ive always wanted to find the car that i would be able to call 'the one'

gone through a few cars on the way, so heres the pics to show the journey.

from a nice cool prelude back in the days, loved the interior and dash of this car.

to the first turbo...mitsu cordia.

was heaps of fun, but the torque steer was to toooo much! had 2 of those,

the silver one way modified nicely and loved it, but not the one, put the greatest sound system in it but got over that very quick

so i decided i NEEDEd to buy an R32 gtr and im in love with the beast!!!!

i keep it put away in the garage and is purely a weekender because the feeling of coming home on friday and opening up the garage, taking the covers off and taking it out is unbelivable.

now i just look for excuses to drive it on the weekends lol

its very very clean, reasonable stock, tuned and dyno'd when i got it at 202kw at the 4.

running 13psi very safe tune but still fun for the road.

great fine white example of a 32gtr i think...and SUPER happy with the purchase.

....on order a set of 18x9.5 gtr face white advan tc2. fingers crossed they look good.

white rims on white car, still unsure. heres hoping! :D

ANY CRUISES IN VIC IM IN! and looking forward to it

best advice is to do it properly the forst time...wasted so much money on swapping changing and modying crap cars.

gtr now all the way!

is 202kw at the 4 bout average for a gtr with no serious mods at 13psi????

would of thought it would have a bit more.

its the affordable dream car...especially in white!

i will be taking very good care of her, gets washed every time its driven just about. lol

so whats the next step in mods if i wana head in the power direction.

list of mods already on it.

full exhaust, power fc, EBC, 660sard injectors, koni adjustables all round. pods.

id be saying next step would be turbos and cams?????

what would be recommened for great response???

I like the HKS GT-SS:

- Similar to factory.

BUT:

- Steel wheels so you can run more boost.

- Ball bearing to spool faster and to offset the loss of the ceramic exhaust wheel.

- More modern design to give better boost characteristics.

- Larger exhaust housing to give more top end.

Nice looking car btw.

Jamie

oh you got more mods than i was thinking... I have only got a cat back and some pods and an EBC @ 12psi and mine made 200awkw but the clutch was slipping at the time.. its got a new clutch now but I haven't run it since.

If you want good response turbo's that can still produce pretty serious power I would go twin gt-ss.

Has it got healthy compression? If so then R34N1 turbos are the most popular choice, so is pon-cam.

congratz on ur new buy :P

were in the same boat i guess...except my journeys been thru many GTST's and GTT's, not preludes and ect.. :)

I just got my r32 gtr registered and on the road about 2 weeks ago now, and i must say out of all the cars i have ever owned and driven this is by far my fav one :) so im feeling the same joy and excitement as you too!!

Looks tuff man!

R32 GTR's are already quite responsive.

Up the boost to just under 1 Bar (14.7 Psi) but depending on your twin turbo's condition, full turbo back exhaust as you said, upgrade your panel filter in your air box or go twin pods.

Upgrade suspension, strut brace, top quality brake pads and a nice heavy duty clutch are a must if you are planning to put some power into it.

I see you got the R33 GTR wheels and I believe they are 17" already, a good diametre but how wide are they? If you can fit wider wheels and keep it at 17" or go 18", that will help with handling.

Depending on how many kW's you want, I think it will be a while before you max out your standard 440cc fuel injectors...

APexi Power FC will come in handy with your boost tuning.

responsive enough, but could be better i think.

but im comparing it to a mate who has a modified evo9 and i think hes run 24psi lol

so when we swap cars....the evo is alot more responsive.

i know its ridiculous to compare the 2! but 24 psi feels good. lol

the current wheels are 235's i think, but i got a set of 18"x9.5 tc2's on order. and wrapping them in re01 i think there called?? some seriously good tyres ive heard??

and its pretty much already got all the standard upgrades.

its got a power fc but im too scared to play around with the controller lol and koni's all round plus i had to replace injectors cos the previous ones were shot. so we put in 660cc sards, so it would be ready for more power.

its ok power how is, but i know im a couple months i will need more! lol its always the way.

still makes me smile ever time i get in it :P.....sounds so gay, but so true

    • oh they were with that motor, you need to remove the engine to change the spark plugs (don't have to, but it does make it easier)
    • I certainly fall into the annoyed camp, but glad to hear that if it's happening at low boost then I'm not likely going to blow a turbo and end up with metal shards in my oil. Just feels like it prevents me from really driving it without hesitation and "peak" performance. Wonder if it's the VCAM, it did an impressive job of shifting the torque curve and faster spool, but maybe now it's "too fast" and there's too much air for how open the throttle is.  Based on some other threads, will also do some reading on synchronizing the actuators. They are the default actuators that come on the Garrett's and I would think they would be set the same coming from the factory, but if the turbos don't actually work exactly the same way at the same time as previously mentioned, it would be worth making sure the actuators are actuating together properly
    • I went down this rabbit hole before, ended up sourcing a motor from the UK (I'm in Japan) which also didn't function correctly. With the original motor, I disassembled it and reassembled it and it works somewhat, sometimes. What I could deduce from all my screwing around is that there is calibration of the gears on the inside of the motor and two ramps on the main gear which activate switches that operate the motor and move the sunroof either to retract into the roof or tilt. Where I got stuck was that, it seemed in my case that one or both of the switches that are activated by the ramp on the gear did not always activate and thus the motor did not move, causing it to sometimes not retract or tilt (apologies, I've forgotten which way it didn't work.).  Of course this part is discontinued at Nissan now, it's the same part in the S15 but no other models. I also contacted the manufacturer of the component for schematics - forgot the name, they're based in Gifu - but they declined to share the information due to being bound by an NDA, sadly. Looking through my pictures now, it seems I last had a crack at this in 2022. See, I so kindly wrote "open" and "close" next to the switches. If you figure it out, please do tell me. Those little switches, with the red buttons may need to be replaced.
    • It says 300ZX, does that make it an Aus delivered car? Funny how back in the day I just couldn't care less about Z32's and these days I am just in love with them. Back when Nissan was into pushing the envelope. 🤣
