NZM.031
if this is indeed what youve done, drain some out asap... it will be churning up the oil and aerating it... causing it to be more like whipped cream than pouring cream. it will also pressurise the sump causing more blowby and more oil consumption... being that the turbo runs on bushes, with aerated oil, this will wear causing oil into the turbo, hence you oil dripping from the bottom of the cooler.. and also running rough as the engine tries to burn the amount of oil coming in... fouling the plugs etc.. will happen worse with boost. it also does wonders the already fragile oil pump as it cavitates away trying to pump the whipped oil. when it comes to engine oil, or any other fluids, its ok to admit defeat if you dont know what you are doing.. ive had to go over an entire brake system when someone put engine oil the brake fluid in a euro car because they couldnt figure out the picture on the cap... dont under estimate a simple top up, its too easy to get wrong. Beer Baron
dude, you have to completely drain the old oil out before you put the new stuff in. ie. take care for a drive so oil is warm. jack up the front. place drip tray under the sump. take off top oil cap undo sump plug bolt let oil drain out the bottom for 10 mins or so then put sump plug back in fill up from the top to the appropriate level. each car takes a different amount of oil. make sure you know how much your car needs replace oil cap. start car, run for a minute or two. turn car off and check oil level. top up or drain as needed. now enjoy. also, personally I would go with a better oil than turbolight. it's cheap rubbish really. sure it may be 'ok' but there are many better oils out there. if you want something that is actually good, go with motul chrono 300V. very good oil for your skyline to live a long happy life. TTT
sump = empty sump + 5L oil = sump with 5L of oil sell to new owner sump = 4L of oil in it (let say it's used/leaked a litre) sump with 4L oil + new 2L oil = sump with 6L oil OBVIOUSLY it's going to blow out of where ever it can. I don't mean to be rude, but how can you get an oil change wrong? even if you are a ford man. I'm pretty sure Fords have sumps and hold x amount of oil which you DRAIN via the sump plug before putting new oil in. For the record, I used Motul 4100 turbolight for over a year on one of my old R32 GTST's. never had a problem. it was only a street car. didn't go to a track or strip and didn't spend any time sideways. Current skyline is on a diet of Castrol Edge range. 10w40 in winter and 10w60 in summer Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/247679-argh-motul-turbolight-4100-wtf/page/2/#findComment-4305767 Share on other sites
2rismo
There's no reason to believe that he's farked his engine by overfilling the oil. Just do as has been instructed already and get on with life. gotRICE?
I use Turbolite too in my R33. Dont see what the problem with it is. Using the 300V on a street car is way overkill IMO. Maybe in a highly strung engine its alot better, but in humble old NZ i have to get even Turbolite from Aus, and its not cheap. I noticed the car runs alot smoother and idles alot quieter with the Turbolite. Apart from the exhaust and fan, the engine is silent. Cant be all bad! gfunkk
Haha im keen to see a response to this, he's either put 2L on top of the existing 4L or drained it all and only put 2L in I wonder if he changed the filter? I find turbolight 10w40 is a bit thin for old engines like ca18 and rb20, especially for drift when its getting hot and thin Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/247679-argh-motul-turbolight-4100-wtf/page/2/#findComment-4306047 Share on other sites

(B1) MR_fanny
Ford or no ford, when you change your oil you drain the old one out first...lol Just ask a mate who is mechanically minded to show you how to do it, that or take it to a mech and get them to show you. Swallow your pride and learn something or else you'll end up killing something like your car. PUDZ 32R
yeh windage will cause whipped oil. your engine will be A1 ok when you sort the problem out. just drain the WHOLE lot INCLUDING the oil filter cos it can hold about 500ml of shitty aerated oil. replace the oil filter then refill with good oil. personally i use castrol edge. i would also suggets changing the oil again in about 400km (not 4000) just to make sure you have got all the shit oil out. then every 5000k should be great. hope you get it all sorted out soon. guys not everyone is mech minded.. so i think we should be HELPING our fellow skyline lovers. not laughing at them..... Ultimategtr
After reading all the replies to such a simple question, it would be obvious the guy knows his mistake and hopefully is trying to get it sorted. No need to overly laugh at his mishap. Im sure we all have done something stupid haha. Anyway, do i see a padlock coming to this thread? And how did you fix it? Did you just do another oil change or did you do an engine flush and redo the oil and oil filter again?
