from the West when i was racing regularly, it would take me a good 40mins to travel what normally took me 10mins.

So god knows how the eastern people feel about the situation.

Even @ $50, and even then you'd argue that its too expensive when you see as many cars racing as you would and the fact people get maybe 3-4 runs in a night which isn't really good return in expense when you consider Calder is basically falling apart when you look at it.

Track is average at best, the facilities are plain shit house. Are the timing & timing displays fixed yet? They were in disrepair for the best part of 18months and werent fixed the last time i was there

If they are going to CHARGE more, then PRODUCE more for the punters who attend. Simply jacking the price without showing good cause is a load of shit.

Raced there about 2months ago for $50, and got about 4 runs the night....

When i used to go to Calder to watch with a couple mates (coz we had nothing better to do) it was not *too* bad. But @ $25 a pop i'd rather get a bottle and have some drinks with mates

Give it time, and we wont have any motorsport venues within 2hrs of the CBD. The way things are going at Calder and the proposals for Sandown, our only options will be Winton, Heathcote and Phillip Island. Morwell is as good as dead also.

Yeah i am from Morwell area. I think they are building a new track in the area as i type. Somewhere near Yallourn mine. I hope to start racing up there when its finished. Hopefully they have some drifting up there.

If i wanted to go to calder it would take me a good 3hrs i recon on a friday night. Just far too expensive. Hmm maybe i should just build my own personal drag strip lol >_<.

That's right!

The people that gave a shit about the place and tried to push to make it better got sacked or was pushed to resign. All because Bob has lost the plot and is listening to the one lying bitch that is going to fark up the place big time.

My mate (Malcolm, for those who know him) was in charge of "track hire", he had managed to book Calder out every weekend in 2008 and most weekdays, with a few major events that would not have happened without his and Russel's (previous manager) hard work. One bitch wanted the top job and took down anyone that wasn't on her side. Well she now has the top job, but all i hear from current staff and Calder clients, is that the place is a mess with a massive lack of planning/organization/etc.

Hell even the manager at Adelaide International Raceway (AIR) resigned, due to Bob listening to this bitch.

Whoever this Bitch is, sounds like she has the SKILL Al >_< . Bob must be a happy man atm.

whats goin on with friday night drags at calder park.

its sucking big time lately

$25 to watch and $65 to compete. what a joke

just thought id share

that sucks, I was plannnig on running my car but didn't realise it was such a rip...

and $25 just to spectate, thatr is a disgrace - no wonder it wan't busy

f**k it lets go Heathcote FTW

I wouldnt run my car at calder if i got a free pass POS

im with ya on heathcote bro. wait til middle of march though lol.

well make a day of it with a few others :D

see my p.o.s run 14's :)

Rumors are that prices at Heathcote will be increasing soon :domokun:

Not sure if they're hiring Troy; But with your CAMS scrutineering cert you'll have no probs getting in; as most have no qualifications at all.

Well at the last Calder meet, they only had 44 competitors, for the whole night (that includes the comp cars); usually on a nice Friday night they have about 180 competitors. So if you compete now you'll have all the runs you desire.

we should make an event. .

  • 3 weeks later...

I'd be willing to pay $65 to run there on friday nights if there was less than 20 cars there...previously whenever i went to calder i got between 3-6 runs on the night itself...whereas went i went recently in December...i got a total of 20 runs on the night...and that was with half an hour breaks in between every 5 runs or so...the way i look at it...$50 for 3-6 runs or $65 for 15-20 runs...it kinda speaks for itself...

man... last time i was at calder (and this was a loooong time ago...) i was running my R32 against my wifes Soarer... and yes yes for all those who remember her car was well faster... still cop shit about that even though i was the one who ran the faster time in the soarer... but she did still beat me 1 of the 2 head to head races... anyway!

even then the track was shit... the signs were stuffed and it was $50... obviously it hasnt got any better... best way to teach them is by not going and encouraging others to do the same.

like Ash said... if your coming from the east its just a headache and a costly night out... for the quality of what you get its not worth the outlay... compare it to WSID

I paid 90 for me and the misses to get in and race about 2 months ago and blew my head gasket only got 3 runs and the traffic sucked getting from my work in oakleigh to calder took like 1 and half through city link my 2 cents

    • Ok I get you. But isn’t the butterfly intake a headache with the +T?  see this is my plan so far but please advise me into the right direction.  Nistune Ecu, 1000cc Bosch injectors, TD05 or TD06 Kinugawa turbo using stock rb25det exhuast manifold, walbro fuel pump unsure of model I think it’s 450/460, spitfire coils and sparks to suit and a R35 MAF sensor and boost sensor.    I was thinking maybe do a cheap eBay plenum $400-500 or try find a stock det neo intake. I think I’d port match it so it’s getting the full capacity but open to advice please.  Thanks
    • The issue now is the 'fuel cut' while driving, and when it happend, it does not stall. This, I did not test the fuel pressure while driving as I cannot with a fuel pressure gauge. I do have Nistune logs, yes. I have also replaced the MAF Sensor.   Also related to the FPG Fuel Hanger – I just realized that I need a Deutsch Crimp Tool to crimp some cables for the FPG Fuel Hanger. Need to purchase additional cables as the kit only included 2, which are for the float. FPG has not responded to my emails so far since purchasing. I thought about taking it to someone and having it done professionally, but I am reluctant since everyone I took it to messed up in some way.
    • There's a good German place in Brisbane if youre up for the drive 😛
    • The German place in Cabramatta was rock solid, fresh pretzel cooked to order back then. Then it went all quiet, after all the poker machines were removed, then I believe it closed for good. I did drive past the other week and noticed outdoor lighting a big screen, but no idea what is there now.
    • Yeah I suspect even if you hold airmass per cycle/cylinder constant if you get too far away from stock you're still going to have problems running the factory tune within the bounds of the factory load scale. Cams, different displacement/rod ratio, etc. I'm just lucky that the GTIII-SS with wastegate boost + CA compliance cats is pretty much equivalent to stock turbos. When I have actual space I can finally get it tuned and modify the fuel system for flex fuel to 100% handle any detonation concerns when cranking the boost to whatever those dinky turbos can put out.
