I left the factory restrictors in since I am already robbing oil for the VCT.

Drilled the oil returns too.

WIll post up how it goes.

Same setup as me, the factory ones are supposted to be 1.8mm. How is it working out for you so far? im tossing up whether to fit a large capacity sump to prevent any oil starvation in the bottom end just as some extra precaution...

With the solid lifter conversion I no longer have to feed the vct orthe hydraulic lifters, I am going with onw only head feed as the 26 guys do ans restricting it to one mil.

Farken sick of too much oil upstairs. :P

just finished doing this tonight. couldnt get enough bite to pull it out without drilling and tapping it a fair way through, but i simply loctited the bolt i used in there and am going to cut it off flush with the front. due to tapping it so far and not having a long enough 1.5mm drillbit i had to put the hole in the side a bit further back, but i had a good look inside the head and i cant see it making any difference.

anyone done anything special to make sure the plug doesnt come out? its pretty tight but i wanna make sure its not gonna move.

Loctite I guess. I doubt it will come out though. There isn't enough pressure or surface area to cause it to push out.

I will post up how I go too. Interested to see if I have too much oil in my head or not.

Sorry guys I know this is slightly off topic, but I didn't want to start a new topic. I am currently putting a rb25 vvt head on a 30 and will be doing this mod.. but there is a oil return on the exhaust side of the head that goes via a pipe to the block. So my problem is RB30 blocks don't have this hole in the same place, so would it be alright to extend that hose and use a t piece to let it return through the turbo oil return on the block. Hope this makes sense I can take pictures if needed.

The guide is just so vague with everything. I mean it helps a fair bit with what fits what and so on, but when it comes to the finer things it sort of tells you how to get it done but not really. If I really want to learn how to do this I want to get experiences from others and how they went about it. I mean the guide still says NEO heads may have different oil and water galleries and hasn't been updated so how can I rely on that when going down this path.

If there is any more detailed information available could someone please post a link. Thanks

drilled from one feed to the other .. get the angle right or you could end up with oil where you dont want it

picky of where I drilled between the first 2 (intake) cam journals

Drilled and tapped the outer layer to take a bung

Dummy fitted the bung to show what it looks like finished

Head was then dissassembled for further mods before being cleaned an reassembled

Hope this helps people
