In absence of chalk you can use paper towels from the change rooms...or if your gym has them dotted around the weights areas like mine, that's handy. You can also punch a hole in the wall and use plaster of Paris :)

have tried the hook grip trigger but I'm led to believe prolonged use of that technique can cause permanent loss of feeling in your thumbs...

Hate to break it to you if you are concerned about health and body parts being injured weightlifting is the wrong game ;)

Eating what you have to do to get strong and big and lifting ridiculous weight is far from good on any of your body.

Plus you only need that grip on your final lifts. Its not like you are doing it all day every day

  • 2 weeks later...

Sick of being fat now, need to cut. Thoughts on how long to go from 25-30% bodyfat down to 15-20ish? Maybe 500 calorie deficit

If you want to stay as strong as possible and maintain as much muscle mass. Count macronutrients, with around a 500calorie deficit, for 3months. .9g protein per lb, .7-.8g fat, rest as carbs.

Maintain whatever weight you get down to for a month, then re-adjust and go again.

If you don't care as much about holding strength and muscle mass, do what birds said as its 'easier' for most.

You are what you eat, if you always eat rubbish, you will be rubbish, simple, but no counting macaroni's, no fad diets, on that point you can and should eat some crap on the odd occasion, life wasn't meant to be boring.

I know its a clique but the paleo (?spelling?) type of lifestyle is simple and effective, and it doesn't cost a lot either.

I'm also confused why people are fascinated by trying to get their BF levels into the unhealthy range for long term, I know there are different body types and stuff but isn't the healthy range around 18-20%BF for active males?

Everyone I know who has tried to keep BF levels below these levels haven't held it long term, or are that worried about what they eat their lifestyles suffer, or their health/stamina/recovery.

If you are stripping for a comp or fight or something to get yourself to or below a certain number, then I can see the point then.

Haha only thing I actually asked was approximately how long would it take to drop the body fat? Because I've never done a 'cut' before. Appreciate the input though.

Just want to get down to about 15-20% as I believe this is a healthy sustainable range

Its hard to say without lots of background info.

What's your body weight and height?

What's your diet like throughout the day?

What training and conditioning do you do?

What body type are you?

How focused are you?

Do you have any injuries or medical issues?

If it was me I would just focus on my training and getting my diet sorted and see where that takes me in say, 2 months, if that is going well then sustain or adjust to suit.

After my hernia I cut out the low rep stuff and switched to 10 x 10 training, no change to anything else but I lost a lot of body fat in that 3 months.

so i'm starting crossfit soon. just a bit bored with the general bodybuilding and powerlifting things i've been doing these past few years, and i'll be focusing on olympic lifting too at this place

opinions? advice?

Be careful... Most of your mates will pay you out.. ;)

Be careful... Most of your mates will pay you out.. ;)

Haha really?

I have been doing cross-fit for about a year now. Unfortunately have been down and out for the last 4 weeks due to a severe groin injury, but I loved it.

The best thing about it I found was the wide variety of exercises and the competitiveness of your training group.

I have a couple of mates into weights and I feel pretty confident that I would come out on top for the 'True Grit' comp soon (injury willing).

One problem I did find though, was the Price. Quite high compared to your bog standard Gym membership if you get involved in CROSSFIT gym or involve a P.T.

yeah the price, bloody hell

i'd like to think i'm committed to my fitness so i'm paying $65 a week for unlimited classes

good thing about this place is that they do not only do crossfit but olympic lifting, muay thai, wrestling/BJJ, yoga and conditioning also

see how i go for a couple of months..

I enjoyed the few cross fit sessions that i did. Had to stop on the doctors orders.

Is tough and suited me to the bone because I am stupid competitive but is the exact type of exercise that would apparently kill me sooo yeah.

    • It is a kunfine Android screen . Does anyone know the wirering diagram of the fuga ??
    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
