[group Buy] Acpt Carbon Fibre Tailshafts Any Model! $1400us

Recommended Posts

35 pages..... and I'm lazy to read..

Can someone post a summary of events?

Do the ACPT tailshafts provide a worthwhile performance gain or not? Any alternatives been discussed? or is it better to stick with the factory ?

I believe results were posted one person that track races their car, the result was no improvement. Money would have been better spent on a lighter clutch/flywheel to improve response.

I wouldnt buy acpt again..

go with someone else, these guys have been nothing but headache.

if my shaft causes problems its going back to acpt.

now i wasnt after performance made from the shaft, just wanted more weight taken out of the car.

How long until you put your shaft in Andrew?

Be interesting to see if you have the same issue as a few of us have had. Maybe we can get a discount for the shipping back to America

I got mine running, never tested on the track but so far it has done close to 50 dyno runs while tunning the car, no issues so far that I am aware of, 10.500RPM on most pulls.

Not going to disclose too much on what is in it but I will tell you that there is a mixture between trust and hks with some personal r&d.

:P

Well mine finally passed its big test 7k rpm launch down the drag strip ran about half a dozen times this was the 1000ft/lbs model in a 34GTR this was in a 260awkw GTR not big power or anything but did handle it with no dramas no vibration all good .

Could not really do a comparison as i changed a few things since the last drag outing changed the stock suspension to HKS hipermax coilovers and fitted a titanium exhaust after removing a dodgey custom stainless job. I ran a 12.3 @115mph with the carbon shaft and i ran a 12.2 @ 116.5 mph two years ago without it !!! but i think my tyres had worn out their use by date as i haven't used them in over two years could not get any traction best 60ft was a 1.95

Is it really killing anyone by having it open? A few of us are still having issues.

Well yes - its in the GB section...

This is a section for active group buys...

Fair enough you have issues - but how long does this thread need to exist to document what everyone already knows?

Im trying to clean up for sale/GB sections etc, main reason for it all. (new forum version coming)

    • Wife wanted basket things in the wardrobe in our temporary house. Thought about ripping our the wardrobe and fitting the entire IKEA set, but it's a temporary house and we want to move in a few years. So IKEA advertises this as a 50cm unit, however the actually basket and rails measure 46cm wide. Only issue was depth, IKEA stuff is quite deep, where as the builder special junk is super shallow at less than 40cm. Send it, chopped the rails, then offset the mounting holes, job done, happy wife, less shit scattered all over the bedroom. Did the same to the other side too. Also drove the Skyline shit box today, dropped off oil at Supercheap Auto. I didn't realise they only now take max 2x bottles per visit. I visited 2x Supercheap Autos.
    • I've seen similar actually in my situation. You never know what tables are attempted to be used when the car thinks it's -99C or +200C. The fail state is not usually that extreme but you know what I mean - it was in my case though! This is where being able to read all the sensors is useful cause you see this stuff really quickly.
    • The above is very important. However as long as you keep timing relatively low, it's plausible to make your own knock ears and plausible to learn to tune with a modern ECU that can do wideband O2 correction like a boost controller. I mean if you only have one viable road to even drive the car on, learning to tinker to this level may be worth doing given you can't do much else with the car...?
    • I find the fact that the rear plate has to be bent inwards at the rear not so bad: but the front is just awful: It's like come on. (these are my very old, now retired/turned in plates) TBH it is a lot of money to fix a minor issue, the fact I said "I'll never really spend the money on doing this" is why people ended up buying them as a gift for a 'car guy' who can be hard to shop for.. for car guy things.
    • I just bent the ends of my premo plates. It even went through Regency like that after the engine conversion and the inspector (a great bloke!) just squinted his eyes and said "I didn't see that". Plates, and how they look, are just something that have zero importance to me.
