I think this guy has a point.

What difference does it matter if he is over 1 cm or 1 km? He is over the line and it is not the truck drivers responsibility to adjust for him. It's all nice and friendly to make swerves to avoid someone who has made a mistake but not when you could quite possibly cause and accident in the process. The guy is driving a truck remember not a mini minor.

Actually it is, sort of. As I understand it you are obliged to do what you can to avoid an accident.

As far as I know you are allowed to break the law to avoid accidents and be deemed in the right but regardless of whether the trucky wanted to avoid the gtr or not he will never be seen in the wrong as that would be one hell of a hard point to argue in court. And the point I was trying to put across is why should the truck have to deviate from his line and possibly go into another lane to avoid someone who is clearly in the wrong? I've always been told never swerve to miss things (people and the like not included) because if you do swerve and hit something it won't be the vehicle you tried to miss to blame, it will be you.

Bad luck mate, hopefully she'll be back to her full glory in no time.

Unfortunately you are at fault by crossing the stop line and entering the road onto on coming traffic, no point trying to blame someone else for your mistake :)

mate i'm not blaming him. i take full reponsibility and biting the bullet. but lesson learn't don't go over the line!

I think you should get some legal advice....

Just because you are in the wrong doesn't give some else the right to hit you...for instance...if your are parked in a no stopping lane it does not give someone the right to rear end you...Every driver is oblidged to avoid collision where possible...I think the law changes when vehicles are stationary as well...The truck driver has admitted he did not see you...this is an admission that he was not taking care and paying enough attention to what was in front of him. He can't say that you didn't stop because he did not see you...Do you have any witnesses that will vouch that you were stationary when he hit you?

Once again get some advice...

just noticed in the pics, there appears to be a stop line in about the middle of your car. ie: you were 2m over it. not 30-40cm. correct me if im wrong.

i know it sucks. but i just got quoted $3200 to fix my suspension. blown engine... gearbox... all could be much more expensive. hurts to see your car wounded though.

good luck with repairs.

Oh fark me

Those truckies; last night i was driving my car and a truckie in the middle lane kept weaving left to right. I had to downgear and wait for the right moment to pass him; ever seen that part in terminator 2 with the bike passing the truck in the tunnel.

They are crazy, bad luck you stuck your nose out but at least its all fibreglass and plastic, not the chassi.

Do i smell a z-tune front bar and guards; maybe an arc intercooler?

    • This coupled with 6-9 speed autos with ridiculously short gearing is why these modern shitbox cars always seem so fast off the line. If it wasn't for those things, Raptors would not seem fast. The problem we have is there is a driveability gap between a more gentle take off and a wheelspinning sideways launch. The difference between ankle flex required to achieve one and ankle flex required to achieve the other is about 0.5°.
    • Yeah I think I'm also with the opposite here. It's 'hard to keep up with traffic' because in the real world I'm accelerating with 15% throttle and they are pinning it. It feels like I'm being an overt dickhead at anything above 15% throttle, so the car sounds like I'm being an overt dickhead to keep up with/get ahead of traffic when I'm really just trying to drive with traffic. There would be no issue 'keeping up with traffic' if we used the same level of throttle input/aggression to drive around. People really do just drive around with their foot nearly pinned in econoboxes.
    • To be fair it's the other way around. 300kw is boring in a modern Golf or BMW. They are so competent / well-engineered / devoid of emotion that you have to go stupid fast to feel anything. Whereas the <300kw RB still makes all the right noises and it feels good to drive. Can pull off at the lights with the turbo whooshing and the blow-off pssshing and feel like the coolest kid on the block. Just don't look to the side where you'll see the bored housewifes in their shitbox Yaris/Corolla/Camry that kept up because you didn't go fast at all
    • 300kW is so boring in a Skyline, you'll get spanked by someone's mum's Golf with Alibaba pipes, and an email tune.
    • Wow! how times change 2017 $15k seems expensive... now $30-$50k is the price.
