It was another ATCC driver with the initials CMcC. He's driven quiet a few Porsches and took the GTP championship and Porsche Supercup back in 1994/95 in a Porka...

He contributes to magazine, whose editor drove an XR6 in Targa Tassie.

Woo hoo! Tied that one together as well! LOL

Now we shall let it rest...

i am a huge fan of the xr6t, i love the shape, the beastie look, the power and the leather seats ect its great

i also love the r34's but i'd have to go for the xr6 over the r34, its better for every day driving, newer, easyer on insurance, cheaper to fix ect

but thats just me

Just because 1 amg beat 1 porsche around 1 track on 1 day of the year dont mean you can say an amg will beat a 996 turbo around a track.

I wouldnt mind the F1 AMG pace car tho.

I been driving around a BA XT Falcon for the last few months (hire car for work) and its quite a nice ride but feels very big/heavy and unstable at high speeds. I know the XR6 has a total different suspension setup but its based on the XT chassis and it aint all that good.

The whole IRS/wheel package/steering set-up is different. It's a totally different feel. I've had a steer in an XT on a skid pan with the base handling, tyres, steering, no lsd and traction control switched off. Yee haar. The XT is sooo different to the XR which is a different feel to the R34 again.

As for Porka vs Merc. It'd be down to the drivers on the other 364 days of the year. But the Merc's quicker off the mark (750Nm does that!). The Ford was absent at this battle, although we DID pass an ED XR6 on the way to the track...

gee guys, I think the HUGE point we are all overlooking here is the fact the a MAJOR manufacturing company is now producing a turbo car for the masses. this has to eventually lead to lower insurance and a more welcoming joe public.

As for the BA, I give ford full credit for having the bollocks to do it - it's not a bad car, got to give credit where it's due.

What are you on Prozac or something !

Look both are good cars. the R34 will be in better condition after 10,000Km on the clock than a similar treated Falcon.

If you want a 4 door go the XR6T it's all that.

Coupe wise the R34.

    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
    • So, now all you need to do is connect the 2 or 3x 12v feeds into the unit to permanent 12v, ACC 12V and IGN 12V that you can find in the spot behind the stereo, and the earth, and then it will switch on with the car.
