Dajae - I bought a pierburg but haven't fitted it yet...I created a thread on my findings and what I can tell you is that it flows more than the aeromotive stealth by a decent margin but I can't recall the figures exactly.

As a comparison, Bosch 044 flows 200ltrs/min @ 5bar whereas the pierburg flows 360ltrs/min @ 5bar.

They are not cheap so expect to pay about $450 with a filter.

The pierburg pumps only flow around 300l/min @5bar which makes them just shy of supplying 6x 1000cc injectors. For 6x 1000cc injectors I would still prefer to run two dw300 pumps at a base pressure of 4 bar. That way you can switch the second pump at higher load.

They take alot of meat out of the block to fit the 3.4 stroker. Have heard of a few blocks not holding up for long.

Have u tested one before?

Only what i have been told never seen

lol..

Well i did the prep work to our block for the 3.4 and the amount you remove isnt much at all. About a 0.080" chamfer at the base of bores which is more precautionary then neccesary and the oil pick up tube needs about 0.060"-0.080" to allow for stretch so the rod bolt head doesnt hit the tube wall on the first three cylinders. That is all the clearancing required. Its pretty basic and nothing overly critical to block integrity.

I will take a picture to show.

As you can see, its not alot of work to do and your not really removing much material.

Rumours are always good for a laugh :)

Considering you have removed way more than you actually need to Mike those rumors are a bloody joke.

Cant remember off the top of my head. I can check it tonight and see. Im guessing you mean the oil pick up gallery thats in the picture?

Yeah.

I understand you probably won't be using it due to a dry sump setup but for the regular folk it would be interesting to know how deep they need to go into that gallery wall

Dan,did some crude measuring with the vernier and it seems the wall thickness is about 4.5mm. I took off 2mm(0.080") so you would be left with 2.5mm wall in the relieved section. However if you did the regular 1.5mm (0.060") clearance you would have 3mm or thereabouts.

  • 4 weeks later...

Decided it was time i did some proper port matching on the twins and open up the exits of the manifold while i was there. Looks like it payed off i went from 405rwkw to 430 on 1 psi less boost using 98octane at 23psi. Check out how flat my boost curve is. :rofl2:

Closer inspection was almost identical boost pressure but only 395kw on this particular run. I ran 131mph on 395kw so will see in a few weeks if it turns in mph.. Changes that could account for the gains were opening up stock manifolds and port matching everything. Removing unused 02 sensors from the very small split dump entries. Repairing front turbo outlet pipe which was squashed after i got to it with a hammer to make some clearance from the rocker cover due to a miss allignment of the front compressor housing and i CBF pulling the turbo off.. >_< So bring on willowbank i can finally start working on getting my times down without getting asked to leave every visit..

^^

Attention to detail definitely is key here. The -5 results range from 320 to 450 kw plus for example. It ain't quite as simple as 'chucking on a set of snail, turning up the boost and BOOM, fantastic result'

    • There's restrictor pills in the stock boost control hoses. That's how they set the amount that was bled off and hence the "high" boost setting. The usual mod in the day was to remove it and send the "high" boost setting up to about 14 psi.
    • Thanks Duncan, that's the best info I've read. Furthermore after learning about the PCM programming side controlling the factory boost solenoid, the purpose of the solenoid is to "bleed" boost when pin 25 is earthed, thus allowing spring pressure in the wastegate actuator to overcome diaphragm boost pressure, thus closing or reducing the position of the wastegate flap creating more boost as the turbo is able to spin faster. It's pretty cool to see a designated Pill to do exactly this, would have liked to have seen it with a tiny filter over the end for those moments in vacuum.  The constant bleed pill has now been removed completely from the system and solenoid boost control has been restored once again.   Case closed 😂
    • The wideband reading is meaningless if it's not running. Why are you using shitty old sidefeeds on any engine, let alone a Neo? What manifold and fuel rail are you using to achieve that? Beyond that, can't help you with AEM stuff as I've never been their ECU/CAS combo.
    • Manual boost controllers (where a little of the boost was bled off) were quite common back in the day, because they were cheap and easy. Generally they had a manual adjustment screw rather than being fixed like yours. Down side is they always bleed boost, not just when you want them to so an electronic boost controller that uses a solenoid will have less lag.
    • Hello , im new here and i have A31 home build  RB25det neo stock eng / turbo  aem ems 2 blue connector  aem 3.5 map aem cas disk aem wideband connected to ecu  355 lph pump 550 nismo yellow injectors side feed aftermarket regulator  and won’t start with base aem tuner basic tune eventually flipped cas 180 degree so it triggers on correct stroke not in exhaust cycle  Now it won’t start Wideband reads 10 and 11 at lowest fuel setting  and will share calibrations soon for aem tuner i think something is wrong in aem tuner    please if you have any information, am very grateful
