Hey Marc??

You have his Phone number.. i'll talk to paul.. but i'm not sure whats going to happen over xmas eh..

thats so shit this better not happen again!! f**k this has been the worst idea i have had ever.

I feel sorry for ya andrew..you had all good intentions and I was planning on buying this anywau when it popped up here on SAU i jumped all over it..hope it all pans out well and it was just 1 dud...but with suss fittings i reckon everyones a bit aprehensive...

rated to 2000..............................................................!

i cang et the number again, but james does fark all! he sits on his a55 doing bugger all and then lies about deliveries being sent... So, i dont particularly want to chase up that chap.

Rang jim Leslie the Director at ACPT. I am getting the money back and a free carbon 2000hp 'correct' shaft. He was rather pissed that some moron sent out the wrong tubing...

Oh well, free shaft for my customer.

Happy days!

Marc,

As we discussed on the telephone, this shaft was not built with the correct tubing. The diameter should have been 9.6 cm (3.8 inches).

We have built hundreds of shafts for Skylines and usually don’t have any problem. I hope your customer is happier with a refund and a new shaft on it’s way. I’ll monitor the build from this end. Please let me know how it works. James should get a shipping date to you, but it will be after the New Year’s Holiday due to the balance shop being closed.

I apologize for the problems you have had with our company.

I hope you are having a great Christmas!!

Jim

Jim Leslie is a genuine guy, he has pulled their heads in over what has happened on here. He said that he only found out about this whole debarcle a week ago and has found the employees responsible, very angry at the ACPT name being associated with malfunctioning product and incompetent production rates.

So, hopee all of you got the correct tubing size. Ours was out by 1 full centimetre....

Well after measuring the circumference and using this calculator http://www.csgnetwork.com/picalc2.html mines about 9.55cm ..

so where does that leave me now....is .45 difference okay or is she going to bust apart..

Think everyone should do a measure and see what we come up with..

just measure circumference and divide by 3.14159 (PI)

Unless my math is wrong, that is 0.05 diff, which is probably not important.

Although I don't understand why tubing dia, visually pretty much right (how much was it wrong by?), created a shaft

that looks as though it would not handle the torque of a civic, let alone 2000 hp.

And what about the wrong sizes in the other direction.. is that down to the same malfunctioning individuals?

Shaft + Money=Win!

Good outcome. Maybe this thread should compulsory reading for anyone wanting to start a GB, I don't think I would take one on. My shaft will be in Perth soon, fingers crossed, and I'll get it measured.

Glad its all working out fine, as Marc said Jim from Acpt is great to deal with i wish he was on the case from the start..

as for Paul, He's thrown in the towel.. so if someone wants to be the distributor for Acpt its up for grabs...... this even comes with free INSANE stamps for everyone involved

Never again for a group buy is what i say... i hope that everyone else's shafts are correct..

hey guys,

I'm going to measure mine.

I took the car to the drags the other night. It withstood 2x passes I ran 11.1 @ 125mph best and up top end it had some pretty serious vibrations... Iv'e never had a prob like this before. Not blaming the shaft yet, will measure it up also, check a few things out, might even trial fit the stock one again to make sure the shaft is the problem....

sigh.

Michael

Fark! it's pretty clear where and why it failed. you can see it's snapped right at the end of the steel insert for the mounting hardware. nasty.

hopefully the correct shaft will be ok, and money back shows at least the director is serious about attempting to mend his companies reputation with you guys. he should praise jeebus that nothing really bad happened when it failed, like the car getting launched, pieces penetrating the cockpit, major accident etc etc. very lucky.

Be interesting to see if you still have these vibrations.

Was it in any particular gear?

well, could have only been in 4th... That's when I really noticed it.

Havent driven the car since, so will be getting under it this weekend and investigating then going for a drive....

    • By popular demand.. it was a coil. Got my hands on 1 new OEM coil, replaced with the one that made the less noise difference when I unplugged it while the car was running and started the car up. No stutter and the engine light was gone. I guess I’ll buy the other 5 they have lol
    • No, code 21 is very straightforward. It can only be the things described in that diagnostic flow. In fact it has no way of knowing that the spark plug resistance is out of spec.
    • Hi, SteveL Thank you very much for your reply, you seem to be the only person on the net who has come up with a definitive answer for which I am grateful. The "Leak" was more by way of wet bubbles when the pedal was depressed hard by a buddy while trying to gey a decent pedal when bleeding the system having fitted the rebuilt BM50 back in the car, which now makes perfect sense. A bit of a shame having just rebuilt my BM50, I did not touch the proportioning valve side of things, the BM50 was leaking from the primary piston seal and fluid was running down the the Brake booster hence the need to rebuild, I had never noticed any fluid leaking from that hole previously it only started when I refitted it to the car. The brake lines in the photo are "Kunifer" which is a Copper/Nickel alloy brake pipe, but are only the ones I use to bench bleed Master cylinders, they are perfectly legal to use on vehicles here in the UK, however the lines on the car are PVF coated steel. Thanks again for clearing this up for me, a purchase of a new BMC appears to be on the cards, I have been looking at various options in case my BM50 was not repairable and have looked at the HFM BM57 which I understand is manufactured in Australia.
    • Well the install is officially done. Filled with fluid and bled it today, but didn't get a chance to take it on a test drive. I'll throw some final pics of the lines and whatnot but you can definitely install a DMAX rack in an R33 with pretty minor mods. I think the only other thing I had to do that isn't documented here is grind a bit of the larger banjo fitting to get it to clear since the banjos are grouped much tighter on the DMAX rack. Also the dust boots from a R33 do not fit either fyi, so if you end up doing this install for whatever reason you'll need to grab those too. One caveat with buying the S15 dust boots however is that the clamps are too small to fit on the R33 inner tie rod since they're much thicker so keep the old clamps around. The boots also twist a bit when adjusting toe but it's not a big deal. No issues or leaks so far, steering feels good and it looks like there's a bit more lock now than I had before. Getting an alignment on Saturday so I'll see how it feels then but seems like it'll be good to go
