Ivan you got a point there. Yeah, i knew thats what the BMW press release said, but i dont 100% buy that.

You are right when you say this could screw up championship contention for some people if it happens to the wrong person at the wrong time...

That rule needs to be changed for sure.

It's my understanding that the rule is in place to stop cars flying around the track under safety car conditions (before being picked up by the SC obviously) in order to make it back to the pits quickly, and in doing so, racing through the area thats caused the SC... So I don't think they'll change it anytime soon.

So I don't think they'll change it anytime soon.

Be good if they had a secondary limiter that maxes the cars to something like 160k/ph to 200k/ph that must be engadged in the section/sector of the incident that triggers the SC...

Then they don't have to shut the pits...

Hear Brawns comments about when Honda have a worthy car they need to get one of the drivers who are a step above the others, like Alonso! LOl, fair enough he discounts Rubens from that sort of thinking, but means he doesnt rate Button as that great if he is talking about drivers a cut above :D

I think Vettel is odds on for RBR promotion next year, but i do believe its his place to lose. Bourdais is far more experienced and has been able to race through the midfield in a few races, showed great presence and pace in Aus and showed well in qualifying.

He has done everything right so far, and if continues to capitalise on opportunties that present himself i can easily see him leap frogging Vettel, who is still very young and possibly worth money contracted to other teams.

Real question is whether Vettel continues to show he may be something special, as we recognise Bourdais is good, but unlikely to be special. Vettel can continue to get out qualified by Bourdais he may be in trouble, as one thing about Indy car is it will have hardened Bourdais in preparation for tight racing

yeah EC would be crap. the whole cool thing about the aus GP is that it happens right near the centre of the city. eastern creek is in the boon docks. over an hour out of sydney. now if they could find a suitable course in/near the city then I'm all for moving it north of the border. :)

For the first time since 1996, Formula One looks set to miss out on the videogame market about Sony and Bernie Ecclestone failed to agree a new deal.

Sony has held the exclusive rights to produce F1 games since 2003 with the most recent edition of the game, which was based on the 2006 F1 season, coming out on the PS3 last year.

The five-year license reportedly cost Sony $15m per year.

However, it expired at the end of 2007 meaning a new contract was needed but that has, according to GamesRadar, failed to materialise.

The website reports that Ecclestone is "playing hardball" over the fee, wanting more than what Sony are prepared to pay.

And with no resolution on the cards as well no work having begun on a new edition of the game, it looks as is F1's gaming fans will be without a videogame this season.

Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone wants to change the rules to make sure the driver who wins the most races takes the title.

"I got a bit waylaid last season, what with all the business with McLaren and Ferrari, but it is my intention to push this idea through in the coming weeks," Ecclestone told Britain's Mail on Sunday.

The newspaper said Ecclestone wanted to have the title decided on race wins to force drivers to take more risks, rather than a system that awards 10 points for a win and eight for second place.

"The key word in motor racing is 'racing'," added the Briton, who has stayed in London while the season starts in Australia.

"And right now there are not enough overtaking manoeuvres in the sport because drivers are happy not to take risks and claim second place because it is only two points less than winning the race.

"What I want to see is the winner of the most number of races as world champion, and second places only to be used if the top two finish the season with the same number of wins," said the 77-year-old.

"The constructors would keep the existing system."

Despite Ecclestone's comments, the Formula One title has gone to the driver with the most race wins in the championship in every year since 1989.

That year, Frenchman Alain Prost won with four victories to six for McLaren teammate Ayrton Senna.

      I know people cry at the price of the Getrag 12-14k for a conversion now, but it really is a nice mid point. Not going to get change from 10k on a gearset installed.  $30k++ for sequential.   I know you run the risk of a damaged used one and parts are hard to get but as a street car gearbox its really hard to beat. If you enjoy a more traditional manual, its the choice no question.
