Now I say test because I'm using an application on my iPhone to test this. I was expecting <14.3 but have been getting between 14.4 - 15.1 depending on launch.

The reason i expected a certain time is due to a friend of mine getting a 14.4 i believe, in a bunky piece of shit s13 CA18 running like a brick who to all of my knowledge drives terribly.

The application asks for certain parameters and I put my weight as the stock 1320kg + my 75kg + a tank of fuel 60kg = 1455kg which if incorrect will effect the outcome, does this weight sound about right ?

also i think i could probably get faster because its listing my 60ft time on my best run of 14.42 as 2.57 sec, i understand that's quite high ?

my question is should i expect a faster 1/4 mile with these mods:

3" turbo back exhaust

3inch stainless intake with pod

FMIC

never dyno'd but this application says 160rwkw on my best run

also does that time sound unusual for the S13 ?

Ill post graph of run if anyone is interested, also its called dynolicious if any of you want to check it out.

0-100 km/h = 6.43 sec

0-160 km/h = 13.87 sec

60' = 2.57 sec @ 45.2 km/h

1/8 mi = 9.51 sec @ 130 km/h

1000' = 12.18 sec @ 149.6 km/h

1/4 mi = 14.42 sec @ 166.3 km/h

max G's = 0.60 G's

peak power = 160rwkw

does this all seem consistent or should i worry it isnt accurate ?

if it is right, looking at my 60foot and final speed do i have much room to improve ?

if this thing is right, you can do in the high 13 sec. 2.57 60ft time sucks, you need to get in the 2.0-2.2 and you'll hit 13.

thats what i thought, was expecting a 0 - 100 closer to 6 than i been getting. Having trouble launching with traction. very inconsistent. dunno weather to dump it on launch at a lower rpm or ease off the throttle at a higher rpm

might also need some new tyres. ive had the same crappy no name ones on since i bought the car. keep putting off RE01's till i get new wheels >_>

Take it to a real strip. Where are you managing to run a 1/4mile on the street anyway? 166kmh is well over the speed limit

P.S. with 183rwkw I ran a 13.9 @ 103mph, 2.3sec 60' (no traction in 1st).

Bubba, he said he's doing it on his iPhone (ie it's a simulation).

thrtytwo,

A RB20DET only puts 160kW at the flywheel, and only when it's new. I doubt with your minimal mods you would have 130kW at the rears.

The weight only comes into the power calculation, so the acceleration time should be reasonably accurate as long as the hardware and software are up to it.

If you run at the track use the iPhone as well to compare and post up results.

Yeah the weight shouldn't matter unless you are wanting to estimate power - the time etc SHOULD be fairly ok if the phone is mounted well and the road is good etc. We tried out my mates Dynolicious setup on his iPhone and the results seemed all screwed though I had a look through the settings and the rollout was "0" etc which can make your 60ft/ET etc look worse than if you ran it at the strip. Check the config and see if the rollout is set to something sensible, 166kph should have you in the 13s.

Things like GTimers come default with sensible rollout and "start timing" g-Force settings so are a bit more realistic from the outset.

I say track it and really find out.

To be honest I think the iphone meter is way off.

An exhaust and FMIC has your Rb20 pulling 103mph over the quarter? That is big MPH for not many mods!

Considering stock is low 90mphs at best, thats is a massive increase.

Not ragging on your car but I believe it is far off being accurate.

My 34GTT pulls a 14.0 with a cat back and boost, at a best trap speed (not on the quickest run) of 99mph, for comparison.

Also on topic, 2.5 seconds for a 60ft is pretty slow, but its not easy to get it right. Anything near the 2 flat is doing pretty well. Whatever you shave off in the 60ft, double it and thats what will be off your time by the end (generally speaking this is pretty accurate)

If your car really is hitting 166kmph, you should be well into the 13s!

No, I think he's using an app on his iPhone which uses the GPS features to time himself. It's not all virtual :)

I managed a 100mph on my first drag day of my life with my rb20 with only exhaust & fmic, stock boost at 10-11 psi. and my clutch started to slip on 3rd gear..

Really? Whoa... there are some major discrepancies with results in the drag area. I know there are many variables and we are talking about 20 year old cars which doesnt help, but thats good mph.

On the same track (We race at benaraby raceway) my mates SR sil, hiflo turbo, cooler, zorst, 17ish psi boost managed 98mph. Obviously you would expect higher if you are pulling 100 with such minimal mods, considering the SR has bucket loads or torque.

Without coming up with excuses most cars seem to be abit down on what they should be at Benaraby.

Then again, a dead stock JZX100 Chaser was pulling 94ish MPH, which is pretty much the same MPH I was pulling back when I first got the 34. Hmmmm its interesting. But from my expericences of sitting and watching/racing against, most 32 skylines with coolers and boost are not coming near 100mph.

Congrats to those who do though, you are obviously making some good power ;)

Well out of 3x 32's that I personally know over here all making the same power (my RB30 making an early 250rwhp, and two mates with RB20's sporting 25 turbos and all the usually bolt on stuff.. one untuned the other a de+t tuned), we've all run 102/103mph.

    • This looks great! Awesome to have the 5 speed with an LSD in this. The Recaro's look like SR2's or SR3's. It's a shame they've been retrimmed as they would have looked sweet in their original colours. I think I'd want my agent to be a little more up front and informative too. I've never imported but I reckon it would make me a little nervous, so the more info the better.
    • Thanks for doing that Duncan! Makes you a good person in my books. We don't get kangaroos or wombats here. But we have bats and it's similar. AFAIK it's often the mums with a baby attached that get hit because they drop lower when starting from a tree. If you hit an animal, check on it. https://www.ifaw.org/au/resources/wildlife-rescue-app An app to get the closest wildlife rescue contact.
    • My dream is also to have a proper hoist, but I don't think it will ever happen. My quickjack is probably as close as I'll ever get, it really is very good though.
    • Yeah we keep on in the dailies, it is pretty poor how many animals get hit and the driver leaves without checking....have saved a couple of little ones over the years. Bit of a gruesome job though, pouches generally need to be cut open because they are so tight and often the joey doesn't realise mum is gone so they are still locked onto the teat. I checked the modules in front of the DS wheel where an oil cooler should go.... There is the radar unit - that can go for race use) One of the 2 HX water pumps, the silver cylinder. That needs to be kept but might be able to be relocated But the bad news, the big computer mounted vertically in front of the wheel (blocking any potential air exit) is the electric steering computer. That is required until/unless i do a hydraulic steering conversion, and in CAD based modern car design it is not like I can just pop a big unit like that somewhere else (plus the loom would be too short anywhere else too). So, the passenger side is OK to clear out (just use a smaller washer reservoir, potentially elsewhere), but the DS no beuno
    • Well, all the best with the new camry It was interesting to hear about the UK process, it is generally a lot more streamlined here with a shipping agent looking after all the import side (noting the exact final price can still be a surprise.....) and I've used a few different brokers on the japan (or US) side, and never had any trouble with any of them....luck of the draw I guess. You mentioned you didn't get the auction sheet (understandable since you bought it from a dealer, not auction), but I always try and get hold of that because they are pretty thorough. I've imported 2x R grade vehicles over the years and both were fine, repairs in Japan are pretty thorough compared to here in Oz.
