well the 400r is probably out, as they are re-released tunere cars. I think Nismo is classed as Nissan, as your allowed to use the Nismo catalouge from the cars eara as option parts. But R32 - R33's N1's are safe, there was over 200 made of each of them.

Haha - yep.

But then TW was selling his car, Deano will just drive whatever (not sure how his EMO is after the crash in W.A anyways?), Greg doesn't play anymore and the Mazda's aren't effected. So really I know Scott/Chris will be pissed but I'm not too sure how many others it will bother. But overall its a good thing for the category I reckon.

M7. Modern Vehicle List - is relating to Modern Competition only, some Early Modern cars are still on the Modern list, but will removed in due course.

I have heard it said that Early Modern cars like 400R, Z Tune and ATTKD aren't really much of a departure from what was being done to those cars when they were at the front of the Modern Competition in years gone by...

Right - so that means the ATTKD and 400R are still good to go for EMod Stu?

I notice neither Lambo is currently listed on the THC entry list. As far as I know YT is still planning on doing the event (he's supposed to be bringing me something on his way to recce this week!) - is that just because they need to re-think their car structures or are they out now?

I'm liking the sound of this:

926 Paul Summers Michael Arnold 2010 Dodge Viper ACR

Fresh from Targa West Dodge Viper ACR

I had better speak to Newton...Looks like he's considering another nav

heheh

The 2 big ones for us are 3.5" exhausts and upper control arms are now ok.

It's hard to fully understand the special vehicles rules. Does it mean Whtey will have to undo his 200K upgrade and go back to a manual gearbox? The type R was just as fictional as the Super Alphabet.

I'm pretty sure the ATTK'D GTR is cactus - but not sure where the 400R/Z Tune stands under the regs.

Are the Skelta's road registerable in Oz to pass the local 10 car rule? But we can def see the rule to permit the RX8SP - which I'm ok with as Mazda do help support the events.

Oh - and I love the changes to the Showroom Class. I can see it really taking off now that 4WD cars are out and the limit raised to $100K .

Madza 3 v MX5 v 370Z v XR6T x HSV GTS v BMW 135i v Audi TT v Lotus Elise v VW GTI. I'm sure there is more decent options.

Sounds a lot more interesting than EVO v EVO v EVO v EVO......

thats good news because it will make showroom worth watching. and bring in some of the modern cars that have no hope at winning out right. good change i say.

Pretty sure Yt isn't running due to the double hernia operation he had 2 week's ago...given that he done TWP, Mt Buller and Targa

all against doctor's order's, he probley shouldn't..

Well just spoke to John and he said Jason is still coming on the boat tonight!

But I see that there is now a little sub note on the entrants list of people who haven't yet been accepted.

They include the Lambo's, Skelta's and PMS25 WRX's.

And also a couple of R33 GTR boys - anyone from here on that list?

BUT - they have accepted the NISMO 370Z so I guess that answers the 400R question.

Yeah i'm on that list at the moment and spoke to Helen @ Octagon just before. Apparently when dad submitted our application he did not specify the diameter of the exhaust so it was held in the selection.. So hopefully now it should all be cleared up :S

Oh and looks like i'll have to get a new muffler/rear section of the exhaust as it is 92mm :P , Anyone know if the diameter of the tip counts or just all downstream pipes up to the rear muffler?

I'm confused Snowy,,,why would you be happy with the SP being legal. Three cars made (well maybe 4 after TT) locally by Mazda Australia's motorsport arm to me sounds like favourtism. Shit a brick,,,they had more techs working on one car than they have produced!!!.

Cheers

Neil.

No experience with them personally, but it's run by a few people "in the scene", so would likely be worth it.

Yes, Steve Glenney is one of the instructors, spoke to Mick who is running the show and it sounds good. I think I'll be doing it. Here is link for outline of the day

    • You just need to remove the compressor housing, not the entire turbo. I would not be drilling and tapping anything with the housing still on anyways.
    • So, I put my boat on a boat. First of all, I'm going to come out and say it. Why is Tasmania not considered a holy goal, an apex that all road-legal modified cars go to, to experience? This place is an absolute wonderland of titanic proportions. If people are already getting club runs for once in a lifetime 30 person cruises to Tassy then I've never seemed to see it. It is like someone replaced the entire place with an idyllic wonderland for cars, and all of the people living there with paid actors who are kind, humble, and friendly. Dear god. After doing a lap of almost all of the place I've found that it's a great way to find out all of the little things that the car isn't doing quite right and a great way to figure it all out. All in all, I drove for 4 hours a day for a week and nothing broke. I didn't even need to open the engine bay. This is by all means a great success, but it has left me with a list of things to potentially address. I also now have a 3D printed wheel fitment tool which annoyingly hasn't got any threads in it to actually assemble it. I might be able to tape it together to check the sizing I actually want to use, but it'll likely involving pulling the shocks out to properly measure travel at least at the front, and probably raise the car while I'm at it, at least in the rear. I scraped on quite a few things and I'm not sure how else to go about it. I was taking anything with a bump at what felt like 89 degree angles. And address those 10 other tasks. And wash the car. God damn it is dirty. And somehow, the weather was perfect the entire time - And because I was on the top of Mt Wellington it turns out it was very much about to freeze up there. I did something I typically never do and took some photos up there in what must have been -10 and the foggy felt like suspended ice, rather than mere fog. If you own a car in Australia, you owe it to yourself to do it.
    • Damn that was hilarious, and a bit embarrassing for skylines in general 😂 vintage car life ey. That R33 really stomped. Pretty entertaining stuff
    • Hi, I have a r32 gtr transmission. Does any of you guys have an idea how much power it will hold with the billet center plate and stock gearset? At what power level and use did yours brake with or without billet plate? Thanks, Oystein Lovik
    • Saw this replica police car based on a Mitsubishi Starion XX parked next to a 'police box' (it's literally a box) in Hirohata, Himeji City in Hyogo prefecture the other day. It's owned by Morii-san who is a local Mitsubishi Starion enthusiast. According to a local radio station blog post, he always wanted to make a police car himself based on ones he saw in his favourite Manga comics.  As it's illegal to modify a car to look like a police car and drive on the road, Morii-san tried many times to get permission from Aboshi police station headquarters nearby. They refused initially by after they got tired of that they granted him permission. However, the car can only be displayed on private property and obviously can't be registered as long as the police livery is present. The car was completed at a cost of 1.5 million yen (US$ 10,000) in addition to the car cost. A location was chosen outside Hirohata Police box where the car can easily been seen from the street. Morii-san has two other Starion road cars, both widebody GSR-VRs.
