Had another go at an endurance race, with the same result. Bugger

On another note, has anyone else been having trouble logging into the PSN? Mine struggles to log in, and when it does, the game takes forever to load. Is there unusually high load on the server, or is it more likely a problem at my end? (network / internet is otherwise working fine at home)

not sure on that issue man, mines been fine.

soo, after not having played for a few weeks while i was at the goldy and now playing skyrim. i decided to play this arvo.......254mb update of coarse.

but it does come with more new cars including the Toyota 86.

there is a new DLC for 4 more cars also.....(which contains ANOTHER R35 GTR)

but the best thing about the whole lot?? you can now change and paint your wheels on standard cars!!! thats amazing!

My little bro bought me GT5 as an early Christmas present yesterday. Played it early today, was in the middle of a go-kart race until my ps3 decided to sh!t itself and died on me. Now I got this stupid blinking red light of death on my ps3...

Must be a gt5 curse. My ps3 also died when I first stuck in the game. Watched the intro video and as the main menu was loading, DEATH to the ps3… YLOD

The 3D is pretty cool though.

true?? i hear the same about MW3 just killing them. must just be the last straw in an already overheated unit....silly sony and their lack of real solder so the kiddies cant die of lead poisoning......

havent tryed the 3D yet...might be due to lack of a 3D tv tho :P might head to a friends tomorrow and check it out!

oh and the Toyota 86 is a freaking sweet litle car!

They've fixed the enduro save issues so you can now save games at Tsukuba

Also, 200% bonus on credits and xp today Woot!!

Picked up over 20 mil and bought the 67 Fez race car and Ford Mk IV (when you get 8mil for a win in the Le Mans B spec race it doesn't take long to rack up the $$)

Well its quite easy to fix. All you need is a hair dryer and a fan thumbsup.gif

the YLOD fix won't fix it for long.. so back up all your saves to a flash drive or something before it shits itself again or you'll lose everything forever.

speaking from experience. i fixed mine 3 times before it finally rendered itself un-fixable.

OT: does anyone have an Audi R8 Le mans 2001? the one with the red paintwork, not the yellow? if you have it.. name your price.. i will trade just about anything for it.

yeah there is a varied time frame, depending on how well the solder resetting works i guess. i did use a heat gun and not a hair dryer on mine, and its now the secondary PS3, as i did buy a new one....wasnt going to trust it :P

I got back into GT5 yesterday after playing BF3 & MW3 since they were released. I bought the latest DLC, some nice cars there. I had a win in the Used Dealership, they had the Initial D AE86 there. Winning!

Played some A Spec, but I had to use the Dual Shock as I still haven't got around to buying a Wheelstandpro for my Logitech Driving Force Pro wheel. I won a few races & then went back to B Spec. Started the 24hr Le Mans with the Red Bull X2010, one Level 37 driver, the other two Level 35. Started at 0030 this morning, suspended the race after 12hrs. I am very comfortably ahead of the pack to say the least! I could imagine leaving the PS3 on for 24hrs though. Even with the cooling fans I have for mine, it is still a little warm now. Hopefully I can finish the remaining 12hrs tonight while I'm asleep & in the early hours of the morning. Then on to the 24hr Nurburgring! I hope to get the level 37 driver to Level 40 in order to get the trophy. I'm Level 38 in B Spec, hopefully I can get to 40 myself after doing the two 24hr races. I am only at level 15 in A Spec, but until I am using the wheel again it will remain where it is.

The Seasonal Events had some B Spec races, but as they are limited by Performance Points, I had to reduce the power of some cars to suit. My 260RS Stagea won a couple of races! That Chaparrel 2J though can derelict my balls!! I cannot get anywhere near it on the Indy 500 track. I have seen they go for 15 million in the Used Dealership, I'm on a bit over 11. Save up for it, or do the birthday glitch on another account? What to do?

Time for lunch, I think my PS3 is still hot enough to cook a steak on it, :D.

I've been playing GT5 for about a month now and enjoying it a lot in some areas, others are a bit boring.

I have noticed in some races (both online and offline), people have had the Ford Falcon XR8 and Holden Commodores/Monaro's. How can i obtain these cars? I have never seen them in the used car dealership....

Also, when you do an endurance race, can you pause the endurance race and resume it another time? I've only done the Grand Valley 300km race so far....

Please add me on GT5/PSN. My username is Herculeeez

will add you as soon as i get back on the PS.

the monaro/commo is in the used car dealership, you just have to keep an eye on it and check regularly enough. (on this note. if anyone happens across a 400R they dont wanna keep, send it my way "Resnort", as i want one to fully modify. so i can keep my current one standard )

the XR8 as far as i know is only the old AU touring car isnt it?? which you win along the way somewhere, but also comes up in the UCD

    • Hi, is the HKS  Tower Bar still available ? negotiable ? 🤔
    • From there, it is really just test and assemble. Plug the adapter cables from the unit into the back of the screen, then the other side to the car harness. Don't forget all the other plugs too! Run the cables behind the unit and screw it back into place (4 screws) and you should now have 3 cables to run from the top screen to the android unit. I ran them along the DS of the other AV units in the gap between their backets and the console, and used some corrugated tubing on the sharp edges of the bracket so the wires were safe. Plug the centre console and lower screen in temporarily and turn the car to ACC, the AV should fire up as normal. Hold the back button for 3 sec and Android should appear on the top screen. You need to set the input to Aux for audio (more on that later). I put the unit under the AC duct in the centre console, with the wifi antenna on top of the AC duct near the shifter, the bluetooth antenna on the AC duct under the centre console The GPS unit on top of the DS to AC duct; they all seem to work OK there are are out of the way. Neat cable routing is a pain. For the drive recorder I mounted it near the rear view mirror and run the cable in the headlining, across the a pillar and then down the inside of the a pillar seal to the DS lower dash. From there it goes across and to one USB input for the unit. The second USB input is attached to the ECUtec OBD dongle and the 3rd goes to the USB bulkhead connected I added in the centre console. This is how the centre console looks "tidied" up Note I didn't install the provided speaker, didn't use the 2.5mm IPod in line or the piggyback loom for the Ipod or change any DIP switches; they seem to only be required if you need to use the Ipod input rather than the AUX input. That's it, install done, I'll follow up with a separate post on how the unit works, but in summary it retains all factory functions and inputs (so I still use my phone to the car for calls), reverse still works like factory etc.
    • Place the new daughterboard in the case and mount it using the 3 small black rivets provided, and reconnect the 3 factory ribbon cables to the new board Then, use the 3 piggyback cables from the daughterboard into the factory board on top (there are stand offs in the case to keep them apart. and remember to reconnect the antenna and rear cover fan wires. 1 screw to hold the motherboard in place. Before closing the case, make a hole in the sticker covering a hole in the case and run the cable for the android unit into the plug there. The video forgot this step, so did I, so will you probably. Then redo the 4 screws on back, 2 each top and bottom, 3 each side and put the 2 brackets back on.....all ready to go and not that tricky really.
    • Onto the android unit. You need to remove the top screen because there is a daughterboard to put inside the case. Each side vent pops out from clips; start at the bottom and carefully remove upwards (use a trim remover tool to avoid breaking anything). Then the lower screen and controls come out, 4 screws, a couple of clips (including 3 flimsy ones at the top) and 3 plugs on the rear. Then the upper screen, 4 screws and a bunch of plugs and she is out. From there, remove the mounting brackets (2 screws each), 4 screws on the rear, 2 screws top and bottom and 3 screws holding in the small plates on each side. When you remove the back cover (tight fit), watch out for the power cable for the fan, I removed it so I could put the back aside. The mainboard is held in by 1 screw in the middle, 1 aerial at the top and 3 ribbon cables. If you've ever done any laptop stuff the ribbon cables are OK to work with, just pop up the retainer and they slide out. If you are not familiar just grab a 12 year old from an iphone factory, they will know how it works The case should now look like this:
    • Switching the console was tricky. First there were 6 screws to remove, and also the little adapter loom and its screws had to come out. Also don't forget to remove the 2 screws holding the central locking receiver. Then there are 4 clips on either side....these were very tight in this case and needed careful persuading with a long flat screw driver....some force required but not enough to break them...this was probably the fiddliest part of the whole job. In my case I needed both the wiring loom and the central locking receiver module to swap across to the new one. That was it for the console, so "assembly is the reverse of disassembly"
