Well done on your choice. I had a XR6 Turbo, then BF Typhoon and now a GT.

Great car for the money and easily modded. Make sure you pop into fordxr6turbo.com as it has all the info you will need to look after your new ride.

As for being back, wait and see as these big Fords are addictive.

damn, car porn! HOT!
Wow, that 33R is nice :(
lol that is a clone of my best mates gtr, midnight purp, even down to the ssr type C's

Heh!

It's SAU memeber rexjackys R33 GTR, which was posted up in the Photography Thread.

The Midnight Purple looks hot in the sunlight.

Il be back dont you worry lol.

The xr6 is more of a daily now til i get myself a r35 gtr! Will be a while though. lol

R35 GTR eah... LOL! Sweet.

Yes it will be a while for the R35 GTR to come down in price + I want one too!

But I still think the R34 GTR looks better overall...

All the best in the XR6!

i did the same as you, sold my line and bought an big hp aussie ute.. had enough with all that jap imports brings... within a few months it was gone and i was back in a japanese performance car.. just this one had less cop appeal and 4 doors... sure the ute was fast and new and sounded great... but it was shit quality, shit fell apart, rattled, clicked, and shit was expensive, i sold it when it had 24000kms and developed a rattle on cold starts... japanese cars sooo much better. congrats with the purchase... hope you dont lose too much money on it.

Lol thats because the TC system is shitty and doesn't work properly ;)

Congrats on the purchase though!

A mate of mine is doing the opposite at the moment. He has had ford's his whole life (XE 6cyl that he turbo'd, XR6T, and now XR8) and he has finally seen the light and decided to sell up for a jap car! Not a skyline though  he wants an S15.

  • 3 months later...

Thought id touch base and say hi again, All is well on the BA. Hasnt given me any trouble besides the auto slipping, which is expected in these cars when pushing upwards of 300+ rwkw.

Getting it rebuilt very soon and hopefully see some old faces from here at Calder this coming november.

Cheers

Anth.

good stuff. my sister in law's boyfriend has one with a generic flash tune with the boost up to 9psi and it hauls pretty good. can't beat a 4L 6 cylinder for low end torque (well you can by going even bigger) but they have so much low end compared to a little 2.5L (reffering to my old r33). certainly my car of choice if i had the money

id just like to add my 2c

i sold my R33 to buy a VY SS ute. (business and tax decision) lovely car, leather, 6 speed. then proceeded to push it to 400rwhp. was great, fly around on leather seats 6 speed stacker stereo and smoke 3rd gear.. handled well... for a boat.

then i made the mistake of driving my mates 33. then i promptly sold my ute (didnt loose money thank god) and now here i am less than 12 months since my last 33, in a GTR. hahaha

i know holden vs ford is a big debate, but my old man used to get given BA Xr6's, company policy was replace the car at 100,000km (as the old man did alot of driving) he went through 4 of them during his years with his company

and BY GOD. how can any australian build such a shit car!? seriously, at 50,000km his yellow one needed a rebuild? LOL

that said after both owning/driving (supposedly the best that holden and ford have to offer without going FPV or HSV)

.. i vow never to go back to an australian car. my 95 gtr is still in better shape than my 04 VY SS commy ever was. and theres 10 years differnce there.

all said and done, good luck with the build mate, i know the potential of them... there is a time when we all gotta stop being boy racers and become sensible economic and effecient minded gentlemen

that just hasnt happened for me yet!

happy driving mate! i respect all cars regardless make or model before flaming starts!

yea thanks mate, its something different for me now. wanted a big cosy car with some guts.

Spent 1,500 for a tune and injectors ( Couldnt help myself lol)

I took it down to heathcote a while ago and ran a 12.7 @117mph, i was impressed for such a big car, and this was with the stock exhaust

well considering the price that they pump them out for, i'd say that is the first clue. also was he the only driver of the company car? cause company cars are often regaurded as being 1 step up from a rental rally car, LOL.

the stock exhaust flows pretty well on the xr6t. often one of the last things needed to be upgraded.

Hey mate ^^^ yeah all 4 of his cars were driven by him, my mum or myself..

dont get me wrong, we thrashed it as did he, 2000km a week mostly western QLD and NSW, not many quality roads out there...

but seriously the quality of my SS vs my GTR. I know what id rather have in 10 years time...

this only makes me think how much fun a current R35 GTR would be in 5-10 years (when i can probly afford it)!!

happy mods mate, thats a respectable time for a boat :P hehehe

    • Absolute f*cking nightmare. I had to take breaks constantly, and I was always pissed off when I got home. The line split in Italy on day 2 (we drove from the Netherlands), lol. Driving any narrow European town was... well, sh*t.   Appreciate it man. Here, I'll just drop a favourite from the load I took on Saturday.   I'll update here when things happen with the car, the thing is, with stock power and almost everything chassis-wise taken care of, there really are no problems. 268,000kms now and counting.
    • Ah! I actually managed to snag a lightly used set.... that aren't so suitable for me right now. They don't work on a GTT without some cutting or creative heat moulding. I thought about reselling them myself cause I didn't want to murder them, but it looks like I'm probably going to attempt to murder them/melt them because I may as well. @GTSBoy @PranK can somebody close this thread?
    • Hey mate,  I have a set, one is slightly damaged but wont be noticable once installed.  Shoot me a message if your still after them
    • I couldn't wait But, the black constant tension hose clamps were too thick and there wasn't enough clearance at the T/B and I couldn't get it to seat properly, so I had use a silver one there I also added some 3" silicone over the alloy bit that goes through to hole on the radiator support as it looked like it was sitting on the edge of the hole in the radiator support, I never noticed a rattle or anything, but there was a witness mark It is basicly done, and I can live with the silver hose clamp at the T/B, I will get a black clamp for the head vent though where it is attached to the bulkhead fitting  It never stops...LOL, only issue now with the shock tower brace is it slightly touches the under bonnet liner now, if I leave it it will either wear some paint off the brace where it touches, or damage the liner, so I removed the liner to see what I have to work with, with the liner removed I have about 20mm of clearance, but sadly the middle part of the underside of the bonnet is only dusted with paint and looks crap, so I cannot have that, but.... as I have a roll of Carbuilders premium under bonnet insulation in the garage laying around that is only 5.5mm thick (we were going to use it on the boys Patrol, but he crashed the front of it a few months and it was written off, hence why he now drives my old Honda Accord Euro), I'll use the OEM liner as a template and get the Carbuilders stuff fitted up to cover that dusted paint up
