Considering one of these right now. I have the HKS which is slightly noisy, I wonder how this will compare. :)

I haven't really heard other twin plates to compare, but I'm pretty sure the ORC is very noisy lol. So that's a no go if noise is a big issue for you.

When engaged, it sounds like a violent metal explosion waiting to happen (but I love it.)

Drtiftmeister are you on your second set of Plates because they Wore out too quick

or because the clutch is that good and new plates are cheap making this an awesome clutch to run in the GTR?

Noisy and a touch bitey are the words consistently used to describe it.

plate would just before the other so it felt stock and easy to drive???

I assume it launched hard though yeah???

Hi, I've just put down my deposit on an R32 GTR today. I love how it drove but the car comes with multiplate clutch. I am still not very comfortable driving them on the road. It is unsure that the clutch is twin or triple plate as the dealer who sells the car to me have no idea what it is.

Anyway, is there anyway thing I need to do while releasing the multiplate clutch. As my last manual car was a stock corolla =_='

There is that "samurai sword clashing" noise at the start.. very noticeable, I thought when I push my pedal in it makes a little bit more noise than that, but might just be my ears..

To be honest I never gave it a hard launch! I've been respectful to this car given it's 20yrs old. But the way you describe its engagement it sounds like it.

A lot of people struggle with twin plate clutches, i learnt to drive mine 100% within a few hours.

It just takes a bit of getting used to, that said, some people cannot drive certain clutches for the life of them.

All I can say is keep at it.

Heal on the floor when engaging, smooth small movements at grab point. Some people take longer than others to get used to it. Don't worry, you will get used to it :happy:. I've had pig clutches for years, daily driven, so nothing bothers me much any more.

That is the best bit of advice for using a clutch in a GTR. I had to alter my driving style that I had developed in my Peugeot 205 GTI. I leave the heal on the floor to the side of the clutch pedal, similar to how you heel-toe with your right foot, and lift my foot by the ankle rather than moving the entire leg. I only do this for first.

When I first bought my GTR it had a Nismo twin plate which I found very difficult to drive slowly in traffic or for parking. It had less than 2cm of difference between on & off and I stalled it a lot to begin with. I have since replaced it with a Jim Berry Full Monte single plate which is just as strong and much easier to drive with in the daily grind and to parallel park. My GTR puts out ~350rwkW and it is well up to the task.

The pfft why was in regards to your 'twin plates being mandatory for gtr's' comment. I don't understand why people put crazy clutches in cars that don't require them, it's cheaper to smash a clutch than it is a gearbox, the clutch should be able to hold maybe 10% more power than what the car is making otherwise it's just overkill, thats my opinion anyway.

My car makes about 300kw and i'm using a stock clutch with no issues, car is used mostly for weekend outings and track......

Negative ghostrider, break a box $1,000 to fix. Smash clutch thats $2,000 to fix.

I run Exedy Hypertwin, great clutch had it rebuilt about 4 months ago and see's 500hp easy. Had a HKS in the past and did not like it.

Serious About the HKS Clutch monga? are we talking about the one that where the front clutch engages first then the second a split second after?

like in the pictures above? it was at the top of the list because of thoses reasons???

Did it launch hard?

was it hard to drive in traffic?

Did you ever get the clutch to slip?

how loud was the plate rattle?

etc etc

Got the Nismo 640ps version in my car. Sweet as, VERY drivable and takes a beating!

Are the Nismo Twin plates easy on the gearboxes though? My understanding is that Twin Plates can actually be quite harsh on gearboxes??? ;)

    • looking for some help and maybe some insight on others experience with a new LSD. R34 GT ran and drove beautifully, but always alot of grip loss due to the open R200 rear end, so I just installed a new 1.5 LSD way into the stock open R200 for a ER34. Simple. Everything seemed right. I test drove for the first time this weekend. as I started to back out the garage the first time slowly with tires straight it sounded and felt like I had a loose or half disconnected drive shaft...that was clucking around loose and shaking entire vehicle, and making it feel like the trans clutch was spontaneously slipping then grabbing very roughly while just letting out pedal slowly. I backed it out went to pull forward with the same noise, shake and slip grab feeling with hesitation, I turned the tires to back out more and then pulled ahead some same thing but worst because of added wheel resistance (which that I expected) puzzled … pulling it back in checking everything over and finding nothing wrong, I tried it the next day. same thing, couldn’t believe how it shook everything again making a terrible noise and making it feel like the trans clutch was slipping and grabbing, but I got it out of garage into the driveway, got it straight, drove forward and then reveres a few times in a straight line everything shaking , causing what felt like clutch slip and grab every time, sounded like right behind front driver tire and I could feel it in the floor board with my feet,... worst right when beginning to let clutch pedal out to engage slightly, shuttering and sounding terrible along the way…I managed to slowly get down the road, babying it the whole way, once I was rolling (out of 1st) seemed to be better and between shifts, then clutch felt closer to normal…not slip/ grab etc., but back down to any stop, straight road or turning, same thing. Made no difference if all tires were straight or if I was turning. All other gauge read out correct. with in 2 miles as planned I reached the empty parking lot and performed the break in procedure that came with lsd, essentially to drive in a figure 8 a bunch.  Did this, binding chattering, and shaking the car the whole way. I drove it back home seemed somewhat normal once I was in straight line and past 10 mph or so, and I know it will “bind” on corners and cause some tires squeal when turning especially from a stop, but when I begin to move it still causes what feels like the trans clutch to slip and jerk badly as well as shaking the entire car, and sounds terrible, that I didn’t expect. I used the fluid they supplied with LSD kit and did the breaking, planning to change fluid as they suggest after breaking, but wondering will it get smoother or less aggressive with use? maybe a 1.5 is just too aggressive for normal road driving?   I have a LSD that I put in my 71 cuda when I restored it, with amazing smooth , quite yet effective results. Different style LSD but that ones a joy to drive. maybe expecting too much from this R200?

    • Hello!  i just finished manual swaping my r34 skyline with a r33 rb20de box(RB71C)box  When the car is running it squeaks crazy loud and it was smoking from the gearbox area. The gearbox is fine it was tested. The clutch slave cylinder seems like it doesn't fully releases the clutch.
