and in other news damo has been seen in the bushes around primary schools.

I've had a paint sceme in mind for a while now... and it's not painted like an animal, cars painted like animals look stupid, dad proved that.

It's hard to get motivated when it's cold. I measured the suspension up today. Rear is easy to get good travel on. The front doesn't have alot of room for travel, you can only get about 60mm of travel at 345mm ride hight before the upper arm goes through the top of the tower. I'll reserch and play round with the ride hights on paper before i order the shocks

Now got job security, so it's back into the car.

I've ordered my air filters for the airbox (2x Merc 600SL), and a 044 to pump E85 goodness around.

It's almost ready to weld, I didn't take pics of the last section, but it just needs the ends tidied up, then off to the welder.

ben beat me to the pics but i thought id add some more pics to assist with other people wiring cars.

I use deutsch plugs for most of the bits that need plugs. these are by far the best plug you can buy. weather proof and higher current carrying capabilities than other similar sized plugs.

this is how they go together as such. this example is a plug for the ABS wheel sensor. the wire is 16gauge Mill spec is in PVC sleving which is my profered looming material. it makes the nicest neatest job of any loom but is a pain in the ass to do and probably adds 50% more time to any job.

next ois what i started with regarding all the ABS wiring

this shot shows that there is 2 looms mearging into one. a pice of heat-shrink is then slid over the top and once the 3 bits of PVC sleving are pulled into one the heat-shrink is then heated forming a seal between them all. On engine looms i use doubble walled heat-shrink that has a glue inside of it. when heated the glue goes runny and the heat-shrink pulls tight making some of the glue ooze out the end. this give an almost water tight seal and prevents the PVC sleving from pulling apart over time.

ill get a few more pics in the next week or so of the wiring into the switch pannel and fuse boxes.

I made the turbo side piping today. it's almost ready to weld up, but the pipe that damo supplied wasn't long enough...apparently this is a normal occerence. Another 50mm or so of pipe should fix it.

Got some sensors for the Haltech (oil temp, oil pressure, fuel pressure, exhaust temp)

Air box MKII with one of two filters in. pretty much a copy of the GMS one. Need to get some alloy and make it now, and then design the top 1/2.

Got the intercooler piping ready to weld today. Took ages to file all the joins so there wasn't any gaps... welder says it makes his life much easier.

I installed the Aero catches. They are are pain in the arse to install, but it's worth it when there in.

I got a heap of speedflow fittings for the surgetank setup.

I'm putting bulkhead connectors in the floor or the boot, will make it neat, and i won't have to worry about hoses rubbing on the hole in the floor

    • I know it's an entirely different engine, but I noticed practically 0 difference removing or adding 2x 3in (5inch body) 400cell cats (one in each bank) with regards to sound. So changing the cat to change drone I suspect will have very very, very, very, very, very very minimal impact.
    • 200 cell cat will probably help. Do you have room to tee off a Helmholtz resonator anywhere along the exhaust? These can do wonders for drones, with a little experimentation with regards to length.
    • The car revs up through the gears much better/faster now, and fuel consumption doesn't really seem to have be affected either on a Hwy cruise, which wasn't expected  The FAB9 intake manifold has been problematic sourcing though, I've contacted Plasmaman to ask about their intake, which you can get different runner lengths spec'd, and, their different options for throttle bodies  The only real physical drawback with the Plasmaman intake is how to connect it to my current OEM style airbox, as FAB9 make a OEM style back half of the airbox to suit the larger diameter throttle body, and all that is required is a 30°bend silicone pipe to mate the throttle body to the airbox Car also goes in for some exhaust work in a week or so to fit the biggest resonator they can fit clearance wise in the front pipe to help remove some of the drone, there isn't alot of realestate under there, a rough guesstimation is it will only be about 3-400mm long and maybe 90-100mm diameter, and with a 60mm exhaust that doesn't leave alot of space for the internal volume of the resonator to do its thing I'm thinking I may need to bin the "high flow" 100 cell cat for something a bit more substantial, yeah, and restrictive, like a 200-400 cell, to help, but, I have ample room for a really large bodied cat to replace the current one which has around a 4" diameter body I may look around in the recycling bins and see if I can find a massive newish cat that was "replaced" with some new full exhaust system that the local exhaust shop in Western Sydney is doing
    • Hahah look at that smile 😂 Just like those ones on IG where they compare the husband in family photos vs husband going fishing lol. I don't think I'll participate this time, clutch isn't in and also the last time I went there were too many numpties on the cruise sessions. Nearly caused a few accidents holding up people and a few guys initiating massive kerb to kerb drifts with heaps of cars right behind them. Not to mention, there were guys on the track session using it as a power cruise session.
