Alright, I'm aware this is probably one of the most biased forums to ask for an opinion regarding these two cars, but I'm really struggling to choose between the two.

I've never actually driven either, but I've sat in both.

My personal pros and cons;

R34 Coupe:

Pros:

Newer.

Nicer interior.

Less K's and less chance of a lemon.

It's a Skyline.

I own the plates UNR34L.

Cons:

Can't afford a manual.

Somewhat common.

Will cost probably $2000-3000 more than a Supra.

Can't decide whether UNR34L plates are clever and cool, or just lame (like most custom plates).

Cop bait (well they both are, but more so than the Supra)

Supra:

Pros:

Sexy exterior. One of the best looking cars (if you remove the spoiler) IMO.

Cheaper.

Can sell "UNR34L" plates for quite a bit to put towards it.

Always wanted one.

Very uncommon (especially where I live)

Manuals are relatively common and cheap.

Cons:

Much older.

Very ugly dash and interior.

Much higher risk of a lemon.

Less back seat room than most coupe imports.

It's not a Skyline.

I'm really just looking for opinions on what they're like to drive on a daily basis, or any other problems or benefits you've found.

Thanks.

As unbiased as my opinion can be, I would get the R34.

The interior is much, much nicer, and that's where you spend all your time, inside the car.

If it's NA, there isn't really much there to be copbait, unless it's too low, or too loud?

i would get the r34 over the supra anyday if you wanna cruise around in it. However, if you want a faster NA car, id choose the supra anyday. At the end of the day, test drive both cars and see whether you want the stronger performer or the more comfortable vehicle.

Hope that helps

I would have thought if you're getting a NA version, speed wouldn't be the first point in deciding, and you wouldn't be modding it illegally. Comfort would be more important on the other hand, hence R34 would be your better choice. IMO the R34 looks less dated then the Supra. It'll boil down to personal choice at the end of the day right.

You guys have only made me more confused :(

You're right though. At the end of the day though it's still an NA. It's all about comfort and looks, nothing else.

In reality I'll probably just keep an eye out for both, and hopefully one day I'll just fall in love with one or grab a bargain.

Thanks for the input guys.

I was looking at Supras when i bought my NA r34. The things i didn't like about the supra were it was quite dated inside, and the way the dash is designed was really annoying. you'd probably get used to it, but its a little different to begin with.

in the end its up to personal preference, so just take both for a drive

That's exactly my issue. The interior is god damn hideous.

Then again, Supra's are several thousand cheaper, so maybe it's worth getting one and spending a grand on a fresh interior.

what wrong with u guys, the interior was my favourite part lol. it was like sitting in a jet fighter lol the 2000 model supras interiors were pretty awesome though, chrome bezels and stuff.

each to there own

id probably go supra - i beleive they have better performance than an NA skyline (down side, is larger engine, more petrol consumption)

as u said, older as well, unless u can get a 1998+ which has the vvti engine and all other upgrades - so same year as r34, but you are looking at a higher price for a supra if its 98+

and the interior - man i loved the interior!!!! all controls etc facing you only - as julz said - its like your in a fighter plane :(

The supra man non turbo can pull hard & power slides well.

The n/a R34 is kinda slugish & does not slid well...

If you want back seat room, YES skyline, The supra can't even fit a miget in the back.

In the end, I say supra n/a 1995-1996 model.

without the turbo the skyline lacks...

Are you serious? I've never been in a supra, but I can't Imagine having less room in the back then there is in my R34! lol

I'm exactly 6" in height. So I pretty much have to have the seat right back which mean it is literally pressing up against front of the rear seat. You cannot sit back there unless you sit cross legged.

    • I know people cry at the price of the Getrag 12-14k for a conversion now, but it really is a nice mid point. Not going to get change from 10k on a gearset installed.  $30k++ for sequential.   I know you run the risk of a damaged used one and parts are hard to get but as a street car gearbox its really hard to beat. If you enjoy a more traditional manual, its the choice no question.
