Maybe I should just follow a dream here, build the XB GT properly, sell it and do this with money to spare. The trick is building it so that its always classy and you don't want to sell it.

The way I see it financially for this kind of car:

Initial purchase price: low.

Modification cost: moderate.

Sex appeal: immeasurable.

Downside though

Depreciation: high as

I could turbo the V35 but since just for crusing just keep it N/A.

Im using a supra twin turbo as a cruiser, but here are the other setups i be more than happy with (and sometimes wis i did instead of the supra);

Stagea 260RS

-Teins

-Project Mu discs and pads

-Stock motor

-N1 turbos

-PFC

-ARC airbox

-Tomei dumps

-HKS front pipes

-HKS silent hi power catback

-Decent sub, cd stacker

-Tinted windows

-Any JDM style rims aslong as they're dark

Chaser

-GT35R

-Supporting mods

-JDM suspension (Tein, HKS etc)

-HKS silent hi power exhaust

Mitsubishi legnum (sp) vr4

-Lowered

-Rims

-Stock everything else

FYI the supra has a GT35R here, injectors etc all waiting to bolt on - and its an auto so its dead easy to sit in and cruise all day long. Plus getting something with an RB26 or 1/2JZGTE makes a great base for reliable power and great torque for street use, well, the RB26 will last for a while if you dont need big power for a cruiser :ermm:

+1 for the modded Stag. I had one (just sold it) with just over 500hp atw. Not many people took any notice, until I took it to the drags. I loled.

That aside they are a great crusier.

JZX110 Verossa, JZX-100 Chaser or JZX90 Mark II, C35 Laurel, Y34 Gloria or F50 Cima

Any of them dumped to within an inch of the ground with Fabulous wheels that makes baby jesus say "hektik dish uleh" in black, silver or white and you've got yourself a kick ass cruiser.

Leather interior, yakuza-spec tint AND curtains, passenger side drink tray, VIP kit (Fabulous, Wald etc) and some gangster angled exhausts are a MUST.

I don't fully understand why people are attracted to the chaser. It has a worse engine than an Aristo and the same chassis minus some interior luxuries sure they look nice modified but they are still more expensive than an Aristo.

*confused face*

You've never driven a JZX100 have you :ermm:

For those who are not sure why the Chasers are a popular car go drive a manual one. I have owned two TRD versions and have an Aristo now. Id take the Chaser every day.

This is a man who knows whats up

As for my Jap cruiser daily, it'd be a UZS171 Crown Majesta. Super White, 19s, lowish sus (not decked though, fked out roads where I am), nice beefy exhaust. Wouldn't do much mod wise really, just something comfortable, quick and different from the norm.

Something like this:

Its amazing that most of the support is for the aristo/chaser and not a nissan - on a skyline forum!

A stagea would be okay I guess, but I'm not attracted to very many wagons.

I am sorry there Andrew but that crown (in my opinion) is making me taste bile...

this was mine. :)

Dude, that is fucking cool aye, easily the best Leggy I've seen to date. The black rims and black 'Super VR4' extensions work so well.

I tip my hat to your ride.

Going to throw something a little out of the blue:

No?

All leather, all electronics.. all sex..

Its cool and all

but I'd prefer the Toyota Century which is cooler... well if you were the CEO's of japan. that's what they used to roll in... ever since the late 1960's. I think it could even be the longest running japanese model. I came across one which had a TV in it... not an LCD... but like a big fuckoff cathode tube jobby. AND a barfridge.

cheers! :)

i much preferred it to the colour coded super vr-4's i've seen.

it's a genuine super vr-4 too.. only sold it a few weeks ago.

You get better low end drivability and fuel economy by adding turbos, two important attributes for cruising around town.

The VQ35DE is more than good enough around town in terms of drivability, but you can always make it better. :)

Then you open up the throttle and watch your fuel go down... LOL!

For sure, VQ35DE's have a massive amount of potential to done up :)

aristo.

full of creature comforts in 1991.

aristo.

full of electrical headaches and problems in 2009.

and yes R33dude. pics will be plentiful - my V35 will be the first of it's kind in australia.. meaning.. modified. but not lebspec.

im either going gold reverse mesh OR

pearl colour coded Trafficstar dtx 20"

i have a few other ideas which im not disclosing because i got really mad when people tried copying the look of my cefiro haha

dont lie... you love teh lebspec:P

if you want a hardcore lebspec come to me... all my mates are lebs :)

    • Am I correct in assuming that the R35's are getting the classic skyline haircut off the odometer?  Quick search on carsales, there are 33 08 and 09 GTR's for sale, only 2 of them have more then 100,000km's on them (116,075 and 110,000 respectively).  And somehow there are about 25 for sale with around 60,000kms? Looks like the classic skyline haircut to me =/
    • @Stringycheese  Have you only gone to the one blue slip workshop?  There will be a heap of them where ever you live, good odds that the next place you go to will pass the car.  Unfortunately (or fortunately?) every blue slip / engineering workshop will be different and will be happy passing or failing different things - despite working from the same set of rules. It's kinda like 2 lawyers arguing over a piece of legislation, each saying their interpretation is correct. Might seem strange that this happens when it comes to getting a modified car passed, but this is very much a thing. A big part of the game is finding an engineer / workshop that is on the same page as you.
    • Bah. I daily mine. ~60km per work day, 10-12 thousand km per year. What's the point of having a dirty old Datto and leaving it in the shed. It needs to be driven and enjoyed while the govco allows us to do so. It will only be a few years before we're forbidden to even start up internal combustion engines.
    • Judging by that spring perch and the normal looking spring on it - not a coilover. Well.... it is a coilover, just a stock format coilover, rather than what everyone calls a coilover.
    • Yes it is. We get stock from Nismo directly. I'm happy to take photos/video of it as proof before I ship it with timestamps or whathaveyou.
