My Autronic SM4 is hooked up to an oil pressure sensor and drops the max rpm if it reads lower oil pressure than usual.

You can also rig up a pressure switch sensor with cuts ignition/injectors if pressure is below certain level.

that's how we have done it in the new car. 30psi oil pressure switch in the earth for the coils, with an override switch for starting.

mines the same...dual contact n/c relay running off the hobbs switch...one set of contacts for the coils the other for the injectors with a start override switch and big autometer warning light. With ignition on the relay and warning light are powered through the n/c contacts of the hobbs...after starting the contacts of the hobbs are opened and the circuit override switch is opened...when the pressure drops the contacts of the hobbs are closed powering the relay and opening the contacts feeding the coils and injectors.

Just thought i would post some pics of my R33GTR circuit car. I am still in the process of building it but am starting to see some light at the end of the tunnel. Have just got the car running and am running the new engine in at the moment 40klm's so far but still plenty of work to go. Build time so far has been around 18 months. Specs are as follows.

1995 R33GTR non vspec (dont let the sticker fool you)

Interrior: 6 piont roll cage, Cobra suzuka seat, 6 point Willans harness, Seabelt seuade wheel

Suspension: Tien super street coilovers with EDFC, Whiteline front and rear sway bars, Whiteline front camber kit, Tien adjustable castor rods. Hicass will be deleted. This suspension set up will get some attention as soon as the budget permits.

Brakes are currently Brembo F50 front calipers with 355mm rotors on flaoting hats with ferrodo ds3000 pads and standard brembo rears with project mu pads.

Engine: N1 engine block, HKS step 2 2.8lt stroker crank, HKS rods, HKS step 2 2.8lt piston kit (different pin height), full Tomei metal gasket kit inc head gasket, inlet manifold, throttle body, exhaust manifold, turbo & dump pipe,

Head has been mildly ported and fitted with HKS inlet and exhaust cams 264 10.2mm & 272 10.2mm respectivly, Tomei type B valve springs and retainers, Tomei cam stud kit, ARP head stud kit, HKS cam gears, Nismo timing belt.

Hi Octane modified sump with a custom dry sump set up running a peterson 5 satge pump 3 pickups from the sump and on off the back of the head, Peterson 3 gallon oil tank, ARP main stud kit, ACL race series bearings, N1 water pump, Tomei exhaust manifolds, HKS gt2530 turbos, Hks adjustable waste gates,HKS hard piping kit, Tomei 3" dump pipes, Custom front pipe twin 3" into 4", Full 4" exhaust.

Fuel system: standard fuel pump used as a lift pump custom serge tank, Twin Bosch 044 fuel pumps running thru two -6 delivery lines and 1 -6 return line to a HKS fuel rail, Sard 700cc injectors am currently undecided on wich brand of fuel reg i will use either a Magna fuel or Turbo smart

Cooling: ARC 120mm intercooler, ARC swirl pot & Breather tank (not yet fitted), PWR custon radiator cross flow 75mm core with inbuilt water to oil oil cooler.

Drive train: Is currently running a standard 5 spd gearbox with ATS carbon twin plate clutch. This will be swapped for a Getrag 6 spd (R34 gear box) with Ats carbon twin plate clutch a one piece carbon tail shaft as soon as the engine is tuned and will also be looking at fitting a ATS 1.5way front diff as soon as the budget allows.

Electronics: Running the engine in on the standard computer injectors and afm's at the moment will be fitting a Motec M800 ecu as soon as I have enough klm's on the engine with motec boost control. Ruzic engineering (user name mountain runner) series 2 engine monitor, Ruzic engineering Race logger (in beta testing now) and will be looking at fitting a Ruzic engineering 4wd controller once the data logger is fitted so i can maximize my set up.

There is probably a heap of other stuff i have forgotten but as like nearly all race cars it will be constant and ongoing deveolpment. All work on the car apart from the roll cage and exhaust fabrication has been done by myself in my shed out the back without the help of any sponsors so has been a long hard slog and kept me poor but am starting to see some light at the end of the tunnel and is starting to make all the hard work and sacrifice worth it.

Looks great, will read on...

    • HFM BM57 has a "bad" knee point, IIRC. It's not the same thing as the later R chassis MC.
    • The ATTESSA is functionally identical to R34; there were a bunch of JDM models that continued ATTESSA including Fuga/Q70, Skyline/Q50, Cima etc as an option. All with Auto only and I think mostly for snow regions. AFAIK there were no AWD VR30DDTT sold in Australia - it is on my to do list to check regs for racing a LHD car in Targa/ATR/AASA/CAMS events because if I can get the auto to work it would be interesting to run a 4wd car The Ecuteck TCM tuning is the same model as their ECU tuning, they already have it for R35 and Dose's favourite, BMW. You buy "points" to allow your computer to be tuned, buy either a bluetooth (phone app) or bluetooth+USB+Key (phone and PC) dongle, and pay for a tune that will be locked to your tuner ( ). You can also access the tuning software yourself but 1. it is mega expensive and 2. these computers have a billion parameters that intersect, so how could you ever spend enough time on it to get a decent result.
    • Or, is it a case of what it is like owning an R series Skyline? NFI what the previous owner has done or fiddled with... Ha ha ha After reading through this thread, I went on a bit of a research about the Q50/Q60. Now I'm quite intrigued by them! Is the AWD in them more like a WRX where it's always AWD, or is it more like the ATTESSA in the GTRs? By the sound of this TCU tuning, this sounds like a case of someone has made some real software for it, and you just need the right piece of hardware, and then you license that specific vehicle/TCU. Or is this a case of the software will be really expensive so only a few tuners have it, and you still have to pay a license per vehicle?
    • By popular demand.. it was a coil. Got my hands on 1 new OEM coil, replaced with the one that made the less noise difference when I unplugged it while the car was running and started the car up. No stutter and the engine light was gone. I guess I’ll buy the other 5 they have lol
    • No, code 21 is very straightforward. It can only be the things described in that diagnostic flow. In fact it has no way of knowing that the spark plug resistance is out of spec.
