No not your motor's dyno graph Paul, just cam duration change to Marko's one

lol...interesting comparison though...just shows a basic 26...is just as good as a big $$ 30...and makes earlier torque but doesn't hold on as long. The graphs are very similar with Marko's pipping mine by 0.1KW

I thought you may have been hinting at your engine...don't you run smaller cams Steve ?

Thats right, I used 270IN and EX with 10.25mm for the current one. But the cams were never dialled in during the tune as we were pressed for time, that aside it would be great if someone could overlay Marko's graph and this graph;

Note this is using the same size turbos (im pretty sure marko has the .6 -10's meaning 400hp each, im on HKSGTRS's) and my head is only cleaned up, its not "ported"

Down low its pretty much the same, but look at the midrange and up top, also lower boost

stevo, if i switched them there is labour + another tune = $

your above graph is based on a 2 wheel dyno whereas mine is a 4 wheel dyno which may also change the results (i.e. jim @ crd advised my power level on 2 wheels on his dyno is 445rwkw)

the bigger the better with rb30's as i was informed!

to be fair yours still has a little way to go though Marko and i was running more boost (27psi)...why do you think im building one.

can't wait to see what it does with my head, turbo and plenunm on one drinking methanol at 35psi. :P

a direct comparison between my current bottom end and the 30 after running mine in with pump shall be interesting...my turbo should really come into its own. I feel that 30 bottom ends do have their application, but im far from convinced they are the be all and end all.

i spent over 20k building my engine BUT i sold off all of my other bits from the rb26, end of the day the whole thing cost me approx 13k (includes tuning cost @ $1500)

best 13k ive spent to date :P

As Bakes says...if it makes you happy its a bargain.

how much do you get back from Wayne Swan for the engine ?

no need. :) you can see if it peaks at 8500 that each line is 3,4,5,6,7,8000rpm. :ninja:

it's interesting that my 26 with headwork, small cams and GT-SS made 160kw @ 4,000 vs 150kw on the 30 with GTRS, and at 4,400rpm mine was 210kw vs 180kw for your 30. at 5,000rpm i'm making 250kw and you have 230kw. at 5,600 I have 275kw and you are now just overtaking me with 290kw (also getting very near your peak torque). and then at 6,000rpm I have just 290kw you have 330kw and from 6,000rpm to 8,000rpm you run away with the bigger turbos and make another 100kw.

it's interesting though that the 3 litre doesn't make the GT-RS turbos as responsive as people make out. there is still a lag price to pay when you see that a little ol 2.6 with the baby GT-SS are about even with it up to 6,000rpm. having said that mine was only running about 17 or 18psi at the time as I was being a bit conservative, it's now running 23psi in the hands of it's new owner and I think with that more boost, and it coming on sooner it would give the RB30/GT-RS combo a good fight up to 6,000rpm and would probably feel more responsive/torqueier down low on the street. the top end power can't be denied though!!! and when it comes down to it they are two different dynos so it's hard to really get any truth from it, but it is still interesting. I've no doubt though on the whole the 30/RS combo is faster. but i'm not 100% sure which would be the better street car/hills thrasher... ?

no need. :ninja: you can see if it peaks at 8500 that each line is 3,4,5,6,7,8000rpm. :ninja:

Well see that's i would think myself at first glance... However i don't want to assume just yet because as it was asked earlier...

Have I got it right, max torque is around 4,250 rpm and max horsepower is around 6,100 rpm and it makes less than 50 rwkw at 3,000 rpm? Or is my maths totally screwed up?

So 3 of us are thinking that is how the axis is, so indeed only making 50rwkw @ 3,000rpm (by what we think)

However Marko then came along and said...

your calculations are not right, would be if it was a rgv250

Which basically says none of us are correct in our assumption of the bottom axis

So that would almost certainly mean its not the scale we are thinking :ninja:

Hence I'm trying to find out by actually getting the bottom axis to be sure :)

i'll post another graph tonight from my other pc which includes the km/h axis (it is from 0-200km/h)

i had an rb26 with gtss's & i can tell you that the difference in torque is massive between the rb26/gtss v's rb30/-10s :)

chalk & cheese

well he himself said it was revv'd to 8,5000 not 9,000rpm. so assuming he's telling the truth then peak TORQUE is about 6,500rpm and peak power is about 8,000rpm and held to the 8,500rpm limit. not sure where gary got the 4,250rpm for peak torque if it's being revv'd to 8,500rpm?!

this well considering i pulled an 11.1 @ 129mph with my rb26/gtss setup which had 312awkw...this setup will smash a 10!

agree with that, but not all RB26/GT-SS set-ups are the same.... :)

    • For these last 7 years of ownership, I've always had to use a small scissor jack under one of the front tow hooks to raise the front just enough so my low-profile jack fits under to reach my subframe jack point. I'm beginning to get annoyed of always having to do this. Are there any lower low-profile jacks that fit under the gtr lip on a dropped car?
    • Seat of the pants assessment of the new intake: The car is way less "doughy" when hitting the loud pedal, especially off idle when stopped or in traffic, I did use a cheapo lazer thermal thingo to measure the temp around where the pod filter got its air, it was between 55 - 60°C, in saying this the car was shut off and not moving, so the OEM intake pipe was not supplying any fresh air to where the pod was when the car was at least moving A weird bonus was induction noise on the throttle in the cabin increased a bit,  I was worried that I was actually going to lose some of that induction noise I love so much, outside though, when I got the daughter to do a WOT drive by pass for me, the induction noise has increased alot when on the throttle, not quite ITB doort, but well up there I'm extremely happy with the results and have been exploring the country roads in the region  As for house mods: 1.New front fence is up and is awesome, it really upgraded how the joint looks from the street, and the added security is nice 2. Electricians have replace some interior lights, and with more lighting in the garage, a few new motion detecting lights out the front above the garage, front room, and at the front door, which I have already found heaps helpful coming and going, also now has fancy pants CCTV all round the house The only hold point for power though is the solar and batteries due to supply issues, although this will happen over the next few weeks 3. I have done a heap of landscaping out the front and I'm almost ready to do a new small retaining wall with some nice blocks to replace the brick and cemented in rocks around the raised garden beds cemented in river stone "was the fashion at the time" the house was built. I currently have a pallet of retaining wall blocks and 2 bulka bags of 20mm blue metal to replace the wood chip that is in the raised garden beds around the house 4. I now have 3 big raised garden beds for out the back to grow some vegetables, about 70cm high, 200cm long and 100cm wide 5. My 2 compost bins are already pretty full with brown, green and kitchen waste from the landscaping I'vedone so far, but they will probably take a few months to break down, so anything else that gets chopped, trimmed, and kitchen waste will just start filling the base of the raised garden beds to about 30cm before I start throwing 40cm of good compost, and stuff, for the vegetables to grow in, I'll need a few ton of compost and soil, but the local supplier can sent me bulka bags of the stuff Basically the logs, wood chips and a few strategically placed rocks for drainage, will give the beds some good organic materials down low to break down over time, and they will hold moisture during the warmer months to save the water in my big arse water tank if we don't get alot of rain So, all in all, the car and house mods are going well, and I'm really enjoying being retired, I sleep in too 0700 and slowly plod around inside until I feel like actually doing anything, and only work in the yard for as long as want, which has actually been alot over the last few weeks,  although when you look at it, it seems that not a huge amount of work has been done,  until I look at the before I started the work pics Happy days and good times indeed
    • hahaha yeah. Plan is to get side skirts and probably just rear pods. But going to do them one-by-one. I've got a set that I really like from RHDJapen, but that one isn't shipped to AU. So need to find someone who can get it for me
