haha didn't even see you there! Oh well.. I didn't think you had stuck with us on the freeway but then again I was asleep for most of it. :nyaanyaa:

Great day peeps. I wish I could have driven but... oh well.

All the volunteers were great especially DIF, Georgie, Ando, Steveo, Chubb, Goldy, Doof, Ian, Rosie & Luke, other Luke, Shell, Duncan (ute lending), Sh@un, and of course all those people I inevitably forget at these times.

I just want to add that all the entrants were the best behaved entrants to an event ever. 98% great behavior. They few that were spoken to took it on the chin and modified their behavior appropriately. When the day was over people helped us pack up, collect cones and rubbish etc and when everyone left they did so without fuss/burnouts. You probably don't realise just how much this means to me but it was great. Thanks.

Also I'll add now while I think of it, I loved the 31's on the pan (and FEAR too was great out there) but I fear that the visit we had from the EPA wont be the last. I expect that in future all cars will have to be properly muffled.

Yeah ditto...thanks heaps to every1 that organised many of who didnt even get a drive. :nyaanyaa:

If you want more track time at these events you guys gotta stop bein so friggen awesome, funny, cool, nice, sexy......cause im definitely takin 1 more spot from now on :( Was my first time near a track but definitely wont be the last!

Ciao you beautiful mofo's

im all wrapped up in SAUNSW goodness now

ah good man! :nyaanyaa:

now I guess we just need to wait for shell or duncan to sort out your super special access to the super special secret section!! aka SSSS

What a top event for the day Im glad I didnt miss out on this one, great to see new & familiar faces was a unforgetable weekend full of giggles & stories to tell. :D

I had a awsome time testing the cars limits in a safe controlled enviroment which was well set up & exicuted with no misshaps Im pleased to say.

From president through to all executives & organisers/helpers I would like to thank you from all competitors for making it all happen & sacrifising your time to run the event. :(

Well done. :nyaanyaa:

Ps to all who was at dinner & drinks look forward to catching up again for some more fun :( , please leave the big black rubber donger at home ( no names ). But the antics that peeps & the apperratis got up to was so funny :laughing-smiley-014: .

Dam some nice pics and ZILLA hot hot hope all is good with finding a new passanger mirror mate.

Yeah couldnt believe it. A massive bit of card board was thrown up from a car in front of me on the way home at 110 and smashed into my mirror :nyaanyaa: . Thanks to those who were able to stop.

Anyway had an awesome day. Learnt alot about my car and this was a very well run event.

Tim.

Gday guys and girls,

The name is Craig and I was the fella running around taking some photo's out there today.

First things first, thankyou very much for having me along. It was great to meet everyone out there and participate in such a fun event.

Well I have just gotten home myself and am absolutely stuffed, so I'm not going to go too nuts with the pics as yet but here are a few teasers off camera.

Be patient though, there are plenty more to come over the next week :P

    • Yup. You can get creative and make a sort of "bracket" with cable ties. Put 2 around the sender with a third passing underneath them strapped down against the sender. Then that third one is able to be passed through some hole at right angles to the orientation of the sender. Or some variation on the theme. Yes.... ummm, with caveats? I mean, the sender is BSP and you would likely have AN stuff on the hose, so yes, there would be the adapter you mention. But the block end will either be 1/8 NPT if that thread is still OK in there, or you can drill and tap it out to 1/4 BSP or NPT and use appropriate adapter there. As it stands, your mention of 1/8 BSPT male seems... wrong for the 1/8 NPT female it has to go into. The hose will be better, because even with the bush, the mass of the sender will be "hanging" off a hard threaded connection and will add some stress/strain to that. It might fail in the future. The hose eliminates almost all such risk - but adds in several more threaded connections to leak from! It really should be tapered, but it looks very long in that photo with no taper visible. If you have it in hand you should be able to see if it tapered or not. There technically is no possibility of a mechanical seal with a parallel male in a parallel female, so it is hard to believe that it is parallel male, but weirder things have happened. Maybe it's meant to seat on some surface when screwed in on the original installation? Anyway, at that thread size, parallel in parallel, with tape and goop, will seal just fine.
    • How do you propose I cable tie this: To something securely? Is it really just a case of finding a couple of holes and ziptying it there so it never goes flying or starts dangling around, more or less? Then run a 1/8 BSP Female to [hose adapter of choice?/AN?] and then the opposing fitting at the bush-into-oil-block end? being the hose-into-realistically likely a 1/8 BSPT male) Is this going to provide any real benefit over using a stainless/steel 1/4 to 1/8 BSPT reducing bush? I am making the assumption the OEM sender is BSPT not BSPP/BSP
    • I fashioned a ramp out of a couple of pieces of 140x35 lumber, to get the bumper up slightly, and then one of these is what I use
    • I wouldn't worry about dissimilar metal corrosion, should you just buy/make a steel replacement. There will be thread tape and sealant compound between the metals. The few little spots where they touch each other will be deep inside the joint, unable to get wet. And the alloy block is much much larger than a small steel fitting, so there is plenty of "sacrificial" capacity there. Any bush you put in there will be dissimilar anyway. Either steel or brass. Maybe stainless. All of them are different to the other parts in the chain. But what I said above still applies.
    • You are all good then, I didn't realise the port was in a part you can (have!) remove. Just pull the broken part out, clean it and the threads should be fine. Yes, the whole point about remote mounting is it takes almost all of the vibration out via the flexible hose. You just need a convenient chassis point and a cable tie or 3.
