sr20 in r32 is better than rb20 in r32.. lighter, more torque, more power potential

300rwkw with stock internals too easy hahah

maybe if you believe the rubbish posted in NS.com.

I like my 32 with rb25. Im yet to come up against a 33 with similar development and power so can't comment on comparisons as far as acceleration, handling etc

As much as i pains me to say it, i'd suggest the r33 is a better base to start with, particularly looking at current prices. Get an s2, they at least look half reasonable....

lol @ roy hahah i never said anything about response.. i just said more torque which it does, and more power potential which it also does and it is much lighter

i never said anything about response :D

Have a sit in both the r32 and r33 and take for a drive....r33 is a newer car and is around the same money its hard to beat. I wouldnt buy a r33 though just cause i love my rb20 and my little r32.

oh and 4 bangers sound soo sh1t.

As mentioned...for the price you can pick up a R33 S2 for nowadays its hard to go past it...but saying that...the rb20 is still a very very decent engine...but as for the details...i'll just let troy fly the rb20 flag...

i dont see in any why u would pick a r32 over a r33 let alone a XR6T. unless it was purely to save fuel (which honestly would still not be worth the disappointment when u plant ur foot and go nowhere.

its faster

its stronger

more reliable

newer

better lookn (debatable, i love the gtrs but GTST bonnets shit me)

need i say more?

u also mentioned the r33s being more expensive to run. that might be true to some extent but i would feel sorry for u buddy if u bought a real bad shape 32 which needed all the brakes changed, half the engine rebuilt cuz its that old.

id defiently go with something newer and fresher. its not like the r33 is gonna cost u 20k more to run then 32....if u decided to make food rather then buy maccers once a week that would compensate for the difference in running costs for the 33......not even......

and lets not forget your jumping from a XR6T?!?!?!??!!? wats wrong with u? unless you absolutely love the r32 on how it works, do not downgrade so much.

ur going from 4.0L turbo t a 2.0L turbo. you will regret it man.....

XR6Ts can take down R34s easily...let alone a r32.... and yes with some slight suspension even on the track.

sure the 32 is light, but its not THAT light.....dont know why ppl are even mentioning how light it will be for a daily, like it will matter. and for when he does take it to the track, you not gonna be shaving seconds off.......its a daily......and a xr6 has more room, more comfy and will eat any non gtr skyline track or street.

basically wat im saying is....unless u have money issues, really really and i mean REALLY love the 32 or your mad.......dont get it......

XR6T>R34GTT>R33GTST>bike>walking>r32GTST

honestly.....the only downgrade from a XR6T id do is either for a GTR or a Supra.

Andru - if you read his posts properly and NOT jump to conclusions, you'll see WHY he is going from the xr6t to either the 32 or 33.

yep - the daily at the moment is the excel! so think of it as a BIG step up from that.

to be honest (and its purely personal taste) i do like the r32 shape. And the vast majority of driving it will see is in traffic. so the smaller capacity makes sense.

love the xr6 - its just wasted on the wife (hope she never sees this lol )

what kind of fuel usage can i expect from a 25 if i run very low boost daily - then bump it up on the weekends.

You dont have a clue. Next time you are at RE Customs have a close look at Matts R34 and the amoutn of mods it has and explain to me then why my internally std RB20 R32 is quicker around every track in Victoria! Goes for Rays S15 as well, my seemingly no good POS RB20 powered Skyline that is full weight, daily driver is quicker. So explain to me how an R32 with an RB20 is so bad. If it was such a performance handicap i would not be able to get near their times, right? So how is it i am several seconds quicker?

LOL, if you ever get your R34 out on the track keep an eye in your mirrors as i will be out to t-bone you. Proving that A) i was quick enough to catch you and B) that as a daily driver and fun car you dont have to worry about damaging an R32 as the cars and parts are relatively cheap. :D

Hahaha...that should put him in his place...again here i'm with Troy...we are not saying the rb20 is a better engine in a better car...we are just saying that done right it is far better than what people think...

Isn't the rb25 just a bored out rb20? Wouldn't that make the rb20 stronger?

i always thought that it was more like the rb26 was based on the rb20, where as the rb25 had more mechanical differences to both..

but i stand corrected!

having owned both rb20 and rb25, i still prefer the rb20 purely for it's character, and thrashability

while rb25 has plenty of torque and faster stock for stock, i'd prefer it as a daily drive/street car

thought i'd dig up this one..

and this

old post i know, but it will tell you that rb20 isnt exactly as "rubbish" as most people would think

A mate of mine had a kakimoto racing on his rb20 and it sounded unbelievable. Definately a better sounding engine than the rb25.

totally agree

sure a lot of other forum members who has actually driven/had an rb20det powered skyline will also agree on this one too

:P

its not a POS.... far from it

Andru - if you read his posts properly and NOT jump to conclusions, you'll see WHY he is going from the xr6t to either the 32 or 33.

i read his 1st initila post...didnt mention anything but buying a 32-33 and using it mainly for a daily with a lil bit of track.

has a xr6t....

didnt read anything else.

if youve got a excel atm aswell...then thats fair enough.

and you like the r32 shape so like i said above, thats more then enough i guess to go thee 32 root.

on a typically average modded skyline you lookn at around 350-400kms per tank. depends on ur right foot mostly though =]

Totally, because a GTR or Supra are clearly a downgrade from a Falcon, right?

lol sorry......bad choice of words........wat i ment to say was if i ever wanted to get rid of the falcon for something else.....i would go GTR or supra.

roy is it?

thats quite surprising u can go around a track alot faster then Matts car, especially it being internally standard....quite curious do u mind directing me to some more in depth specs of your car? it cant be pushing more then 250rwkw......or is it?

but come on roy.....be honest here.....you really think the rb20 is any better then its successors?

you might be able to beat rays s15 or matts r34....but if i gave u a r33 or a r34.....im sure ull be even better.

maybe ur driving style is just uber compared to matt/ray. (speculation only)

no offence at all roy but no matter wat u say ill pick a rb25 anyday. uve impressed me as far as how far you can push yours.

but its proberly the only 1 out of a million that might be worthy of praise......

have u ever considered droppn a rb25 into your car at all?

old post i know, but it will tell you that rb20 isnt exactly as "rubbish" as most people would think

okai okai......maybe its not as "rubbish" as wat others or myself make it out to be. but its defiently not as good as the 25

hrm i'm just trying to say they're different, not rb20 is better than 25 or vice versa

i've owned both r32 and r33 gtst, and like them both for what they are

rb20/25, i think they're both good in their own way, i wouldnt say which one's better than the other

despite that they're both coded rb, the characters are quite different IMO, generally at the mid to high rpm range is where the rb20 fun starts while rb25 is very torquey throughout the revs

i'd say their running cost is simillar stock for stock, rb20 isn't that fuel effcient compared to rb25 unless you have aftermarket ecu and have it tuned properly.

each to their own, you'll have fun in either one of them, test drive them all, stock rb20/25, tuned rb20/25 and pick your preference.

    • I would just put EBC back on the "I would not use their stuff" pile and move on.
    • Can I suggest you try EBC directly again and link them to as many competitor catalogues as you can to show their listing is incorrect, eg https://dba.com.au/product/front-4000-series-hd-brake-rotor-dba42304/ If you have access to an R33 GTST VIN and your VIN, you could also use a Nissan Parts lookup like Amayama to show them the part number is different between 33 GTST and 34 GTT which may get their attention
    • So i got reply from EBC and they just this site where you can clearly see those 296mm fronts on R34 GTT. I send them photos and "quotes" that 296mm are not for 34 GTT and they are too small. But it will be very hard to return them cuz nobody here knows 100% and they just copy those EBC catalogue :-D https://ebcbrakesdirect.com/automotive/nissan/skyline-r34
    • Hi, is the HKS  Tower Bar still available ? negotiable ? 🤔
    • From there, it is really just test and assemble. Plug the adapter cables from the unit into the back of the screen, then the other side to the car harness. Don't forget all the other plugs too! Run the cables behind the unit and screw it back into place (4 screws) and you should now have 3 cables to run from the top screen to the android unit. I ran them along the DS of the other AV units in the gap between their backets and the console, and used some corrugated tubing on the sharp edges of the bracket so the wires were safe. Plug the centre console and lower screen in temporarily and turn the car to ACC, the AV should fire up as normal. Hold the back button for 3 sec and Android should appear on the top screen. You need to set the input to Aux for audio (more on that later). I put the unit under the AC duct in the centre console, with the wifi antenna on top of the AC duct near the shifter, the bluetooth antenna on the AC duct under the centre console The GPS unit on top of the DS to AC duct; they all seem to work OK there are are out of the way. Neat cable routing is a pain. For the drive recorder I mounted it near the rear view mirror and run the cable in the headlining, across the a pillar and then down the inside of the a pillar seal to the DS lower dash. From there it goes across and to one USB input for the unit. The second USB input is attached to the ECUtec OBD dongle and the 3rd goes to the USB bulkhead connected I added in the centre console. This is how the centre console looks "tidied" up Note I didn't install the provided speaker, didn't use the 2.5mm IPod in line or the piggyback loom for the Ipod or change any DIP switches; they seem to only be required if you need to use the Ipod input rather than the AUX input. That's it, install done, I'll follow up with a separate post on how the unit works, but in summary it retains all factory functions and inputs (so I still use my phone to the car for calls), reverse still works like factory etc.
