u using fibre glass copy front bar??

Wouldnt think a genuine bar/factory plastic would crack like that.

Ive seen cars running genuine kits and hit much bigger things and come out less worse for wear then that.

plastic won't crack like that no, but the paint can still crack if it flexes too much. i put my pulsar in a ditch one night (was doing a 3 point turn on a dirt road and couldn't see a drain on the side of the road and the car just slowly slipped down into it). the front bar was pushed back against the radiator support (so it moved about 15cm) and had the weight of the car pushing down on it. once we got the car out and took it to the carwash to wash the dirt off there wasn't any damage at all. a few fine scratches and that was it. i was expecting the front bar to be stuffed as well as the radiator supports etc, but they are all fine. i also hit a hare at 80kmh in my vx commodore and didn't even mark the paint.

the problem with some fibreglass bars is that they are so flimsy. i have seen some that just about break if you pick them up by 1 end (they flex too much and are so thin they just about tear). however that can be a good thing if you hit something with the corner of the bar it will just flex. i made mine so thick along the bottom that you could just about hold it out straight just by holding it at 1 end.

I hit a fully grown hare at 120Ks, and iv hit another at 100. Lots and lots of near misses with rabbits too.

f**ked my front bumper and went through the plastic that starts under the front bumper and ends at the tires and finally went under the wheel which spat his guts underneath the rest of my car.

################***********#WARNING WARNING WARNING PLEASE READ#####################****

Rabbits and hares are totally f**kn retarded animals and you should never think that they are moving out of your way, the stupid shit for brains things will run off to the side and then turn around and run in front of you OR if you see them on the side of the road they will run onto the road (i don't know why) and commit suicide.

p.s

Chickens are dumb too

Weird, I hit a fox pretty hard at 80-90kph back about 18 months ago .. barely did any damage at all - factory bumper though, so I guess not likely to shatter or anything like fibreglass. I just needed to replacement bumper....

Mostly I was just annoyed that if I had of been doing the speed limit, or on a straight bit of road I probably would have missed it. Unfortunately it was 1am in the morning driving back to Adelaide, I was taking it easy and on a sweeping bend so I didn't really feel safe swerve to avoid the fox when I caught it in my headlights before it hit.

Anyways - good luck with the repairs Cara. Love to see pics of the completed new front bar :P

just patch up your existing bar and put it back on >_<

too many hairline fractures thru out the whole bar so probably not really worth it......as soon as Blue (my crash repairer) had a look he said it would be easier to get a new one......

it will give me something to do aswell.....ill fix the bar (spend a lot of time on it) and then sell it maybe......if i take it as far back as possible and strengthen it up as much as i can it will reduce any fractures coming up hopefully

I collected a hare also one night, straight into the intercooler. I must say the bunny came off second best. Not a dint or crack/break on the front bar and the cooler was fine. Although there is a slight warp in the mesh. I was pulling tufts of bunny fur out afterwards though hahaha

    • Look for broken wire or bad connector at the motor. Might not be it, but is worth starting there, as it is easy.
    • Hi everyone, I’m having an issue with my R32 GT-R. Sometimes, when the car goes over a bump or experiences some vibration, the 4WD warning light comes on the dashboard. When I check the code from the control unit in the trunk, it shows Code 19 – ETS Motor. However, everything seems to be working fine — if I turn off the engine and restart the car, the light goes away and everything functions normally. Has anyone experienced this before? Where should I start troubleshooting this issue? Thanks in advance!
    • I'm back from the dyno - again! I went looking for someone who knew LS's and had a roller dyno, to see how it shaped up compared to everything else and confirm the powerband really is peaking where Mr Mamo says it should. TLDR: The dyno result I got this time definitely had the shape of how it feels on the road and finally 'makes sense'. Also we had a bit more time to play with timing on the dyno, it turns out the common practice in LS is to lower the timing around peak torque and restore it to max after. So given a car was on the dyno and mostly dialled in already, it was time for tweaking. Luis at APS is definitely knowledgable when it came to this and had overlays ready to go and was happy to share. If you map out your cylinder airmass you start seeing graphs that look a LOT like the engine's torque curve. The good thing also is if you map out your timing curve when you're avoiding knock... this curve very much looks like the inverse of the airmass curve. The result? Well it's another 10.7kw/14hp kw from where I drove it in at. Pretty much everywhere, too. As to how much this car actually makes in Hub Dyno numbers, American Dyno numbers, or Mainline dyno numbers, I say I don't know and it's gone up ~25kw since I started tinkering lol. It IS interesting how the shorter ratio gears I have aren't scaled right on this dyno - 6840RPM is 199KMH, not 175KMH. I have also seen other printouts here with cars with less mods at much higher "kmh" for their RPM due Commodores having 3.45's or longer (!) rear diff ratios maxing out 4th gear which is the 1:1 gear on the T56. Does this matter? No, not really. The real answer is go to the strip and see what it traps, but: I guess I should have gone last Sunday...
    • 310mm rotors will be avilable from Australia, Japan, and probably a few other places. Nothing for the front can be put on the back.
    • The filter only filters down to a specific size. Add to that, the filter is AFTER the pump. So it means everything starts breaking your pump even if its being filtered out.
