yeah chad, i already have the multi vehicle discount (ends up being 3 cars including the trailer :)). Helps for another 10% with the cams licence. They reckon the value of my skyline could easily triple once its done

This has been my only "attempt" at a claim with Just Car. Had a guy back into me, got his number and rego (and yes, i know i should have got more from him). Filed a police report, gave JC the necessary time to obtain the report. When they ran the rego, it had no named driver, yeah, figure that one out? I was under the assumption that all registered cars have a named owner. I gave them his number, a number i had been dialling constantly for days without success, they apparently spoke to him, and he denied all knowledge of this taking place. They then said there is nothing they can do, and offered to fix my front bar, all id have to do is pay my $2500 excess. Yeah right.

do you have your rating 1 protected (if your a rating 1)? as you would no only have to pay the excess but your premiums would go from 65% - 45% NCB rating

cars don't have registered drivers just registered owners, no proof as to who was driving the vehicle

Give Shannons a call mate. You can get cover called "laid up" i think they call it, which is cover for cars that are not being driven.

just got off the phone to insurance companys:

Shannons: wont cover my car because its not registerd, and i have no licence and im 19 and they dont like insuring younger people ive heard. they also asked if i was part of any car clubs, had my cams licence or was part of any car show places such as autosalon, this might help people who have all of that lol.

Just Cars: wont cover my car on the track because it is too risky they said, and the car is not registered so my insurance atm dosent even cover me which sucks

has any1 else got any ideas about insurance? my car only gets driven onto the trailer, then on back of trailer to mallala. i pay 600 a year for insurance as it is and on top of that rego for a car thats not even on roads. cheers guys

i think ya might hav had some chance if ya had a cams licence and were part of a cams affiliated club. other than that you've not got a lot of options aside from the current situation you're in

yeah might just have to re-register it and then insure it, might put it in a full licence drivers name whos over 25 too keep insurance down concidering i dont drive it, they will be

Have been with LSV for 5 years now, they were called something else b/4, have had no traffic infringments in that time, am over 40 y/o and no claims. Last year my premium was $705.43/ $750 excess/ $18,000 cover. This year my premium will be $847.00/ $1000 excess / $16,000 cover. I reckon that sucks considering I've been the model customer from their point of view, yet I'm being penalised. $847.00 might not be so bad compared with some premiums quoted on this thread, but considering my history, age etc, I would have thought a CPI increase rather than a 20% hike would have been adequate. Will try Shannons for a quote just to see how they rate in comparison.

That sounds like your paying way too much....specially with a record like that....please do let us know what shannons quote you mate

Got round to putting insurance on my car today. Going through Shannons, spoke to them at the Old School N' New Age Car Show.

Age:22-23

Driving/Claim History: Clean

Car: 1997 R33 GTST

Mods: FMIC

The car is insured for $16,000, and i am paying $119 per month for Full Comp.

What type of mods can i put on my policy? Turbo, ECU, Injectors, etc etc? Cos i am going to be putting some on shortly.

You should contact shannons about that particular issue Abe

its my understanding that you should never keep your insurer in the dark about modifications.

That is also very true damien.....as if they dont know and your in a crash then they cannot pay up for your brand new turbo....

I rang Shannon's again today to add some mods to my car that i hadn't listed, my 17" rims, bilstein shocks and GTR seats...it raised my premium another $70. So i shall be paying about $1490, and apparently with turbo, ecu, and injectors, it will take it to about $1550. I am beginning to wonder if it is worth it.

Ask yourself that if your car gets stolen and/or written off.

It'll be a heartfelt yes on that occasion

    • Hello, sorry for being late to join the discussion, but my clock just died on me.   Ive tried to look at Michaels digital clock repair.docx and it doesnt work maybe the file has expired.   Please let me know if you can re upload it or take some youtube videos to show us how to get the clock installed? thanks
    • I thought that might be the case, thats what I'll start saving for. Thanks for the info
    • Ps i found the below forum and it seems to be the same scenario Im dealing with. Going to check my ECU coolant temp wire tomorrow    From NICOclub forum: s1 RB25det flooding at start up Thu Apr 11, 2013 7:23 am I am completely lost on this. Car ran perfectly fine when I parked it at the end of the year. I took the engine out and painted the engine bay, and put a fuel cell with an inline walbro 255 instead of the in tank unit I had last year. After reinstalling everything, the engine floods when the fuel pump primes. if i pull the fuel pump fuse it'll start, and as soon as I put the fuse back in it starts running ridiculously rich. I checked the tps voltage, and its fine. Cleaned the maf as it had some dust from sitting on a shelf all winter, fuel pressure is correct while running, but wont fire until there is less than 5psi in the lines. The fuel lines are run correctly. I have found a few threads with the same problem but no actual explanation of what fixed it, the threads just ended. Any help would be appreciated. I found the problem though. There was a break in one of the ecu coolant temp sensor wires. Once it was repaired it fired right up with no problems. I would have never thought a non working coolant temp sensor would have caused such an issue.
    • Hi sorry late reply I didnt get a chance to take any pics (my mechanics on the other side of the city) but the plugs were fouled from being too rich. I noticed the MAF wasn't genuine, so I replaced it with a genuine green label unit. I also swapped in a different ignitor, but the issue remains. I've narrowed it down a bit now: - If I unplug and reconnect the fuel lines and install fresh spark plugs, the car starts right up and runs perfectly. Took it around the block with no issues - As soon as I shut it off and try to restart, it won't start again - Fuel pressure while cranking is steady around 40 psi, injectors have good spray, return line is clear, and the FPR vacuum is working. It just seems like it's getting flooded after the first start I unplugged coolant sensors to see if its related to ECU flooding but that didnt make a difference. Im thinking its related to this because this issue only started happening after fixing coolant leaks and replacing the bottom part of the stock manifolds coolant pipe. My mechanic took off the inlet to get to get to do these repairs. My mechanics actually just an old mate who's retired now so ill be taking it to a different mechanic who i know has exp with RBs to see if they find anything. If you have any ideas please send em lll give it a try. Ive tried other things like swapping the injectors, fuel rail, different fuel pressure regs, different ignitor, spark plugs, comp test and MAF but the same issue persists.
    • My return flow is custom and puts the return behind the reo, instead of at the bottom. All my core is in the air flow, rather than losing some of it up behind the reo. I realise that the core really acts more as a spiky heatsink than as a constant rate heat exchanger, and that therefore size is important.... but mine fits everything I needed and wanted without having to cut anything, and that's worth something too. And there won't be a hot patch of core up behind the reo after every hit, releasing heat back into the intake air.
